I worked at a venue in in 2001-2003 and met Davey Havok, Actually Played a few games of Tekken with him, and hung out for a few mins,.One of the nicest and most down to earth "rock stars", I have ever met.
I know right!! I really enjoy when Nardwuar interviews AFI; it seems to be a very pleasurable experience for everyone involved, viewers included. Though I find it odd that it's always Davey and Jade, never Hunter or Adam.
They seem much more... Happy with Nardwuar in this interview than the last one. The one back from the STS tour, they seemed soooo pissed off at him. xD
AFI is a really cool band. As much as I don't like their recent work, they have an extensive history and have made some really good music in their time as a band.
@sonik-boom, please elaborate how loving a band's new material AND their old material, and being part of a younger crowd (when that cannot be helped) means you "must be a poser" ?
Sounds like sonik boom's suffering from poser-pose. Thats where he's actually the poser, and to try and seem like he fits in, he calls someone out who's not being a poser. If you like what u like, then no one can judge you. Just let the idiots make themselves look stupid.
omfg all of narduars interviews are always so standovish and its funny to watch. if you watch his inteview with Panic! at the Disco its sooooooo funny.theyre all like wtf?! xD
@QmegaNC Was that last bit referring to this interview or Nardwuar interviews in general? Because Nardwuar generally has way more music knowledge than the bands he interviews, but in this one, AFI is going toe-to-toe with him on all of these subjects and even besting him on a few. Which I'm sure he enjoyed cause he likes giving good interviews and learning new things.
Ha ha deadly interview, I love these guys, and no offense, but you guys gotta get over this whole "Davey is gay" thing. Even if he IS gay (which is entirely possible) he it still awesome.
hahaha. thats awesome. AFI must like Nardwuar, since they keep doing interviews with him =P and holy f### Davey and Jade know alot about other bands =P
holy s*** narwaur really researches his stuff. i was following almost everything untill they started talking about "the steps"... "sweet baby > sweet children > dead baby" lmao.
Nardwuar knew, before the interview, that they were recently talking about Gilman Street and the banana girl. I mean, out of all the stories from Gilman to bring up, he mentions the one they were talking about a few days prior. Nardwuar always does his research. :)
The funniest part is when Davey starts talking about the Headmaster of the frat being gay...That was too funny, although niether Jade, nor Narduwar thot it to be as funny as Davey did...I kno he's not gay, but he seemed to be the only one interested in that fact. + i wanna kno, how did he kno this? Did he "walk in" one time, cuz if he did, Davey I'm sorry.
You can really tell that they were signed by a label alongside Green Day, because they sound a lot like them judging by those clips. I didn't listen to anything beyond Sing the Sorrow. Which I just listened to again and loved just like I did 12 years ago...
well if you look at some of the other comments apparently i am speacking for alot of other people to and emo aint real music its a way for people to feel sorry for themselves and afi WAS good at music now they changed for publicity if they kept there old sound and got big id give them props but dont change who you are for sales because then your just a sell out and dont trully feel what you play and that makes you a fake
@@bigpurpleflower2185 the fanbase killed rock then. The stupid fanbase following everything that MTV told them to follow in which they did. I feel like I witnessed it with my own eyes. In 1997 the kids who wore nirvana shirts, by 98 were now sporting silver chains and trying to imitate black culture because all of a sudden it was cool thanks to MTV. I think MTV has alot to do with the death of rock n roll. Emo was such a stupid label to what we used to call indie rock in the 90's. Bands like Sunny Day Real Estate was the pioneers of that sound and then came the posers in the 2000's with that same sound and calling it emo as a way to emasculate the genre for a bunch of young pussies to call that music their own while they cut themselves and go out shopping at the mall like mallrats looking for the tightest small black shirts to wear at Hot Topic. Rock died when the pussy boys took over.
@@charlestonrezz5188 Nah, it's people like you. If you can't see the real issue here, you never will, and I pity you. I pity you, blind man. I pity you.
megadeth4ever8000 - That's an idiotic statement man. I mean, I agree that if you don't play what you feel and are only attempting to sell, that makes you fake. But that doesn't describe AFI in any way. First, "emo" is not a legitimate genre. That's a label that only immature people use. DU-era AFI is influenced by many old pop/new wave influences. The word "emo" has nothing to do with it at all. Grow up man, not every band that becomes more mainstream friendly is automatically selling out.
Know one really cares about what you think is real music and what is Emo, just leave those comment to your self if people enjoy AFI let them be. Myself I love AFI's old music and new music I believe that they are incredible producer of music so go and find something to do instead of writing your pathetic little comment thank you for you time.
Jerry Knuckles naw man I think that in the end they’re still a good band even to this day,and I think they knew people were gonna say that about the shades that’s probably why he wore them
