actually, nal_ra brought them back to kill the turret that was attacking the 4 locked down carriers. This ended up costing him the rest of his fleet. If you watch it he was retreating the carriers till he saw that the turret was attacking them so he focus fired the turret. I highly doubt he would take a huge risk to please the fans, especially considering he was playing against BoxeR.
nal ra let boxer lock the carriers for the fans to enjoy. nal ra still knew he could win because of his economic advantage. But still both of them still rock
For those of you that say BoxeR should have won after destroying those carriers - not true. Nal_rA switched back to mass goons before his carriers got destroyed. Tanks > Goons > Goliaths, but BoxeR was too busy massing combating the carriers to produce tanks. GG. +fav.
gosh that was INTENSE i almost shit on my pants when Boxer tried to lockdown Nalra's carriers.. i thought he wouldnt have time to destory em but he did... well almost 1 lived. Anyway great game. Both players are awesome.
*For all the fools who will try to correct the "thunderstorm" comment, I was referring to the multi-Psionic Storm use as a "thunderstorm". I didn't get the ability name wrong ;).
Boxer should've definitely made Science Vessels. He should've used them to EMP the Templars. and I think he should made medics to blind the observers and make a couple of wraiths to cloak and kill the Carriers. Even tho Nal_ra won, I think that he should've used reavers and arbiters.
Wow, he locked down all those carriers and still lost :/!!!!!! I've been playing this game for a good 2 years and I follow the pro-scene very much and I know my Starcraft, but when these kind of things happen it always stumps me... GG!~
man what an intense match b/w 2 all time greatest sc players!! I just wished that boxer kept on pushing like commentator said when he knocked out his ground units/carriers the first time but he failed to do so and waited for the ghosts(ghost tactic failed yet again). There's so much more to talk about but we should know that pro vs pro, PvT, toss usually has greater advantage in the end all b/c of carriers and templers
*re-watches the vid w/o skipping* Ah i see, haven't played the game for so long. Begining to blur between the two =p Anyway, i just thought it was weird that nukes, emp/sci vessel and valks weren't used at all. (Or idid i missed it)
You do realise that spider mines do not target probes, its only through the splash damage in which they kill probes. Not only that, with good shuttle control, spider mines can become a liability to the terran army due to collateral damage. (Realise that critics review Starcraft 1 as the most balanced non-mirror matchup RTS)
hmmm, just wondering, was this SC without the expansion or? too bad its not fully in game, and the commentators dont concentrate on their sneaky moves enough.
the map was for toss or zerg, not terran, and carrier plus high temp was just gg. when the game prolongs after 35 mins, toss auto wins due to stronger units individually and way superior mobility. but thats all after a huge collection of resources and time for such actions. give a small open map, who's nal_ra?
im sorry but isnt the observer ALSO limited since they have to travel when the comsat does not? and so what of the dark templar's high damage? they can kill a few marines, then are instantly found out and killed by comsats and science vessels. siege tank's splash damage is far more consistent and longer ranged than reaver damage. vultures cost just 75 minerals but can cause far greater damage than their equivalent. Finally, if starcraft was not balanced, everyone would just play toss. they dont.
Vulture's shells you do realise are very good at taking out enemy drones/probes. Two shots kill :). No other unit kills them so fast. The mines simply need to be put on the right spot and not getting too much units near them.
oh, so the zerg and terrans don't have an offence that doesn't leave you alone. And actually the SCV and Command Center both have more life than their protoss counterpart's shields COMBINED. plus shields always take full damage from any attack. a unit with 75 hp and 25 shield will, under most circumstances, be weaker than a unit with 90 hp. all three races have their advantages and disadvantages and it's not fair to say the toss are strongest "and their only weakness is minerals".
you are wrong, 4 marines actually beats a a zealot. and cost wise, 1 zealot=4 zerglings. 4 zerglings also beat a zealot. terrans have a detector that can see anywhere in the map, at any time INSTANLY. They have lockdown, in almost every way superior to statis field, they have the longest range unitin the game, they have the highest damage dealing weapons in the game. You are pointing out protoss strengths while completely ignoring terran ones.
so much more intense than sc2... in brood war, when something was imba, they balanced it by buffing everything else. in sc2, they nerf whatever is too strong. the result is a really slow game that's getting slower with every patch.
but then again, terran cannot pack a strong punch unless you have good controls. however, boxer has godlike control and surprising tatics, which makes him such a good player even in sc2
I wish korean terran players made bunkers and upgraded infantry weapons. They're still useful when you're not playing against ai protoss because they can't micro disruption web as easily as ai.

SC1 is not balanced. Come on three mines per vulture costing 75 minerals? Even if you use only one mine it is still profitable because it gives great ground defence/scouting/attacking as fodder/killing probes/draining shield/health. Also vultures need to be hit 4 times from dragoon which is way more expensive unit and zealots can't get close to hit them. Zerg zerglins are also sitting ducks. Hydras are ok but still the point is Terran is best if you have enough effective APM.
Boxer is no longer "in his prime" because he's doing things other than playing StarCraft BW all day like the rest of these people (he's in the military too!). He's doing great considering that little handicap, so all you people saying Boxer is a "has been" should lick donkey-balls :P. This was a great game!!!both players pwned!! :) Psionic thunderstorm, lol.
