To me it is the most underrated master piece of a movie ever. Maybe it’s because I knew someone like him. And even though it’s not really the 70s it has the late 70s flavor which was the best time in American history to be alive
i feel like part of what makes this film brilliant is how ambiguous the time period is. lafawnduh gives napoleon a mixed tape with 1999 "canned heat" to play on his walkman cassette player. it really incapsulates the pace of rural america. the film is simultaneously funny, boring, depressing, safe, and weird.

How did such a random, low budget indie film achieve sooo many memorable lines? I was quoting half of this movie all through middle school. Amazing writing and acting.
The exec who greenlit this was a genius. Hell yeah. If I would have written this I'd have been like "there's NO FUCKIN WAY anybody gonna buy this. Good job to all involved. God bless you all. Lmao
High school cafeteria food was still decent up until the early/mid-2000s in most areas of the states, and tots were king. I think the decline really started with 9/11.
I never understood this movie. I always wanted to. Everyone at my school quoted it all the time and laughed hysterically, I could never understand this type of humor 🤷🏻♂️
