This is just the end of the longer Old Guard video. While I think the full video is better, putting them in their full context, I know an hour is a bit much for a lot of people, and a lot of people will just want the Waterloo bit!
So enjoy, and stay tuned for another video this week!

Napoleons tactical movements are still taught in military academies throught out the world to this very day

Quite right! Infact some of the tactical principles learned from street fighting at lingy and placemoit lay the foundation for common infantry tactics now days.

The old guard also saw some action on the outskirts of Paris 15 days after Waterloo. Seldom talked about are the battles after Waterloo, such as la suffel where french general Rapp beat Austrian 3 Corps while out numbered 2:1. With 3000 french and 2150 Austrian casualties. General vandamme, as well as Marshall’s grouchy and Davout were extremely eager for revenge after Waterloo, wanting to fight the Prussians, there were a few battles along the Rhine and in France, with units of the guard defending paris commanded by davout. On 3rd July, general Remi exelmans at the head of french dragoon’s fired the last shots of the Napoleonic wars…

It’s a crime this isn’t mainstream knowledge, majority of people believe the guard were broken by a few surprise volleys from the British, I was not aware they literally routed 2-3 British companies as well as Dutch artillery, before being driven off. Thank you! The defeat at Waterloo is portrayed as a single British surprise to the old guard, whereas it’s more a tale of throwing everything they had at them and only stopping them at the last minute….

Battle of La Suffel would be an interesting one to cover - fought ten days after Waterloo. General Rapp vs Crown Prince of Wurrtemberg

For the 100 Days you can’t go past the Perry’s for Old Guard. Commanders wise they also have the following: Imperial Guard Commanders mounted (General de Division Michel, killed leading the attack of the Chasseurs a Pied at Waterloo, Marechal de camp Cambronne, commander 1st Chasseurs de Pied, Marechal de camp Baron Christiani, commander 2nd Grenadiers a Pied).

The Old Guard were fighting off the Prussians. It was the Middle Guard that went up against the British.

@@NapoleonicWargaming I may have a video of the guard advancing if you want it. I was there with the 1st Royal Scots from Canada. We helped defend the Hougemont on the first day with the Coldstream Guard. On the second day our brigade was in the centre and were right in front of the imperial guard advancing and sent them packing.

Minifigs were 15mm usually, though they did also make 25mm. Not sure if they are still available as several sites that used to sell them have websites that are not working at present.

Aha Minifigs. Now they did the full band of the 1e Gren (La Musique de la Garde) they were £25 back in the 80s and were traditional 25mm as opposed to modern heroic 28mm. They had rather funny little heads, they look like a column of cabbages! Their 15mm were better sculpts but pretty sure no band in that scale. I believe you can still get them, although.....have a look at the Perry Twins Travel Battle.

The "Old Guard" , very romantic. The "immortals", truly inspiring title. At the moment of their greatest destiny they ran away from the thin red line. A frog can only be a prince in fairy tales.
