I have crazy oily skin and I absolutely love this Foundation! However it took a look learning curve. I actually had to use the powder before foundation method. I don't care what Foundation I use I get oily and I get oily really quickly so blotting is an absolute must for me regardless of the foundation I use. I did use the Too Faced Sweet Peach primer. I don't know it did anything or not but I still use it. I have about three different primers I'll use and I honestly don't think they do anything but yet I still use them. But with the powder before the foundation method and I do lightly powder over it it seems to stay on beautifully throughout the day. I will agree it's not transfer resistant as clamed. Using powder before hand helps with that as well. I'm glad to see your review.Once I saw it posted I had to watch it.
Love the collaboration, thanks for this! Sounds like it would be perfect for normal skin or slightly dry or slightly oily. I’m a dry skinned girl, not sure about this one after seeing Goldgirl’s review. Love the two faced natural eyes palette on you! Would love a tutorial on your eye look. It’s my favorite warm weather palette! 😍
I am 47 with combination skin with a very oily t zone. I like this foundation. I apply a small amount with my fingers. It has good coverage and a lovely finish. I have to blot throughout the day but no more than I have to with any other foundation. I found it lasted much longer than most other foundations. It’s so weird how even though we have similar skin types it works so differently. Thanks for a great review. X
Lol @ the “this is not cute”! That was me with the new Marc Jacobs Shameless foundation. I was a greasy mess! This was a well done review as always and how great that you had the opportunity to collab with Marnie! #over40youtubersclub 😊😘
I do think it is suited well for normal to dry skin. I am pretty normal, leaning towards dry, and it works really well so far, but I'm still in the testing phase. Even though you and I have basically opposite skin types, I still love watching your foundation videos! Well, of course I love all of your videos! Keep up the good work!😙😙
I’m with you on this one, Stephanie. I was so disappointed, because it looks absolutely beautiful and Nars is one of the few foundations who get the yellow undertones right. It just didn’t stay on at all. My nose and chin were bare by the end of the day whereas Sheer Glow is still on after being applied at 6a this morning. I used the One Heck of a Blot primer and it performed the best with that, but still not great. Awesome review!
I LOVE this foundation but my skin isn’t as oily as yours. It truly is so beautiful (I’m 50) and so glad Marnie shared her results! I normally wear the same shade as you but in this foundation I wear the shade Punjab not Fiji. Thought that was interesting!
I watch NikkiaJoy also and she had the same issues with it. I'm a new subscriber to your channel and I'm really glad I found you because you have the exact same skin type that I do. Your videos are really helpful!
Thank you for the review. My skin is like yours so I know I wouldn't like this either. I've never had good luck with Nars foundations because they tend to lean yellow and I need pink tones in my foundations. I've had the most luck with Dior foundations with color matching and a nice finish on my oily/aging skin. Fun colab showing how it behaves with different skin!
I watched your review first and just finished Marnie’s review. You both had very detailed & honest reviews, as you always do. I’m on the fence after seeing and hearing both of your differing opinions. I’m more normal to dry but still not sold on this, especially after reading several of the comments. Hopefully I can get a sample size to try! 😉 Great review ladies!
Love the collaboration. So cool to hear about the same product from different skin types. Must say that even though you both live in the southern climates, which is great for the comparison, after living in New Orleans for 5 years I would say you're in your own world. I adore it there and visit often but unless it's the short winter no climate compares. I can't begin to imagine what you must go through to keep your products from slipping!
Wow!! Such a great thorough review Stephanie!! Can’t wait to see what Marnie thought , such a bummer when a beautiful foundation doesn’t stay beautiful all day ☹️
I recently got a sample of this. Yes, it looks great at first. By halfway thru the day it was disgusting! Creasing in every line and felt thick and heavy. I wanted it to work but it was bad for me. I threw the rest away! Oh, and I have dry, mature skin.
I am so wary of anything that says radiant. I can pretty much guarantee that by two hours of wear it will be super shiny and wearing off. FYI, I'm 56 with combination skin. Thanks for trying this one out.
From one oily skin girl to another, excellent review. I have tried to make lots of foundations work with the oil. I find kat von d's blotting powder works well for me. Great for touch ups. I actually use that before applying mineral powders and it has helped my oiliness.
Stephanie, once again quality content. I appreciate your thoughtful and thorough reviews on foundations. I will check out Marnie's video next. Side note: you look amazing and I love your hair color! 🌺💗
I have combo skin as well, and I’m in my early 30’s. I tried this just like you because I loved the claims. It did the SAME thing to me on my chin. Four days in a row that I tried it. It separated and looked horrible. Other oily areas it wasn’t great but ok. But my chin just made it impossible to keep. Thanks for sharing your thoughts! ❤️
There is no fondation thag doesn't separate on my chin no metter what. I don't know why, I might be touching the chin to much. No clue, but it's not just nars but most of them.
Hi! I'm from Marnie's channel. Nice collab idea. Enjoyed the video though I felt bad that it didn't work well for you. I have dry skin so I am hoping it works well for me. Would love to see more collabs with Marnie. Thank you Stephanie❣
Sounds like a no for me. I’m not super oily, but I hate when a foundation disappears with just a few hours of wear. I’m heading over to Marnie’s channel, now. Hopefully, you’ll have pointed me to a new favorite RU-vidr. 💕
Stephanie, thanks to you I saved so much time and energy... and money! I am forever grateful to you for this meticulous list of matches to NC 25. The only time I didn’t watch the RU-vid review (just verified the match) I ended up buying NARS radiant foundation, because it felt so good on my skin when tried in store. Imagine my disappointment when I was wearing it on a hot Saturday day, sitting in the restaurant with husband and after just checking my face in the car mirror - it was a disaster! I rushed to see your video - and voila there it was, everything I didn’t like about this $50 ‘gem’ LOL sure enough I returned it.
OMG! I always say that I can't guarantee what works (or doesn't work) for me will be the same for anyone else, but wow!! Thank you Nadya!! I'm so glad to be able to help you!😘
So glad you did this review! I have been seeing this foundation and was considering trying it bc I have been looking for a light weight foundation. I have oily skin and there’s no way this foundation would have worked for me!
GENIUS collab idea! Looks like I’ll be skipping this one...you had to jump through too many hoops to make it “work”! I have combo/oily skin as well...so fun treating wrinkles and breakouts at the same time...😂😂😂
Hi Stephanie. Great video! I love Marnie and after seeing her video I thought I might like that Nars foundation but like you, I have oilier skin. I can’t really tolerate much oil in my foundation at all or I look like an oil slick! Unfortunately, I think I may pass on the Nars. . It sounds like too much work to make it work! 💝💝💝💝💝💝💝💝💝💝💝💝
Hi Sandra! I’m actually working on narrowing that down right now. Just when I think I have it, I waiver! There’s also different types for different occasions, etc. It’s so hard! 😆 Stay tuned! 😘
I had the EXACT same experience with this foundation! I have oily combination skin with dry patches (so blessed) and it got so oily, slid off face, and showed texture. I also had a problem finding the right undertone with this foundation--so many true yellow undertones--not olive, yellow. I have medium/neutral/olive skintone and I always have problems finding the right undertone, but this in particular was bad--and I tried like 4 shades. I guess since I couldn't find my right shade I'm actually glad I didn't like the formula itself.
Oh I have used the all day luminous by NARS...and that one transfers everywhere, all the time! Didn’t like it at all....I can totally understand how this one transfers....! NARS Sheer Glow is their BEST foundation!
I had the exact experience as you with this NARS foundation - so shiny oily so quickly! Right applying it, it looked so beautiful though. So sad. Will you consider reviewing the new Bobbi Brown foundation? I ended up getting that one, after trying the NARS for a week. I have been using the Bobbi Brown one for last few days but it hasn’t performed as well as it was when I tried in store... not sure why. Love to hear your thoughts as we shared the same opinion about the NARS foundation. Thank you.
Can you review the new Becca Aqua Luminous setting powder? It seems crazy but I wondered if it would be great for mature skin? like maybe the water would keep it from caking in lines?
You have always been so sweet and down to earth...love the Pottery Barn jewelry box..I have one too!!! Is that the Pagoda case by Ballard in the background to?? You are gorgeous!! xx
This is the foundation I wear if I go somewhere after class or whatever. I can come home take a quick shower and slap this on super quick because of how easily it applies, and it will look good for a few hours. Great if we decide to go grab dinner or something. Other than that I stick to my EL Double Wear, Laura Geller Balance n Brighten powder and the It Cosmetics BB. I’m also oily/combo. I’m curious to mix this half and half with my DW to see what it does
I have tried it, I am oily also. I used Benifts primer, and RCMA powder with my BB. That's it. Once I was done with my whole face and ready to leave the house everything was perfect. The only thing I had to touch up for 8 hours was my lipstick. Maybe try it with a different primer first or different powder. You will find your perfect way to wear it. Trial and error..
Hi! I tried it for a week with different primers and powders and setting sprays. After all that work, I’m moving on! 😜 Everyone’s skin is so different with foundations...I’ve seen some have it work beautifully while it doesn’t for others. I think Madison Miller has nice results while myself and Nikia Joy, not so much! I’m glad it works for you! 😘👍🏼
Marnie is a dear friend. Most of the foundation she tries do not work on me. No no no. I am oily combo. Now Marc Jacobs’s has a new one out to. Works well for us oily ladies. But hey. Just means we will not age/wrinkle as fast. “ supposedly” lol
I have yet to find the perfect everyday long wear yet somewhat natural foundation for my oily skin. I like tarte Amazonian clay, it cosmetics cc cream, UD all nighter and TF peach perfect foundation. But none are my holy grails as of yet.
I have combo skin. I've found that using a silicone based or moisturizing primer does not work as well with this foundation. I ended up getting the Nars primer (because I love this foundation) and they work beautifully together. I always have to set my t-zone a little more, but that is with any natural finish foundation.
Love foundation road tests! I don’t think this foundation is for me and my oily skin...just too many other options out there that do work well for me and don’t require a ton of other products thrown in. Thank you for the great review!
I haven't done that quite yet, aside from the video where I did my top high end foundations. I'm currently working on narrowing things down and putting things in order for you guys! 😘
I went and got a sample and I love this foundation I am also in the color Fiji. How funny me and you have the same color shade. I thought it was a little drying for my skin and I thought it was more of a satin finish but I guess it depends on how people prepare the skin too.
It definitely does, that’s why I do different things when testing on different days. It just didn’t work for my skin at all! I wish it did! I’m so glad it worked for you! Loved the shade! 😘
I had watched a review of this foundation by Nikkia Joy, who has oily skin, and she had issues with it coming off the chin, etc. as well, so I was afraid you would have the same experience. Thanks for sharing!
I got this when it first came out.. I wanted it to work but unfortunately had all same issues you did.. so far the only foundation I always come back to is the Estée Lauder double wear light..I have tired soo many new ones this year.. but have yet to find something I like as much as the Estée Lauder light
Hi just a random question I was in Sephora yesterday and wondered why nobody ever talks about their brushes? I was looking at them and thought they felt great. Opinions anyone?
Hi Angela. At 2:25 I said I was in the shade Fiji. Also in all my description boxes I have my foundation shade match list linked for you all. Thanks for watching!
I can't remember offhand...possibly Fiji? If I ever forget to say, or if you miss it in a video, you can always check the link of my foundation matches in my description boxes where my matches are listed. I provide it as a reference for you guys. 😘
Don’t take this the wrong way but you said you blotted and when I use to blot it takes off some of the foundation and that could be why you’re noticing it off. all I’m concerned with a foundation is that last at least eight hours or seven because I am ready to take it off at the end of the day. You also used the Charlotte Tillberry powder which is hydrating for people with dry skin because I have read on the Charlottesville website.
Hi! No offense taken! 😘 With oily/combo skin, blotting is a fact of life so we need a foundation that can take a light blotting and this one just isn’t it unfortunately. Different skin types have different needs. If we don’t blot, we end up grease slicks (which is horribly unattractive) or the foundation slides off the face from the oil gathering if we don’t blot. It’s a must you see? Also I only used the CT on the one day. I tested out the foundation for over a week using different primers (and without primer) and different powders, including mattifying powders...I talked about how I used mattifying powders and setting spray with it as well in the video. 😉😘
I have normal to oily skin. Definitely not trying this one! My holy grail foundations Armani Power Fabric, Osmosis Performance Wear. Drugstore like is True Match by LOreal
Sorry my English (not my lenguage) i just want to say that this is the worst foundation i have ever(really,in my whole life) try,im como/oily and it gets shiny in 1 hour, its creasing, have dots of found. in my pores, its caking and everything...its a desaster and such a waste of my money...why Nars, why???
