In this exclusive NAMM / Believe in Music interview, Gibson TV host Mark Agnesi talks with Heart co-founder and Rock and Roll Hall of Fame member Nancy Wilson. In their wide-ranging discussion, Mark and Nancy talk about when she started playing, her musical influences, her first guitar, and her first Gibson Les Paul. While 50% of guitars sold today are sold to females, Nancy describes what it was like dealing with the "boys club" mentality of other guitarists in her early years when female players were less common.
Mark and Nancy also discuss the legendary acoustic guitar introduction to Heart's Crazy on You, as well as Nancy's brand-new Epiphone Nancy Wilson Fanatic signature model, including her drawings of the guitar's shape, the features that it has, and the types of guitar and amp sounds that she prefers. They wrap up the interview by discussing the influence that Nancy has had on other guitarists, and her plans for the future, including her upcoming solo album, You and Me, which will be released sometime in late February or early March.

Listening to Chuck Berry hits and early Beatles hits. The similarities of the sound. The same swing without the piano of Chuck's pianists and they had the harmonies thrown in kinda like the Everly Brothers. Love Your catalog of music instruction for us guitar pickers.

A shout out to Mark. Good interview, good questions. A little different from describing the frets on a vintage SG, which I also enjoyed. Looking forward to more vids like this.

Looking forward to checking the "Fanatic" out.. I've been looking for a guitar lighter in weight, but with a thicker neck profile than an SG. I DIG IT! Rock On Nancy!

Ahhhhh, Nancy Wilson. I was 16 when I was introduced to Heart, through the '77 album Little Queen. Love, love, love. I remember looking at the members names, and saw that Nancy played guitar. Cool. Then a short time later, I saw Heart on Don Kirshner's or that Friday night rock show (can't recall it right now) and they play Crazy on You. Nancy turned into a Goddess in my eyes at that point. A lot of female R&R axe players have come up since those days. In my opinion, Nancy Wilson broke diwn the wall for them. Still so pretty as well. So cool she is doing this with Gibson!

I don’t know who designed the NightHawk, but I bought one new from Gibson in 1993 and it’s still a favorite. I have a lovely LP, Vintage Strats, Teles, 335, Gretsch, Jr, PRS, but when you need a NightHawk, only a NightHawk will do. Mark? What about the NightHawk?

@@saintrhoads3375 oh I'm not too sure, having Mustaine on Gibson would be a brilliant move, it would open them up to an untapped metal market with a lot of potential. Though doing a dual Gibson/Kramer release would be the best.

@@Cashrock I agree, but I also think that Gibson is trying to utilize Epiphone and Kramer. To me, it seems like they are dead weights.

Woman don't buy 50% of guitars. Have you ever been in a guitar store where half the players are girls? I don't buy it.

Not sure about in America; but the metric is certainly true in other nations, at least in a anecdote personal experience kind of way. In various places in Asia some guitar stores are actually more like 75% women. It used to be the primary reason I went to one of them so often (lol). You always imagine that the west is male dominant; things are changing alot in that regard too now though. So many female guitarists finding success online and one of the few times I popped down to Guildford in the UK (Andertons) there was a massive shop wave of women. So I don't discount it. No doubt it varies from time to time.
