Tired of regretting not seeing The Dum Dum Girls for any of their repeated visits over the years to The Biltmore, located right in my 'hood, I saw them Apr. 4, 2014. No more regrets. (I've upped video of the whole show to yt.) Dee Dee's a talented singer & songwriter, has become a quite captivating performer. She's charming in this interview. Since I seem to have special appreciation for beauty of mouths & lips, let me say Dee & Dee, & Mazzy Star's Hope Sandoval, two of my fave singers, perhaps have the two most beautiful mouths (& faces) among performers I like.
Sweet I have that record. One of his better albums when it comes to actual songs and nice production too. So glad I never sold or traded that piece of vinyl over the years. That and my Mentors record Up the dose are two of my more rare albums in my punk collection.
was trying to make out who was on the cover of the album shes holding in the thumbnail and i thought it was someone else. shoulda figured it was gg allen, who doesnt like gg allen
It's only been 20 or so more years since I last listened to Nardwuar. Wow, that's a long time to carry this schtick. Good lord... He needs to drink more water.. Regardless, Yay citr.
I met Ms. Kristen Gundred (I don't know if it's Kindred or Gundred... owell) when she was doing GOP. I liked her then and I like her stuff now. There were more songs I liked from the other band but I'll keep watching out for her stuff just because she was cool when I met her. She's nice.
Dum Dum Girls write some songs so like Mazzy Star as to be shamelessly derivative, but still sound great! E.g. "Coming Down".Anyone familiar with Mazzy will know it's based directly on Mazzy's biggest hit "Fade Into You".I see DDGs also follow Mazzy's singer Hope Sandoval in choice of covers.Hope's always been a big fan of early Stones.Hope did "Play With Fire" as a regular feature of her 2002 tour, just as DDG's do now! I live 80 yards from The Biltmore, but, sadly, missed the DDGs show. %&%#.
"I know you're a big fan of ABBA so I brought a gift for you... a promotional single of Dancing Queen! What can you tell the people of Vancouver about ABBA?" "Who fuckin told you I was an ABBA fan, they're wrong, they're fuckin dead, get this shit off me, I don't want your fuckin record." "Thank you, GG. Keep on rocking in the free world, and doot doola doot doo..." "Go fuck yourself before I take that microphone and stick it up your ass."
