Tbf, nardwuar in 1999 was way less annoying and much more researched than nardwuar in 1991. The early 90s interviews were full of gossip and accidental false information.
cool to see carrie. i thought nardwuar would've mentioned "excuse seventeen". that was her band before sleater-kinney. my band was lucky to play with them in them early 90's. there were prolly only about 20 people at the show.
*Time Machine enters my room* "You can go anywhere in time and space" "Sleater-kinney show, wayy back in those 90s" "Really? You don't wanna meet Jesus or the Buddha?" "No. I wanna see Sleater-kinney."
Saw Carrie Brownstein at 924 Gilman Street during The Evaporators Show back in the early to mid 2000’s. Interviewed Nardwuar that night!!! xoxo The Clarences
haha "no one can mosh my grandmother" wow....The Hot Rock back in the day when they not only had a new album out but, had a few coming...o my god how i wish i could go back in time:'-(
wow just tripped out a bit over those alternate lyrics to I Wanna Be Your Joey Ramone (think i spelled it wrong)!! That's cool, those lyrics were funny too:-)
Is it just me or is the live footage recording starting around 1:20 like an EXCEPTIONAL live mix for S-K??? It’s so hard to find good soundboard mixes from this era
There's a fantastic, professionally recorded gig taped at the RCKCNDY in Seattle from early 1999 floating around. That's the only one you need... keep an eye out for it
@@cftvdata dude big thanks for mentioning this!!! Hot Rock songs are rarely played as-is, it’s so cool hearing these songs live with such a good mix 🤘🏻
@@jordandrinkwine74 No worries, man. I first got my hands on that recording in 2010 or so, and couldn't believe how good the quality was. Every fan of the band deserves to hear it. Still hoping someone will sync it up with the single-cam video source that's out there, as the fidelity of the video recording leaves a **lot** to be desired.
@@cftvdata lol I thought that video WAS the bootleg you were talking about. Good news though- someone uploaded a version synced up with the soundboard audio and it has less views than the original footage! The difference is night and day, still trying to get my hands on a lossless version tho
My Grandmother's last name is "Mosh". They named the "mosh pit" after her because back in the 50's she was a pioneer in agressive stagefront dancing. Go Granny Mosh! and RIP
+nicole barron I can't tell if it was deliberate because parlay isn't really the right word either. It means strategically improve. It should be like "do you have any anecdotes you'd like to impart".
Eh, Nardwuar is legendary in his home country and has a cult following. When the alternative is phony MTV types, NI don't see how Nardwuar isn't better. It's more interesting to see artists you like react to this guy. Some artists like him, some interviews are hilarious.
So he's a knowledgeable bad performer. He should write for music publications if he can't perform on camera without annoying the crap out of people. One disclaimer though: Even Carrie Brownstein herself says "Slay-ter Kinney" (4:15) at one point. So it's not entirely the guy's fault for mispronouncing the name.
