Naomi Watts salutes her longtime friend Nicole Kidman, recipient of the 49th AFI Life Achievement Award - America's highest honor for a career in film - on April 27, 2024 at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood.
THE 49th AFI LIFE ACHIEVEMENT AWARD: A TRIBUTE TO NICOLE KIDMAN premieres on TNT on Monday, June 17 at 10:00 p.m. ET/PT. The show, which celebrates Kidman’s career in film and television, features tributes from co-stars and friends Cate Blanchett, Russell Crowe, Zac Efron, Jimmy Fallon, Morgan Freeman, Hugh Jackman, Joey King, Mike Myers, Zoe Saldaña, Aaron Sorkin, Meryl Streep, Miles Teller, Keith Urban, Naomi Watts and Reese Witherspoon. The show will re-air on TCM on Thursday, June 27 at 8:00 p.m. and 11:30 p.m. ET / 5:00 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. PT.

Naomi Watts is the shyer, more introverted version of Nicole Kidman and frankly the actress with more depth and range. Lovely friendship but shows you the pushy person always gets the roles and the flowers in Hollywood rather than the humble person.

@@andresbecerra1183 Actually I am from Australia, I know Cate Blanchett and her husband personally I have been to their home and I have worked with many actors and directors in the Australian and American film industry, I know Hugh Jackman and Simon Baker and his ex wife - they were all the same vintage as these two women...and the understanding and subtext of this speech is that NW was in her (NK's) shadow...'the comment about waiting for ten years for a break' while NK was working (married to TC in order to get famous btw) is all a nod to the history of that cohort of actors. No worries if you didn't pick up on it, but thats the truth of it. Thats why Cate Blanchett and Hugh Jackman didn't make the trip in person and the 'bit' they agreed to was a tongue in cheek satire about the deservedness of Nicole and also a reference to the Australian Film I (which is considered less prestigious than the American FI but is ) where they all started. WE may have watched the same video but when people have different levels of consciousness and different biases they see different things. If you didn't think that she made a comparison thats fine... but I know she WAS making a comparison and even for an objective observer who is not familiar with any of the backstory of politics of corporate media she WAS clearly saying Nicole was famous a long long time before she was. You cannot gaslight me, I am solid in my mind and my self esteem is solid.I know how these things work. Cheers.
