Naked Minis: Snap On Tiny Talon Grip Pliers available in options. Still not cheap but just as great! 

One thing you didn’t mention, but is super important to me, as an HVAC tech in Arizona, that foam grip material makes it able to handle without burning skin. The “normal” dip handles don’t do much for temperature, but the foam type work wonders for insulating the burning metal from skin.

I found the flare at the bottom of the grip to be very uncomfortable so I heated them up and made it a continuous curve. Much better tool now.

I personally like Knipex’s small modified, slightly blunted needlenose pliers. It doesn’t have that triple jointed feature though, but definitely better cutters. I guess for most things that would require the triple joint, something like their pliers wrench or cobras might work better anyway. There’s a lot of overlap with these tools, so really depends if you want the jack of all trades or a few more specialized tools. That’s the age old question.

Just purchased this set today off the Snap-On Truck!

America seems to really appreciate the slip joint plier. Growing up I only ever used poorer quality slip joints like what you would find in factory automobile tool sets, they were loose wobbly and not all that great. But I've changed my mindset now, when slip joints are done well they can be strong, precise versatile pliers. TwinGrips and a host of SnapOn models are high quality well machined tools with precision. The end tips will grasp a human hair!

There is one multi tool that I own that takes the pliers seriously. It’s the Gerber Dual Force. It’s a real beefy tool. You can get some actual work done with it if you need to. Also has a center axis bit driver.

I’m watching for the flank drive pliers and those needle nose in the small size with Hi Viz.

I did get the mini set and like them a lot. I would love the needle nose with the flank jaw.

I’ve taken the grips off two different size pliers. One was smooth and flat, the other had a small ridge on top running the length of the handle.

Great looking pliers I'm a big fan of needle nose pliers and those are the best of both. Hopefully HFT will come out with some so I can afford them. Thanks Doc 😊

Got s 8-19mm blue point ratchet wrench set BRAND NEW IN PLASTIC 2023 DATE CODE for 150 bucks. 453 off the truck. Never thought about actually going to the pawn shops till doc was talking about it. Got a vim socket and a williams usa too 50 cent a piece

Would appreciate a side by side comparison with the Knipex XS and Knipex 125, as I am still not decided on my future pocket-carry EDC pliers.

For lighter work i have a plp300 set and the pouch has space for a couple of small drivers, it's perfect for my 3d printers and mini cnc. I'm in Europe so might be different for USA but they're made in spain and look like they have a logo on them but i can't make it out.

Just pull the grips off and look, they pull off and go right back on very easily. I do it all the time to clean the grips on my 44ACF. The 44ACF are plain and smooth underneath, but it does look like they may be changing from ACF to BCF ( were ACP before ) and the BCF series pliers might all have patterned steel handles under the grips. It would certainly make sense to have just the one set of forging dies. I was tempted to try the new 44BCFND, but now I'm hesitant because it looks like they're not rounding off the end of the handles which I don't like. It looks like an afterthought, like the handles were finished to the standard of a pair that was intended to be covered by a pair of grips. Btw if Snapon marketed these as pocket / edc pliers and offered a little belt pouch that held these and say their pocket screwdriver, they could sell a lot more of them. There are plenty of people out there who spend good money on knives and other " EDC " items but still only shop at HF for tools. They'd buy these, but still fill their toolbox with HF tools.

It's very likely that pattern isn't under there. With the plastisol dip it just makes that an unnecessary expense and extra step, usually it's accomplished with a separate press and die that forces the pattern in which means paying someone and maintaining more tooling. It's likely just plain metal, and less finished as it's not going to be seen anyway (another common practice, saves money). As for price, let's be honest, there absolutely is a brand tax. Their Financials are publicly available and they consistently post over 20% bottom line which is pretty high for a corporation. 10% is considered healthy. It's evidenced more in the rebrands they do have and the considerable markup over the originals, or wanting like $100 list for a Made in India Blue-Point hammer, that's just robbery. With several thousand dealers just in the US there's apparently quite a market for Snap-on before we get into things like Fed contracts, and people are loving these LNs and eating them up so there's not much of an argument about sales volume on them. And they can get away with it because they do produce a lot of good things, provide a convenience factor, and most importantly their Rent-A-Center-esque truck credit where a $50 tool isn't a $50 tool, it's a $12.50 for 4 weeks tool.

Those look good but I might wait to see if Icon will make something similar! Don’t have that Sanp-On money to throw around!

Closest thing I can find to them are the ips. They are pretty much the only other slip joint needle nose I can find. They have long ones similar to the Milwaukee cross grip that are slip joint and they seem to work a little better than the Milwaukee. The small ones do feel a little cheap. I got the ones w the plastic covers first and they are much better finish

You could try the compressed air handlebar trick to get the grips off, that way it's non destructive.

These would be significantly improved if one of the jaws was slightly curved. You get it in some pliers, helps grip flat things.

Cant decide between this and the knipex 08 21 145. This is shorter and slip joint but the knipex has nice cutters which i do use quit abit, also it has the notch in the pliers like the charge pliers do which is great for bending chainlink and stuff like that on the fly. Right now i alternate between a surge, charge tti or the knipex 4 inch cobras with a victoronox. The cobras are nice but i like this style pliers better for edc. Also 4 inch is a little too small for hard use and no cutters. Any suggestions?

5:20 I notice they are still rocking that rough unfinished area on the handle sides. Inexcusable on pliers at that price point.

They are enthusiastically purchased. The buyers are enthusiastic, just not that common. I am tempted by them. I’ve been looking for an excuse to stop in to a Snap On truck, and now I have it. Next time I see a Snap On truck somewhere, I will pull over and see if I can buy them.
