I tutor people in math and science and visit educational videos on RU-vid fairly regularly. I think one of the 10+ year replies was on an ultrasound video, but I can't quite remember now.

No, you have to include both the carbons involved in the double bond, in the configuration you suggested only one of the carbons involved in the double bond is considered. @@sanyasarin

the double bond has to be included in the longest chain. It means the WHOLE bond, not just a part of it

7:48 It's always good to remember that the chain has to go through the double-bond, even if you could make a longer chain elsewhere. Thanks for the explanation and all of the examples!
