Sunday morning thinking about going over the hill to warrens hall, and cycling with the kids to Hawne basin, now maybe ill cycle them to Brum then back to warrens hall.. All because off your video. cheers for a relaxing route plan.
A very meaured and informative trip into B'rum. A lesson for those who think Birmingham canals are dirty and unkempt - they're not! Juswatched this video two years later (August 2023, this time more leisurely - remembering the bits that I had previously skipped through. One of the most informmative trips I've seen. Most folks rush through the mainline / and the loops, but - if a visitor - plder a while and soak in ths small bit of the Midlands!
Thanks for sharing. Was surprised there's no locks between Halesowen and Birmingham. If you'd have taken the Brierley Hill direction you would had quite some heavy lifting.
Always wanted to go through the tunnel from hawne basin to old hill. Walked the canal last week whilst on a walk photographing areas that hosted railways.
I know _exactly_ where that air shaft comes up. I pass it every time I go to Sainsbury’s. My husband told me what it was when I asked “why is that garden full of an engineering brick turret?
magnificent engineering, the tunnels are breathtaking an asset for the metro birmingham area.....do canal lovers volunteer to pick up all these plastic bottles and the disgusting discarded fast food packaging which harm nature and people´s minds?
