Maybe, but you probably had sharks nearby when you are swimming as a kid and just didn't know it. I grew up swimming off the coast of california. I spent Summers with my dad in Santa Barbara, where I went swimming and Boogie boarding every day. Ever since watching the Malibu artist I realized we must have been in the water with them all the time - we just couldn't see them. We (mostly) aren't on the menu. If we were, there'll be far more attacks than there are, and nobody would ever dare go in the ocean.
@mommy2libras
@mommy2libras 13 дней назад
It's more that with the advent of the internet, instant communication and the fact that we feel the need to report on everything that happens and news has to be updated every 5 minutes to stay competitive that you hear about more shark incidents than in the past. The sharks have always been there, even in water shallow enough where people are swimming. But you didn't used to hear anything other than local news, unless maybe someone got torn apart by a shark completely. And what national news you'd get on TV at 6 pm or the radio didn't bother itself with individual tragedies for the most part. Same with people believing kidnapping is suddenly more prevalent "these days". It isn't, you just didn't hear about things happening in Omaha, NE or Gulfport, MS if you lived in Virginia or Ohio or something. Now it all spreads further faster because we're all always online and seeing what happens everywhere.

On the Discovery channel you learn about sharks 🦈. They have talked about sharks are moving closer to shore where small fish are swimming. She acted surprised to see a shark when it had come upon a seal. The ocean is the shark’s home and they have been known to eat seals, turtle’s, small fish and other animals. I have been to Florida and there are sharks in Florida as well as California where I used to live.
