My Mom would play this album over n over when I was about 12, she had great taste in music, n I'm 61 now, n missing her like crazy, music helps to comfort me, she died 5 years ago
This song reminds of my childhood friend. He had a job in Toronto; wanted his own company and went to Edmonton with his wife and 2 small children; decided he would rather work in Vancvouver and moved there with his wife and three children. Then he decided to return to Toronto and left his wife and children in Vancouver. Never found what he was looking for and died 5 years ago at age 60.
Lee was in a class of his own, helped by that vibrating sensual instrument, his voice and talent. Emotion is very important in a song and these two carry it off brilliantly. Lee as the somewhat sheep-faced dreamer and Nancy as a devoted "little woman."
i just love this song as a matter of fact i love every song on this album i never get tired of hearing these songs no one could ever sing them like nancy and lee
When I was stationed on the island of Mauritius with the RN, we had this LP Fairy Tales and Fantasies, in Wrens' quarters, which I played non-stop. Whenever I hear any of the tracks, it takes me back to 1969 and Mauritius. Happy Times.
Had a high school friend once who the song Elusive Dream could have been written for - married with 2 children, wandered across Canada for his one big break - wife finally left him in British Columbia but he never stopped looking for his big break. SO SAD
This has been my fav song when i was a kid, but then one day my dad jus threw away their cd and i wasn´t able to listen to it anymore! Now after more than 10 years i finally found it here. Thank u so much for posting!!! Still my fav song
This will mean nothing to anyone BUT, I first heard this as an 18 year old Brit who had emigrated to Australia in 1969 and was working in the Iron Ore mines of Paraburdoo and Tom Price in Western Australia.Them was the days!
@XxSternchenxX8 @phonicwheel It is so sad when music is thrown away,,, just as bad as throwing away a classic book,,, This was one of my favorite duets in the 1960's,,, and still is,,,,,, Nancy's song, "TIME" and her duet with Lee in "SAND" are wonderful~! IMNSHO, this is the only version of "ELUSIVE DREAMS" worth hearing, though others are okay, as well
Lee Hazlewood was "Pop"? That's a new one. The Houston/Wynette version is my favorite, too, but not because Hazlewood lacked the talent to write or perform--in ANY genre.
You have it BACKWARDS. Tammy/Davids version is really amazing, also Bobbie Gentry/Glen Campbells was great too. Pop singers just cant sing Country. They should stick to Pop. A genre that requires little talent.
