The fun fact is that no one is justifiable to condemn or summon anyone for filing an RTI as per the law of the land. The Village Council has no right whatsoever.

Aadhaar like it's a condition to file RTI. Also, Aadhaar address can be anywhere of previous legit residence, not necessarily from the present residence to qualify as resident. 🤣🤣
Whether he is habitual liar or has criminal record in the past or may be he might be from different village,if he is a Citizen of India than still he can file RTI as per the Act.
After watching this interview my respect for that brave man has been elevated even more. Why are this council members trying so hard to divert the issue by digging out all his past at such platform. He may have a good or bad record in the past but that doesnt deprive anybody from filing an RTI. I hope the concern authority will investigate into this matter and deliver justice to this lone fighter.

Dear union every individual has the right to file an RTI and also even if he came only on 2021 or 1997 he has the right to do RTI.. Also if your works are clean then why afraid of RTI? Again even if he have some cases pending or whatever he has the right to do RTI

Anything that happens would lead to court cases and prison sentences for the guilty so the administration and police should investigate who is wrong. Anyone stopping RTI should be chargesheeted according to act and jailed as well as blacklisted for future. 1)Village councils have no right to question anyone filing an RTI. 2) Any clarification should be through the Information Commission. 3) Individuals should not file RTI for gaining personal gains. Let Police investigate!

Chairman statements is totally disagreed. As far as village council chairman post is concerned, village chairman's used to elect by village citizens and even VDB secretary's too used to elect by village council members and then send his bio-data to govt.inorder indentified by the Govt. ✌️✌️
No matter how head or dangor you may be... RTI is a constitutional right to every citizen of India. If you people think you are doing right then there is no need to summon him nor need to be afraid.

This village is not your fathers private property, this village comes under state govt, under village council act. Whether the RTI activist have any ill motive or criminal record, the village council have no authority to summon him against the filing of RTI. It's the authority od dept to verify the authenticity of RTI and the applicant. Self styled authorities like these village councils should be dismissed from the office immediately.

All the VCC, VDB Secy,GB's of village are internally connected because they are getting their shares whereas, the poor villagers are just a mare spectator.It's time to open the eyes of all the villagers in Nagaland.
Why summon in the first place? Any individual can file an RTI? Bit confusing. And who told the council members that he has filed an RTI? RD department has to answer on this.
So loud and aggressive, they sound like a bunch of goons. And this is a press conference, imagine how they behave behind closed doors? But the jokes on us really (the common public) we elect these goons and put them in positions of power.
Why are they instigating him to withdraw his RTI when they are repeatedly saying that all the developmental works are carry out and benefited by the citizens of Jalukie Valley. Now we are curious why they don't want the RTI which will be transparent or are they scared that they will be exposed?

Under duress and coercion signature is taken, therefore no point trying to be holier than thou... What bad image will the RTI bring if you all have accountability and transparency ? Labelling the rti activist as liar, crooked and problem maker is unbecoming of village leaders. For the record harassment is not only confined to physical but mind, which is more lethal. Not only RD dept, he should file multiple rti in various departments. We should not allowed any authority to override our legitimate rights.

I don't think filing RTI affect the funds received from the RD department unless those funds goes in their pocket😂thats why they said it might affect the funds which they get from RD department,since they are scared of their misdeeds being exposed by a 66 year old honest farmer.😂

Was RTI addressed to village council members??Union has no right to interfere or summon any individual who file an RTI .. everything is just an ego ... council has no rights to judge anyone...any citizen of India have the right to information. This council were seen to b so afraid of RTI, whatever Mr Namsilakbe maybe, but he has the right to file an RTI when he fell unsatisfied with the development work or anything. people's of jalukie should raise up in support of Mr Namsilakbe as he is fighting for the benefits of the village welfare.
To set the record straight. First, Village Councils don't have any authority to summon or take cognizance of any individual filing RTI application in any Government Department across Nagaland. This is a gross violation of Fundamental Rights under Article 19 & 21. Second, RTI application is purely a matter between the Citizens and the Government/ Public Institutions & Instruments of the State. It is not between citizens & citizens. In this case, this RTI application case solely lies with the Department & The applicant, 3rd party interference is unwarranted as this amounts to intimidation tactics seen across India with RTI activists time and again. Third, all village councils across Nagaland have every right to access and get grants from the Government, filing an RTI application will not stop funds flowing to the village development board, that'll be an injustice on the part of the Department and invite legal action. Fourth, In this case, seems like the Department or whosoever involved in Development Funds armtwist the village council to subjugate and deter the RTI applicant, a reality which is present everywhere in Naga society. Fifth, If the Village funds are well utilized & transparent at the grassroot level there's nothing to be alarmed about someone filing an RTI application in the Department, infact the villagers should thank the person for advocating transparency and taking cognizance of funds rightfully allocated to the village by the department. Lastly, I won't be surprised if the RTI applicant filed an FIR for Mental Harassment under IPC and Signature under Duress.
For press conference, why must there be so many members in the frame? Was it because they all wanted some publicity? Two-three spokesperson is enough. Well, there is no need for clarification, you all council have no right to summon anyone based on RTI filing. All of you seems young and dynamic but the way you treated RTI activist is appalling. It makes you look immature. Working and ongoing construction doesn't mean he can't file RTI. He is seeking information, utilization certificate and budget alloted. He doesn't have to know anything about past 20,30 years to file RTI, he doesn't have to be truth teller to file RTI and you all don't need to interfere in anyway. Consider, of all the things he said is a lie, there still remain some mysteries like what compelled him to agree to withdraw RTI? Why council assist him in writing withdrawal letter? Wasn't council members as leaders supposed to assist citizens in filing RTI rather than assisting in withdrawing? Please note that RD dept is not helping you, you are getting your fair share as a tax payers or surplus from elsewhere. If RD dept is working honestly, they would have no issue giving reply to RTI. Brother, the last person that spoke, you don't have to worry about facing whoever is helping you because RTI cannot harm honest people and honest officers. Also, good and honest officer love giving truth certificate, your relationship with those people is totally safe. Maybe you all have something to hide, and that RTI might expose something about you, we don't know. But thats the only area where clarification was really needed. Give clarification whether you have anything to hide or not. Otherwise, there no need for clarification on your overreaching authority by summoning someone who filed RTI apart from many other reason. Also, summon was made by group of village chairman when it was under the jurisdiction of the alleged person village council. He don't need any identification to file RTI as long as he is the citizen of India. Grow up

I have heard of people secretly bribing RTI activist, heard not proof, but I have never heard of any summon based on RTI applications. My village council are not bring deprived of any right. Summon based on RTI is not one of their many rights. 🤷♀️🤷♀️
