You can check out Bloodywood. They are an Indian folk metal band and have played at Wacken in 2019. I hope you like them. Most of their songs have a message behind them which they speak about at the end of the videos. Jee Veeray is about fighting depression and my favourite. You can also check out Yaad if you like pets. Myrath is another metal band from Tunisia who are equally awesome. I don't understand them but I love them nonetheless.
@@fredosinsemilla3896 it is because many greenlandic have lots of scandinavian genes. If you where to outside the larger cities people would probably look more like an inuit
I have no idea how it would happen but this makes me wanna see him do a similar thing with The Hu. They are like the Mongolian version of this, mixing traditional Mongolian instruments and throatsinging with metal and rock estethics greating something super unique
@@eswarjuri I think the particular draw of The HU is that theyre a rock/metal band that incorporates traditional Mongolian folk instruments and Mongolian throat singing.

I'm gonna get pushback for this but I think it would be really cool if these guys represented Denmark at Eurovision. It'd be really cool to get the Greenlandic language at the contest and it would show a different side of Denmark at the contest than is typically seen. Plus their music is really good!
No pushback. That's an awesome idea. As a finn I would love Stam1na to represent Finland as we haven't had a song in our native language for a while and it's a bit annoying.
With the success Go_A had this year, I really hope more modern traditional bands get featured in eurovision. They're always my favorite including Keiino.

Dude, you have got me super into Nanook the last couple years. They're like EXACTLY what I love in music. Little bit of Fleet Foxes, little bit of Angus Stone, a little bit of bright eyes with the bells and soft instrumentation, and even some Sigur ros in there. I love it. It gets hot here in Phoenix and sometimes I need that Greenlandic cool :) Ingerlaliinnaleqaagut is my favorite song for anyone interested in them
Your videos have definitely made me want more and more to go to Greenland. I’ve been listening to a lot of Inuit folklore lately and stories. It’s impressive what a country they have built for themselves. Even if they are still under Denmark power.

There's a really interesting museum near Jakobstad in Finland about Greenland exploration and history called Nanoq. Well worth the trip if you happen to be in the area.
Definitely my favorite band!! Discovered them randomly a few years ago, and they've been accompanying me since. Saw them twice in Reykjavik while living there, and despite not understanding a word, I was completely absorbed! Hope to see them again sometime soon, maybe in my hometown of Montréal! There are lots of urban inuit down here **shrug**

I can’t imagine Nanook’s music in any other language. The sounds of the language fit so beautifully into their instrumentation to create a truly unique and haunting experience.
The history of Nanook reminds me of one rock band from my homeland (the Basque Country) called Berri Txarrak. They were active from 1994 to 2019 and ended touring around the world (through many places in Europe and USA, to Japan, including South America and even Oceania) only singing in basque. Only the ones who understand basque really understood their lyrics, however they were quite succesfull even in the rest of Spain. They even had a collab with a more well known band, Rise Against. Thanks Barbs for sharing Nanook to the rest of the world! They surely gained another follower here for singing in its own language
I've wanted to go to Greenland for 10 years, finally got the chance to go a few months ago. It was absolutely amazing and an experience of a lifetime. Nanook's music was so fitting with the scenery. Solo hiking on the trails of Ilulissat while listening to Nanooks Ilissinnut is a memory I will never forget. Glad you guys got to hang out in Greenland together, an absolutely breathtaking place to be!

Alien Weaponry does something similar too. They’re a New Zealand metal band with songs in the native Maori language and they’ve toured around the world! A shame Keith didn’t get to talk about it in the New Zealand episode

In 1994 I watched a free concert of Canadian First Nations music on the front lawn of the legislature in Victoria BC. The second to last act was Kashtin from northern Quebec who sang in their native Innu. They were followed by Susan Aglukark from Nunavut who sang some songs in English but also some in Innuit. Despite the similarity in language names they are not related.
LOVE NANOOK! I listen to them every day on my way to work, but Its crazy that I can’t speak Greenlandic and the music just bridges language and it’s so cool! 🇬🇱
If it’s safe to travel and open, Bulgaria really is a beautiful place, any time of year (we were there in May around the time all the roses bloom, and again right before Christmas when everything was covered in snow and it barely broke 2 degrees C during the day.)

my man, if you ever want to go back here then i suggest south greenland in the summer, either Narsaq, Qaqortoq or Nanortalik (these are the main cities of the south) of the 3, i recommend Qaqortoq also because it is my hometown xD greenlandic people are VERY proud of what town they were born in, its very common to have some of your friends go to Narsaq from Qaqortoq or from Nanortalik to Narsarsuaq for just a few days and back because they want to be home.

You make the best videos about Greeland, hands down. Most influencers just gawk how "exotic" Greenland is, while considering the people background noise, except saying that their language is very weird. You show actual Greenland, Kalaallit Nunaat, and the people.
not understanding the words makes absolutely no impact on loving the music. one of my favourite spotify playlists is full of songs I don’t understand - mongolian metal, punjabi hip-hop, cambodian pop, norwegian pagan folk, tuareg desert rock, gaelic folk, 70s zam-rock, aussie indigenous etc. - and now I shall add Nanook to the list - thank you for the intro. all that counts is whether the music moves you and you enjoy it.
Nanook sound great!! Never been to Greenland but I did manage to see a bit of Greenland when I flew from my home in the UK to Toronto, Canada. The captain of the aeroplane pointed it out cos you can’t see it normally he said🤷🏼♂️🤘
I just visited Greenland. I am Inuit from Alaska. My lnupiaq language is very similiar to theirs and they could understand me. My language is more similar to theirs than Inuktitut in Canada which I found fascinating because of how far away they are!
