@@powercakes It's genuinely incredible. I know nothing about playing music or music equipment but watched an entire half hour video of Julien just breaking down the gear she uses lol.
I think this is genuinely the happiest that I have seen nardwuar in one of these interviews. I loved how both receptive and genuine the boys were to the questions and how genuinely excited they seemed to be there
Nardwuar is a treasure 😭 the way he chooses his gifts is so special. I feel like I learn a lot from him, the way he considers the people he's interviewing
I remember seeing Lucy open for Car Seat Headrest at a small club in Detroit in 2016. You could feel the moment of discovery for the entire crowd hearing her for the first time.
Funny you say that because they actually did recreate Nirvana's Rolling Stone cover magazine on Rolling Stone! There's a clip of it on RS' official RU-vid channel
@@arnoudh6203In that's so raven the main character will have visions of something that's going to happen in the near future, so when she says she has a that's so raven moment but seeing into the past that's just remembering a memory
When I was a teenager I'd look forward to nardwuars interviews with rappers I loved, And now I'm in my late 20s excited as fuck that he is interviewing boygenius, Boy how times have changed
Honestly, @amandapasler5941, it was only a handful of carefully sequenced MP3 CDs. Maybe 400 tracks altogether. But no doubt it *seemed* like 4,000 tracks! Anyway, I wish I could actually take credit for more than introducing Phoebe to the original Ednaswap version(s) of "Torn."
Absolutely best line: the gates are locked, but not really locked. You just have to jiggle the gate. I really wish more people understood this. PS: Saw Phoebe cry very publicly on stage, with good reason. They're rock stars but they're also 100% authentic real human beings.
dude, juliens “wait no” killed me every time she said it haha loved this interview! I’ve been waiting so long for this! also seeing him record them at the show felt like such a full circle moment, one of my all time favourite shows and now interview! 🖤 the boys are fucking incredible.
Favourite moments: 16:49 Steve-O in Whole Foods 20:26 "thank you Coldplay" 23:55 JB sings Shania Twain 28:49 pretending to be your own manager 29:54 alligator vs crocodile
Thank you god I found this vid because I suddenly felt the intense need to hear the man I feel like a woman boygenius moment and you've saved me from scrolling through the whole thing
Super fun interview. This was the first time I had seen all of them be interviewed and I have to say that Julien is absolutely adorable. I love how much they all clearly care about each other.
@@willenhall12345 Ye. Being extremely happy for a group comes off as if you rode that journey with them from the very bottom and struggles. When really you just joined at the peak of the party and went "yeah, this is cool. I'm reveling in this"
this interview was so sweet and wholesome, it made me so happy. i love the boys and nardwuar so much! it's always nice to see the artists excited to be interviewed by him
THE INTERVIEW I'VE BEEN WAITING FOR! Actually pumped my fist when I saw this in my notifications. EDIT: Already knew this would be good when they were the first act I saw REALLY get freaked out about the special pedal. That was delightful. Like how even when Nard pointed out it's difficult to use, the three were immediately coming up with workarounds cuz they want to use it so badly. EDIT 2: Knowing that Phoebe Bridgers also loves "I Wish I Was the Moon," a song that's helped me get through rough times and I don't see get brought up enough, also makes me happy. This interview's exactly as great as I hoped it'd be.
This interview made me so happy and was a blast to watch! Will watch it again for sure. Thank you Nardwuar and the boys for such a lovely interview, 34 minutes flew by! I wish it was longer, I could watch them speak for hours. Lots of love from Brazil 🥰
cause i am more of a (old school) hiphop fan i have never heard of boygenius...but they seem great , maybe i ll check out their music. that is also the greatness of nardwuar: the audience of rap fans gets to know artists from other genres (rock, metal, punk etc.) and vice versa
It is so unique and wild how much He knows about artists of all genres. In the same interviews He will give someone a punk, acid jazz, and 70s hip hop albums haha Dude is wild with the background knowledge
I’ve been a fan of L7 since I was a kid because of my older sister and dad (my dad had a tattoo) so it feels so full circle hearing phoebe (my favourite current artist) talk about them. L7 are absolutely incredible and they still tour and absolutely kill. Very excited to see BG this summer ❤
