I have owned this bike for a long time and used it to get too and from work, as well as a couple appointments Herr and there. I loved this bike, and my only complaint is if you loss the 2 keys it's a pain in the ass to get a new one. You really hit about 22 miles an hour (I used an app to track) while pedaling and I was about 220 pounds. I was always on flat ground so I can't speak about his fuse breaking, but I'd give the bike a solid 4.5/5 as an unexperienced buyer.
I bought a Nakto cargo bike so I would have one that wouldn't tempt thieves as much as my other bikes and wouldn't cost so much to replace. I have put almost four thousand miles on it. It is easy to control and the frame fits me. The forks bottom out if I run over a shadow. The left crank falls off every few miles. The front wheel seized up in under three miles. The drum brake surprised me. It never needs adjusting, it doesn't grab and it's very predictable. The chain guard is very fragile and only lasted a few hundred miles. The seat lasted for about two thousand miles. The motor overheats and turns off. The fenders are sturdy. The gears and derailer are holding up well. I am surprised that this is the bike I ride the most when I have much better choices parked right next to it. I like it. I am ashamed that I like it but I like it.
@@chuckman38 Keep in mind that I have spent more than a thousand dollars on upgrades. I also bought another one that I use only for spare parts for the first one. The only thing I really like about it is that it fits me. I have long legs. With most bikes I can't get far enough away from the pedals and still reach the handlebars.
Thanks for this review of a low cost bike. I would love to see it be loaned to someone for a long term test and then do a report after a couple hundred miles like Consumer Reports does with long term test cars.
It will be much more affordable to take a regular bicycle to a bike shop and have it upgraded with an e-bike kit out the gate that way seems more expensive but the parts on this thing are such low quality they can't possibly last a year The rims appeared durable but they begin to rust within 24 hours of being left outside Once those spokes start breaking off your screwed
Damn it's full package for 599. - trottle check ✅️ - front and back headlights ✅️ - front suspension and suspension seatpost ✅️ - mudguards ✅️ - front and back rack ✅️
had one for 2 years, one of the best purchases of my life but it depends on your travel distances. This bike saved me so much money. however the version I have is better, metal front basket and a different stand
I have a 26" nakto camel 250 watt 36 volt 10 ah battery I'm a 235 lbs 70 years old man I have had my bike for 2 years and I will buy another one if this one wears out. Not a thing wrong with my bike.
So in Sweden we have a store brand that sell cheep bikes that have battery bmses that render the battery useless after about two years of normal use (planned obsolescence). But if you open the battery up and disconnect the bms from power for a while(I think you have to solder) it resets!
I bought the Nakto Classic a few months back for my wife, basically the same bike with a slightly different shaped frame and solid fork. Works quite fine for my wife and even pulls my 250 lb. body without much issue. Rim brakes are marginal, but nothing dangerous. Certainly worth the money. No fuse issues with ours.
@@lisampb8178 hey did you get it? If so how is it? My work is 10miles away im thinking about getting an ebike to get me to work an back. Do you think it will be good to go to work and back?
@@matthewhankins1577 the bike came really quick, probably 4 days. I was expecting a delay because of Covid but nope. Took hubby 20 min to put together. Basket was shipped separately and honestly it looks great without it. I wouldn't put much in it as it's kinda flimsy. The bike itself is so much fun I can't even describe it! My friends ride much more than I do (on manual bikes) so they're actually the reason I bought it, so I could keep up. I live in Florida where it's flat so depending on hills etc where you live you should be ok. Worse that could happen is you may have to peddle a little. There was an instant $20 coupon and shipping was free. Reviews were good and the price can't be beat. I say go for it 😃
I just rode along with a lady that had one like this. That thing will really move out. I was on my E-Ride City and her Man was riding a regular Mountain Bike. She literary left us in the wind. Of course mind is pedal assist . Hers had a throttle that locked in place like a cruise control.
I bought one for my 75 yo mom. She will love it. She went on a 20 mile ride up Zions national park on rented ebikes that was uphill one way but she will love riding around her neighborhood and close park for exercise
I got one of these brand new for half price on Craigslist so 400bucks. I recomend to change the tires bc it comes with some generic slow ones you will notice the difference right away. Very happy with it. It looks very nice to me and thats enough. I dont want to get anybodys atention specially thieves.its been a year and. I got so much from this bike for what i paid
The closest equivalent here in the Philippines is the Breeze (equivalent to Nakto Camel). They seem to have slightly different, but much better specs. I've been highly tempted to get one (or a Fiido D4S, but I don't really need the portability) since the yearly sale is ongoing until the next month. + Hydraulic disc brakes! + 48V system + Display screen instead of LED + 5 levels of assist + Alloy frame - Rigid fork, but upgradeable to suspension fork through the shop for an additional fee The caveat is the normal price is $855, but the sale price right now is $599! And the official store for it offers great support and customizations (e.g. custom colors for a fee), or so I hear.
Mine lasted 1 ride. The battery died after.5 miles. I had a damaged patella on my left knee that was too weak to pedal with. At 5 miles, I had to fully pedal the bike. Then the back tire blew out causing me to fall on my damaged knee. After surgery I have totally lost flexibility in that knee. Bike is unreturnanle and manufacturer says it's an insurance issue. After all my research and testing out my friends e bikes for months, this was the biggest mistake purchase of my life. I just sold the bike.for 100.00. Purchased 3 months ago.
Don’t buy it. I requested a refund literally 2 days after I got it b/c it wasn’t working and they continued to convince me to keep it, ultimately refusing my refund. Once again… DON’T BUY IT!!
Hey that picnic basket is the bikes best feature even though it's made out of cheap plastic It looks very Unbecoming on a men's bike but it's very practical for the short. Of time it will last
I just bought one of these bikes and I'm hoping that it'll help me to be able to get around my small town in Moab Ut. I'll update after I put some miles on it lol!
I have one of these and have ridden it over 400 miles so far with no problems so far ! I also have one of their "speed green" models . It has over 1300 miles on it . Still has original tires and brakes and no issues eather.
Just a quick question. I have ordered three e-bikes and as of today only received one from Rad Power Bikes. One of the other bikes got shipped back to the sender for some resin that I don't know. The other one was from Nakto, "I ordered it through AMAZON" a folding cargo bike. The Nakto has been on the way for over a month now and they keep saying it's on the way. Can I ask, who you order your bikes from? And do you have the same issues I have in trying to order e-bikes? Thank you, Harold Love the RadWagon!
Thanks for another budget bike review. This one isn't my style, but it's nice to see there's a good range of reviews for people who can't drop a grand. Now, I'm wondering just how many of these 250w motors are actually 350w in disguise? ...and does it really make that much of a difference?
You're better off getting a bike kit the most expensive route is through a bike shop but Walmart does carry them I haven't tested Walmart ebike conversion kits but if they're made out of the same cheap metal this thing is I would highly recommend against them
hello. my nakto camel 250w 36v bike has a good battery 41 volts as shown on ohm meter, and shows full charge on throttle lights. once i go to ride it will start to run down quickly. then it will cut out. once i turn the key off and back on it does fine but then will cut out again. could it be a bad battery but still read 41 volts? or coud it be another issue? the bike is 2019 and hasnt been rode much, but also was not charged regularly as it should have been. thanks for any help. i just bought a pair of these bikes from elderly couple on marketplace. whats weird is that they are both the same model but have different battery pack sizes. one bike is older than the other. both bikes read 41 volts and the other bike does fine, but the older bike (2019)model is the one with issue. im new to ebikes and i know nothing about them. very sad that i have trouble before i can enjoy the bikes
Can someone help me please, the battery on my bike is stuck, I can’t take it out, even when I follow the directions of turning the key to unlock. I want to be able to take it out to charge it since I park my bike in my yard. Someone help me pleeeeease! I can’t find anything online or even on Amazon where I bought it about a stuck battery 😢
Hell I gotta Nakto Santa Monica and I got that thing to go 50 miles an hour on a straightaway and that bike is only classified to go 24 to 29 miles an hour
Unless one spends almost all his time in a prosperous community that keeps its roads and sidewalks in good repair, I do no think riding a bicycle, motorized or not, a good idea. There are not many communities that are in such good financial shape in the USA. I believe the appearance of "fat" tired bicycles and e-bikes are a response to this reality. It is very unpleasant and dangerous to be thrown from a bike because one of its tires was caught in a crack in the road or sidewalk.
@@DontRunReload I got the 500 series. It rides great but there is a lot of rattling and it feels a lot more clunkier than a normal bike. I feel like it was worth it but I always end up riding my regular road bike because it is soo nimble and light. It's also one of the nicest looking bikes I've seen. Last thing I wanted to mention, if you ride with level assist at 7-9 the battery dies out pretty quick
How good is the bike in the long run? Does the battery sustain bumps on sidewalks? Can it be used as a daily commuter even in a snowy weather? How good are the breaks?
Gene's continual repetition of the "cheap" price seemingly to limit what is to be expected from the bike, I find inappropriate. If a component or operation is not what it should be, then the "cheap" aspect would be a delusion. So, either the subject-item is adequate and acceptable or it is not. Being "cheap" would be small comfort if it fails to do the job.
This is not a great bike, It is not pedal assist as advertised. The speed cannot be adjusted. Once you start peddling it takes over and is very DANGEROUS! Do not want to buy this bike unless you want a moped.
You have the automatic function engaged. Press the red button on the right under your break and it will disengage. It will not “take over” if you don’t have it in that mode.
I bought a tail G electric scooter 48 volts 350 Watts and I can get more than 25 miles I go to work and come back with no issues, is a 48 volts 12 hour battery and it's pretty good not only that is not lithium is lead acid the only difference I think is the weight but I can go up to 26 miles per hour 👍💪
My friend has this bike, nothing bad has happened to hers. I have the classic version. Came short circuited and light kept falling off. Same with the basket.
Sounds like a good first bike for going to College or just a daily short commute. Good summary. Can't argue with the price either. The basket has to go!
I have several steep hills in my neighborhood that have to pedal STRONG on hills now. After hearing his explanation about the fuse, I may investigate this now, as after a year I am starting to have issues with the battery.
We live on a medium steep hlll that we have to go down and up to go anywhere. Do you think I need a stronger battery than the one that comes with this Nakto?
Thanks to capitalism and milking the covid-19 pandemic the prices on these things have been jacked up. For over glorified bicycles with motors on them they should at the very least make them better quality I mean it is the price of the motor that makes it more expensive everything else should be relatively reliable bought the men's version of the bike to commute to work on a daily basis was limited to this option because I couldn't afford something that cost more money than my yearly income Paid 700 for it after tax and that was the clearance sale reduced price It is inferior in every way shape and form to e bikes built in the 1990s Coming out of the box it had heavy rust like thicker than what most bikes have been sitting outside for 20 years have on them the rest was coming out of the attachment between the gooseneck and the forks and was so thick it could not be brushed off I will be surprised if the bike last longer than a year before it is complete and total garbage Sitting outside like all the other bikes do and my dogs peed on the Wheel ., there was rust where they peed in less than 24 hours OTHER bikes sit out there for years before they show signs of rust., the paint on the bike itself though appears like it might be durable but that remains to be tested the cheap plastic basket looks very girly but is probably the most important feature on the bike if you don't want to carry stuff in a backpack the horn is an embarrassment and it sounds like something you would put on a three-year-old child's tricycle Nonetheless I've tested it and people completely and totally ignore the horn even when they're blocking my path and I'm sitting three feet behind them you but when they put the bike together they obviously knew the horn was totally ineffective and they provided the cheapest Bell possible to go along with it you can find the Bell on the shelves at Walmart for about $3 and It is also a sound that people ignore / they might cock their head periodically and wonder what it was actually have to come to a dead stop speak up and say hey excuse me any and every other horn or Bell I've ever had and people at least look and step to the side The reason I needed an electric bike is because my legs are damaged this bike is in capable of climbing the hill that I have to get over to get to work the ebike I had before was the original ebike from 1997 and it had no problem doing 25 miles an hour over the hill the top speed on this thing feels like it's under 20 miles an hour and it has a maximum of a 6 mile range before it is completely dead taking a total of over 4 hours to charge For a low-budget bike the seat actually looks pretty cool but it is really uncomfortable and it Wiggles Massive amounts of money must have been spent on marketing research to make this thing as crappy as possible I dread having to call on the warranty for everything that's going to fall apart on it customer service is a nightmare especially on crab products It is the cheapest ebike I could find sadly the more expensive ones are much better So I think its girly basket is actually functional I like the cheap flimsy latch that closes the opening & will have to find a way to paint it and hope the paint sticks to plastic The rack behind the seat is actually fairly decent and I cannot complain in any way shape or form about it to date but then I haven't put much weight on it yet I plan to attach baskets to the side of it for when I go shopping I believe it will hold the weight and see no reason why it won't the tires have really good traction for cheap skinny looking Wheels although I probably shouldn't have said that because of the manufacturer sees this comment they'll change the wheels out for something less effective I don't think the basket will last long I'll probably have to replace it soon but I do like it even if it does look like crap and is made out of cheap plastic I might actually invest $30 in fiberglass material to plaster over top of it make it stronger the headlight can't stay in place it keeps falling off I'll have to find a way to replace that probably by duct taping a flashlight in place the seat will have to replace soon I imagine of a break off on its own soon enough and won't be worth the hassle to get a warranty replacement my advice if somebody is dumb enough to buy this bike and they're throwing it at his garbage it's worth salvaging But you're still better off buying a kit from a bike shop for a couple hundred dollars more and having a regular bicycle converted into an e-bike because this thing is going to cost a fortune to maintain I mean you have to replace the light the seat the handlebars suck ass the baskets not going to last long the rims are rusting and the gooseneck is bound to snap off for the forks because that's rusting out from the inside
👋 I need your advice I have a 24 mile one way commute trying to make it there on throttle only in less than 1 hour. The onyx RCR is out of my budget. I want to spend less than 2k do you think this is achievable? Or should I up my budget? Thanks
For a little over $1k you can get a 3200w electric scooter that comes with a seat and have suspension shocks front n back and cushion on the seat. And will get you good 40 mph if not faster and can get you 50+ miles in range if you go with optional larger battery (32 Ah or higher) They are available at alibaba
I_need_1_Decillion_Dollars I was looking at a bike on alibaba “Powerful 72V 8000W 60 MPH High Speed 2 Wheels Electric Motorbike 8000 Watt Ebike “ is alibaba trust worthy? Never bought anything from there.
@@Michelleana Neither have I but God told me that is the place to go to get electric scooters for low price. Turned out that they sell at wholesale price from the factory so you'll get a lot for your money. Make sure that "Trade Assurance" sign is in the seller website as it protects buyer from fraud as they'll refund you the money if things go wrong. The wait time for delivery is 1 to 1 1/2 month. So you want to go the electric bike route? I don't know why God was against me going that route cause that's what I was going to buy (motor and electric kit) for my bike. My 5600w scooter gets me guaranteed 56 mph (57 mph top speed) and no pedaling, LOL 😄 I got mine from eBay though
Throttle only, 24 miles each way, surface roads, under $2k, I'd be looking at a 125cc scooter or better yet a tiny motorcycle like a K-pipe. It's gas, but your carbon footprint will be so much better than a car, and they're fun. If you don't mind pedaling, the Sondors Thin has a great battery and is a thousand bucks. I'm thinking about reliability and the quality of your commute. I don't see a cheap ebike or escooter doing fifty miles a day on throttle only for very long.
Yes, you could spend thousands of dollars on an eBike ru-vid.comUgkxUiL0GnyDjP32RJdd660sP8mZk4CRLTCJ and get something much higher quality. However, if you're looking for a basic model to try out eBiking this is a great choice. The assembly is easy as far as bikes go (took about an hour for me to do, I'm not an expert). All tools needed are included. I added the plastic mud guards you see and a more comfortable seat. The other reviews are correct that you're probably going to want a better seat (Giddy Up! Bike Seat is what I got - super comfortable). The battery easily handles a 2-4 hour ride if you add some of your own pedal power. I haven't even gotten it up to top speed yet - it is very fast. Components are not top of the line, but decent for the price and work just fine. It works great on dirt roads and singletrack and pavement although too heavy to do tricks or any serious technical mountain biking. I'm looking forward to using it a lot over the summer. Tons of fun!
