Hey CLTaggart! Just left you a voicemail :) We totally understand this video -- with the aluminum, applying the Nano Polymer Adhesive while the bed is cold, which does not work well. We have MIC-6 aluminum plates of our own, and it really has to be applied when the plate is hot to work -- 110-120c, spread it out, it will boil and leave a bit of a "dusty" or crystallized surface -- just about everything sticks to that! After you remove the part, you can just add a little bit where the part printed, while the plate is hot, and it will keep working :) Furthermore, we've got brand-new versions of our carbon build plates coming out that when combined with the Nano Polymer, are a ridiculous combination for bed adhesion -- especially for extra large parts -- apply cold, print anything, and they're good up to 200ºC -- we'd love to make you a custom size! Reach out to us and we'll set you up with a custom plate for your Modix :)

Let me guess, you have to say the magic words, as you heat the bed, then apply with a brush taken from King Tut's tomb, on the first moon of the last month of the winter solstice. Yep. Got it.

I've had similar experience with this stuff - If any of the lines stick they eventually peel up as you showed. It works relatively well with a PEI surface on top of 17-4SS, but I like printing directly on 17-4SS and it doesn't work at all. I've found that printing on a plastic film with high warp material strains the adhesive of the PEI and pulls the PEI away from the solid surface.

Dude. The stuff is junk. End of story.

when it fails, is its failing to stick to the print or the bed?

Specifically, difficulty sticking to an aluminum bed

I agree this stuff does not work, basically snake oil for 3D Printing. I had much better success with Layerneer Original Bed Weld, make bed temperature 65, and when it cools the part just pops off. I bought the Nano Polymer after the Layerneer Bed Weld thinking it was the wave of the future but I was extremelly disappointed, I wasted a lot of filament before I just gave up and tossed it in the circular file cabinet.

I honestly had no idea people are printing right off of aluminum. Such a porous material. I can only imagine what is still in there from over the years. Welding aluminum can be a real PITA sometimes just because it's been soaking up some filth.

Get an old pair of jeans and cut up the material so you can put it on your buildplate, hold it on with double sided thermal tape

That might actually work to some extent, but the parts I print are 4 feet long. There would still be warping and it would be a lot of jeans. I have found other ways to reduce the warping since this video. The point here is that the company makes it sound like prints will just stick to it and not warp, but unfortunately that is not true.
