It was not simple to find a proper solution. The forum advice is incorrect. I have found an addon to the Nakamichi service manual and fixed the problem by following the Nakamichi guide.
Thanks for sharing this issue and how to fix it. While I have yet to experience this issue, I’m sure I will at some time in the future and this will be a big help.
I am not sure about a root cause, but Nakamichi had to change design to install adjustment arm on the rail to address it. earlier serial numbers does mot have that arm.
@@hifirulezzz That I understand but the machine left the factory adjusted to specs and someting changed. Must be wear. Could it be the rollers itself or mayby something else mechanical? I wonder..
Mine seems to be having this issue now, have you had other symptoms when it chewed tapes? Mine seems to be having difficulty winding new tapes. Idler replaced and all. Could this wear somehow affect how the deck winds the tape in FF/REW?
it has nothing to do with winding, check if you assembled brakes correctly when replacing the idler tire. In this video, I show how to fix chewing when clicking reverse mode.
@@hifirulezzz if the left pinchroller engages first on reverse playback , even if there was a bit of slack , it would be taken up by the left pinchroller and when the right pinchroller comes into contact it ll just "keep tension".
@@sh0t734 Aha, but this will not help with the forward direction. So, that was a reason Nakamichi decided to make both pinch rollers touch capstan shafts simultaneously.
@@hifirulezzz yeah that s true too. They could ve made it so in reverse left comes first and in forward right comes first but i guess it wouldve been to complicated to design
Those are the latest but also the baddest XL-II tapes ..,Maxell ever produced..the tape is less quality and also much thinner than the good old Maxell XL-II tapes..
You never even showed us "how to fix". That's the whole point of making a video, so we can actually see you fix it. Showing us clips after you have fixed it doesn't help.
Thank you for your feedback and I understand where you're coming from. In the video, I made an effort to detail each step and highlight every screw that needed adjustment. Initially, I had to disassemble the head carriage and tape transport, make the necessary adjustments, and then reassemble everything. All these steps were conducted and tested to ensure the solution worked effectively. While I did not film the entire process in real-time which would take hours, I aimed to present a concise and efficient walkthrough, focusing on the critical adjustments required for the fix. The purpose was to provide you with a clear, concise, and practical guide rather than hours of footage which might be less helpful. I understand that you would have preferred a different approach, and your feedback is truly valuable to me. I am continually striving to improve and create content that is most beneficial to you and all our viewers. Thank you again for sharing your perspective, and I hope my future videos will better meet your expectations.
