I like the way he mix technical with groove in his riffs
@AgathiusMusic
@AgathiusMusic 3 года назад
1:07 Damn those riffs are technical, this guy should definitely make a song out of those riff and probably name it like "The Alchemist" or something you know since its so technical.

And he wrote all these riffs himself too! He should make a song called “I, The Creator” or something

I've never seen a guy that absolutely whacks the life of each and every string on a guitar...till today! Who needs renewable energy these days? Just ask John Browne to downpick continuously and the sun might just go into hiding.

@soysauce9296
@soysauce9296 10 лет назад
***** Oh I know, I know Gnosis front-to-back haha, was such an inspiring album. That entire progression at 1:05 in this video tho is so dirty. You can tell Monuments is never gonna really stray from their sound too much, and I think that's an excellent thing.

@Samus5164
@Samus5164 10 лет назад
Antoniusness I honestly think Browne has a better right-hand form than Hetfield has, but Het is definitely the master of rhythm playing. Browne's able to downpick pretty much anything.
@grievous56
@grievous56 10 лет назад
Antoniusness Although Hetfield is great at downpicking, I think John Brownes downpicking technique is definitely far superior than Hetfields.
@_NotEnoughMana
@_NotEnoughMana 10 лет назад
Filips Krauklis Now Now, lets not get ahead of ourselves. Both of them have superior downpicking skills. Its just that at his time back in the 80's Hetfield was the king and now the mantle is passed on to Browne, in our time. ;)

I just can't figure out what he's playing at 2:25, that chord shape thing where he picks the strings separately. I've tried to figure it out multiple times now, but if I have the same chord shape as he has and pick it the same way he does it still doesn't sound the same. Does he have his guitar in a weird tuning? I thought it was just a half step down. Anyone any ideas?

Most of the video is on the 667, but towards the end he switched to the Satan. Mind you that this is just an on-camera mic that's shifting around, so this it's hardly a scientific tone representation.

The guitarist from Jinjer has a similar style. A lot of technical riffing with taps and all kinds of stuff. This is not bad but I'd throw in some more feel with playing parts slower or with less volume not with the same aggression from start till end. Obviously John is a great guitar player, excellent rhythm. Have not really heard lots of his stuff so I don't know his lead play..
