Fun fact: Obito voice actor is the same one that did his tobi persona. In the filler sanbi arc you actually can hear the switch From the playfull to psychotic voice for a brief moment.
It was in this episode that Kakashi finally understood what Naruto and Jiraiya felt when they found out that Sasuke and Orochimaru left and turned against the hidden leaf.
There were so many clues! Tobi’s name rearranged minus an “O”, one sharingan in the opposite side of Kakashi’s and his teleportation having the same art as Kakashi’s kamui
@@Haunt888 swiry zetsu can’t fuse with Obito, this ain’t DBZ lol. If you’re talking about when Swirly let Obito wear his body to help Rin and Kakashi, that’s not fusing, that’s like Obito wearing a suit or armor cus it covered his entire body including his head and it was temporary. Obito stopped wearing Swirly when he attack Konoha and hasn’t worn him since.
Naruto: “Kakashi-sensei, I don’t know what happened to you two in the past, but we can’t dwell on it now!” Me: “Naruto, you’ve been doing the same thing with Sasuke for the whole show pretty much lol”
the only problem with Kakashi was, that he was doing his inner flashback when his enemy wasn't giving any time compare to pain who wanna talk to you and where you can go back to certain flashback
"Tobi's" voice wasn't Obito's it was Madara's. I mean, no wonder you like Madara's voice better, but I feel like its a little unfair to compare anyone's voice to his.
I have a feeling that they’ll grow to love the English dub of adult Obito’s voice. When I first heard it, I was a little weirded out too, and I wasn’t sure if I liked it. As time went on, it really grew on me, and I love it way more than the Japanese voice. If the Normies don’t accept this voice by episodes 364 and 371, then they will definitely not like it throughout the rest of the series, because those two episodes are when adult Obito’s voice actor truly shines. Adult Obito’s voice is at its best when he’s pissed or compassionate.
the reason that ninja of Kakasi's age group ended up taking part in the last war was b/c it was the third in a series of great ninja wars with not a lot of times of peace in between each war so all the villages were just desperate for manpower and were forced to send younger shinobi into conflicts they may not have been ready for. I believe there is actually a moment where just before this war starts and everyone is preparing one of the elders brings up how there isn't really anyone left from Tsunade's generation b/c of all the losses they took from the last wars.
Yuupp, Chris hit the nail on the head. We can't forget most of the characters have been/effectively are child soldiers. Also loved seeing them react to the reveal.
The one thing I got spoiled for me on my first Naruto binge actually came from the "Always" scene from Harry Potter in the comment section. One of of the top comments was "Just like Itachi" and I immediately knew what that implied lol. Luckily this didn't get spoiled for me and blew my mind haha.
I just had a feeling Itachi was a good guy simply because so many ppl had him as their profile pic and called him their favourite character I knew he wasn't going to be a bland psycho
For real, but the reason why is cuz they literally are taking forever to watch these episodes. Every like 20 episodes probably takes like a couple months to do, that’s why they can never remember shit, they’ve been reacting to this show for the longest. They treat these reactions more like a business than for the fans like RTTV does, 2 episodes a week vs. 2 episodes every 3 days of the week. But just my opinion
@@pedrocastillo9951 I agree! I find it ridiculous that they were still watching this show. They could have been finished it, but they are dragging it out. Someone said it’s because this is there most views series so they’re milking it.
So the placement of Kakashi Gaiden that you guys watched was actually its placement in the manga, so arguably it *was* the intended time to see it. It's harder to do that sort of in-between-parts side story in an anime though, especially when the second part of the anime is technically a different series, so they had to shift its placement.
It wasn't a different series in Japan, it just got a new name one week to help advertise that they were back from their 20 month long filler spree. The refreshed name was a marketing stunt to get fans to start tuning back in.
Yea watching it in the beginning was a mistake I don’t get why anyone would I see the reasoning but thts if ur reading the manga bc obviously u are far more invested in the story than if ur watching it there is a reason why they changed it for the anime
Actually the positioning of kakashi gaiden in manga is intentional since if you analyze it it actually tells the whole plot of the next arcs by telling us when it started before actually showing what was behind even that
I'm so glad they didn't remember Kakashi Gaiden I was worried they would spoil themselves and I'm also glad they instantly figured out Tobi's name rearranged!!
Actually, kinda yeah - to most people,it was way too obvious,so they weren't surprised, but the normies somehow managed to not put together the clues - that's actually pretty impressive in a way lmao
@@bigboi4404 I mean, at the moment to this point in the manga, communities were really deep into theories, looking into hidden pieces of info anywhere that would lead to his identity. With Obito being officially dead, he was only a possibility that really spread through social media so most people was kind of expecting it.
@@RDR2isTheGreatestGameEver people who Patreon them, receives a VIP like link to watch this videos earlier before it gets public~ You know, like those videos with alternate videos that are only accessible by clicking from the video before~
Im so pissed that they ruined the Obito reveal with like 5 minutes of flashbacks explaining exactly who it was. They couldve shown the face first and then done a couple shorter flashbacks
@@krithiksingh Most people have average IQ. That's what being average means. They are just not invested in the show as you are. They might be killing it in their personal lives and might be making good money but still miss all the nuances and clues in the show. It's completely normal.
22:53 Sarutobi has the nickname "God of Shinobis" for a reason. Dont underestimate him just because you didnt see him in his prime in the anime, he was the first and second Hokages disciple.
We’ve also never seen Sarutobi at his prime, we’ve only see him as a kid and as an elderly man who was already retired but had to come back into being Hokage. He gets grossly underrated because of the fact he loses to Orochimaru when in reality he sacrificed himself to stop the first two reanimations on top of his arms.
It's not the intended order though. In the Manga Kakashi Gaiden comes between part one and two, the same spot in the story fans had you watch it. It's unclear why the anime moved it closer to the Tobi-is-no-who-he-says-he-is reveal. You'd think it was Toobi, but it's not. Also, back in the Tenchi Bridge we saw Yamato use a chakra technique to change his voice to match Sasori's. Also, Hashirama was being puppeted by Orochimaru when he fought Sarutobi, so he may not have been at his peak.
In Romaji, it is common to turn double vowels like in Toobi into long accented vowels like Tōbi. Then the accent gets dropped in America because accent marks are too hard. This is how Shippuuden became Shippūden and then just Shippuden.
@@rubychan2288 I was just expanding upon your Toobi point, not trying to correct you. Not everyone on the internet is out to tell you that you are wrong.
For everybody who complains about the reveal. the flashback is the reveal, the show tells you who tobi is with that flashback. If you still didnt knew who tobi was while watching the flashback the problem is you and not the show And chris, you guys wouldn't have known who tobi was right away even if you watched it in order. Because in his first reveal he says he is madara uchiha. Back then there was no reason for you to assume that he wasn't madara
I think it was kinda a lame reveal. You can put it together from the beginning of the flashback (if you hadn't already from the super heavy-handed clues) just because why else would they be having an Obito focused flashback. There was enough setup for them to just drop the mask and then do the flashbacks after if they really wanted to. Even then though, we already saw Kakashi Gaiden.
22:19 There are two points I'd make for why Hashirama wasn't super OP in the fight with Orochimaru and Sarutobi (Lord Third). Because I absolutely had the same thought Suraj! 1. The Third Hokage was simply a badass. It isn't often brought up, but he was incredibly strong in his own right. I mean, we got a how many episodes of him being stabbed through with a sword, and he was how old?! He also learnt all five chakra natures, and was considered one of the most powerful shinobi to have every lived. 2. Orochimaru was VERY careful with his reanimations. If you look back on that fight, he immediately overrides their personalities, and they pretty much explicitly follow his orders. It seems like dear old Orochi knew just how risky it was to bring back such powerful shinobi without careful control... 3. My man Chris is 100% correct, Kabito absolutely improved on the jutsu, by adding some of Hashirama's own power to it. I like to think chakra in the reanimation as an endless glass of water. The original reanimation only gave you the ability to have that glass constantly refill, but Kabito also made the glass larger as well. 4. There is another element that is spoilers, so my lips are sealed for now! I'll try and remember to fill that in as a comment later in the relevant episode. Chris, Navi, Rana, Suraj, Micky, and all the other wonderful people in the Normies, keep being awesome! I love watching your reactions to what is one of my favourite anime, you always make my day better! Love you all, take care and be safe!
One thing is certain. The next ending is a must to react, I think it will be safe to watch after the next big reveal. You'll know which one when it arrives. Ending 28 btw.
I remember way back in the day when this reveal was first made in the manga. Lots (and I meants LOTS) of people had already figured out that Tobi was Obito, but after Tobi started going by "Madara" those people got shit on. Then this reveal was made. The doubters were absolutely pissed, and the people that had already figured it out were absolutely euphoric lol
Many of those people were reading the japanese manga which was much easier to make the connection because of the names being the same 2 characters flipped. It was basically like Dracula and Alucard.
@@straightuphating1013 The point is that it is rather obvious that the names are a reference to each other which implies a connection of sorts. Seeing the Romiji names Tobi and Obito is harder to guess the connection via the names then it is with トビ and ビト
2:57 I mean since you guys already know by now but every Uchiha who awakened the Mangekyou has a different pattern in their Mangekyou Sharingan. But here both Tobi and Kakashi have the same pattern. So....
The only issue with saying Should we have watched it as the studio intended is that they are not the writers of the overall story. In this case at the time Kakashi Gaiden's relevance was not clear so there was no reason to animate it. Later once Kishi had given them more info both through the Manga and personal notes they made the decision to include it as part of the anime and placed it where they did. At almost the last point they could before Tobi was revealed as Madara. They simply couldn't go back and place it before as those episodes had already aired over a year prior to that. It was that or just ignoring it till the moments in this episode where they could have dropped the two episodes here, which might not have worked as well. I personally feel the 119/120 placement is to big of a hint cause of the surrounding info from episodes that happen right after. But that's just how I felt on my first watch as I had already read it and had come to terms with who I thought he was in the manga at the same time. For me it was early confirmation as other options stopped making sense. In any case its a great reveal as is.
if you’re really OG and saw all this unfold real-time, this was a case similar to 4th Hokage possibly being Naruto’s dad. Too painfully obvious at first for it to be real. From when Tobi revealed himself to be Madara to Pain and Konan until the war arc, 95% of even the most die hard Naruto fans never second guessed or thought he was lying especially after revealing he had controlled the Kagura and was responsible for the Nine Tails attack which were very “Madara” like actions. It wasn’t until the real Madara was reanimated that speculations of Tobi being Obito truly began to stir. Those who claim they’re geniuses are the same people who act like they knew Itachi was a good guy from the start without the speculation of the possibility since the Itachi x Naruto encounter when he shoved a crow down Naruto’s throat (sus)
Imagine Obito got clapped by a random ninja while masquerading as Madara early on. Dude would be like Kakazu and never shut up about fighting the 1st Hokage lmao
Kakazu probably never fought Hashirama imo. Kakazu would've been shit-stomped by him and it isn't even close. He was probably on the same battlefield as Hashirama, saw him, and nope-ed the fuck out of there. Then time passed and no one else was alive to call him out so he can freely say he in fact did fight Hashirama. That's my headcanon. Literally was the only Akatsuki to get jobbed by Naruto.
@@sagespaceghost2413 It’s kind of obvious what really happened lol. Kakazu has 5 hearts, basically 5 lives. Hashirama was probably not aware of that and after killing Kakazu once, he left. Kakazu didn’t reveal his ability and just played dead before coming back to life with one of his other hearts because he realized how outclassed he was.
It's not just Rin, it's all the suffering he's seen since joining with Madara. Remember, in this story it is perfectly mundane to train a child from 4 years up until the age of 8-12 and send them to war. Naruto's world is FUCKED!
Hashirama defeat and captured all the tailed beast by himself, he was that guy and the reanimations in the chinning exam were using random shinobi, the vessels weren't strong enough to carry his power, but zetsu can that's why madara is so strong
Really love you guys, i dont blame you for getting spoiled way before about this reveal. But man, how i hate the dishonesty of you guys lying about not getting spoiled.
To this day, I'm still so proud that I figured it was Obito since they revealed the "real" Madara in the manga. Everyone thought it was ridiculous. That transition is epic af
I have disagree on that point about the airing order affecting the surprise because any thoughts I had on Obito being Tobi were quickly 'jossed' when he called himself "Madara" and the theory of Obito being Tobi had lost credibility with me for a while and then when the Real Madara appeared, the uncertainty and that lost credibility also helped conceal his identity until the reveal
Been waiting for a few years to see this reaction. Also, remember when Yammato was able to mimic Sasori's voice perfectly? I always assumed Obito used the same technique to mimic Madara's.
People always say that Obito started the war because Rin died. No! Kakashi asked “If you were alive, why didn’t you come forward” as in “why didn’t you return to Konoha?”. Obito’s answer for why he didn’t return was because of Rin’s death, and Madara’s further influencing and persuasion on the Infinite Tsukuyomi is what made Obito stay with Madara and follow his plans.
Sarutobi is stated to be the strongest of all 5 Hokages back in his prime; this was stated back in part 1. In Danzo’s flashback during his fight with Sasuke, Hiruzen stated he was the strongest one there including Tobirama. so a teenage Sarutobi was already that powerful and his prime is around age 25 when he became the teacher of the Sannins.
I remember when I was watching the show, the moment the episode aired where they showed "Tobi's" sharingan right eye from the tiny hole in the old mask I immediately connected the dots and declared that Tobi was actually Obito (the name rearrangement helped). But my friend, who was a manga reader and was way farther ahead, was very adamant that Tobi could not be Obito in any way. Well, guess who's laughing now...
I remember literally seeing the name Tobi, seeing the hair style, seeing the mask specifically covering the left eye while also keeping the right hidden in shadow and also obviously hiding his face...it's a classic visual medium rule/trope that a character introduced with a mask is intentional not just to disguise them from the other characters but from the reader most of all. It was way too much of a coincidence even with Kishimoto throwing out red herring details like the left part of his mask getting blown up revealing another sharingan (and even then, the right side of his body looked distinctly fucked up but not his left...exactly like how Obito was crushed). But similarly, friend group and even discussion boards at the time called it debunked several times and bought full in to the Madara theories. Turns out Obito was less of an Uncle Ben, more of a Bucky Barnes.
Shippuden 102: Shinobis can change their voice using Chakra. That's what Yamato did when he turned into Sasori to meet Kabuto at the starting of the Shippuden. Remember?
I know how back in the day when the Manga came to this Chapter there were so much Theories about Who Tobi is. Some said it was Izuna Uchiha (Madaras Brother), some said Sasuke from the future. The Theories were wild ;D. But him beign Obito made so much sense and was a freaking awsome reveal. Also rember back at the Start of Shipuuden Kakashi teleported Deidaras Arms away with Kamui. And later Deidara got them back with the help of Tobi. This was only possible because Tobi (Obito) had the same eye as Kakashi. I wonderd how that worked but never questioned it too much. Also the Animation when Kakashi used Kamui and whenever Tobi used Kaumi it was the same Animation.
I hate how Shippuden put Kakashi Gaiden right before Sasuke vs. Deidara then Pain & Tobi ("Madara") reveal. To be clear (I'm sure Patreon has already told y'all), but y'all watched Kakashi Gaiden in it's normal sequence cause in the manga Kakashi Gaiden (like chapters 234-239 if I remember) happens immediately after end of part 1 and before the time skip. It also helps give more context to the White Fang, Kakashi going to Obito's tombstone a lot and introduces us to the 4th Hokage but less in passing much faster (also hints at him being Naruto's father). The way the anime showed it makes Obito reveal more obvious considering couple episodes later he runs into Kakashi to stop them from reaching Itachi & Sasuke
_They’re complaining about something so stupid. The voice we hear after the mask comes off is his real voice. His voice with the mask on was Madara’s. He was using Madara’s voice so the characters and we, the audience could think he was Madara._
It’s okay that you all had to fake the funk today. We all know you figured it out or got it spoiled, because by this point we all had figured it out or spoiled from the manga. I promise we won’t be mad next time if you all just behave genuinely.
I know I'm late to this party, but the Kakashi backstory is initially after the end of part 1 and before the beginning of Shippuden, whereas in the anime you don't get that arc until episode 100something of Shippuden so it's a little more obvious in the anime too.
Honestly, as a manga reader the Tobi = Obito theory came from the kakashi gaiden followed by the tobi has sharingan chapter shortly after. Thing is though many people thought the theory was garbage because why would Madura randomly use a 13 yr old clumsy ninja with half his body crushed? It just sounded so absurd that the theory was often shot down.
Out of all the reactors, you guys were probably the slowest. All the others ones figured out who it was once Kakashi realized that they're eyes had the same power. And there were so many clues. The name. The hair. Tobi's sense of humor. The sharingan.
😂 At 13:44 Navi was so shook that she says, “Damn straight nigga!”, but chokes it off at the end. Lol That’s all right Navi, that’s what we all said too back when this ep original aired. 😂
I like how they spend the first half of the episode being like "Did we see this? Do we know this character? Did this happen?" and then have the gall to say later during a flashback "WE SAW IT".
This was LITERALLY the episode I was waiting for the Normies to be on because I always want to see the reaction of the people that had the question that literally EVERY Naruto fan had, “Who is he?!”
"So you just want to destroy the world because of that ?" In Obito's mind...yes. A reality without Rin alive and safe is meaningless and doesnt exist...it does not compute for him, explaining his full detachement of it.
Well, the question Kakashi asked Obito, wasn’t why he wants to destroy the world, the question was why he didn’t reveal to anyone he was alive lol. The reason for his actions is reveled in the Kamui dimension and Obito said it’s cus of Shinobi, not that a reality without Rin is meaningless cus if Obito were to revive Rin back in this reality it would be pointless to him as long shinobi continues to exist.
A bunch of people thought it was Obito back when the manga was still ongoing. He literally has the same hair style, 1 eye, and names contain same letters. A lot of people also thought Minato was Pein back when it only shown the spiritual form
I am not sure if I remember this correctly, but Madara says, "you had an accident, but it was almost as if you passed right through the boulder" something like this. So, maybe before his face could crush completely, Kamui got triggered instinctively. So, he might have had Mongeyou even before Rin died. 15:55 "real reality" what does it even mean? Their reality might already just be an illusion, but it doesn't matter; the subject never questions the reality they are in(every reality is as real as this reality is to you, complexity may differ). Uchihas(Genjutsu users) just realize this better. 17:33 remember how Tobi suddenly got interested and wanted Kabuto to explain how Edo Tensei works?! Now you know what he was thinking(unfortunately, now he doesn't have her body). No, it's not just because Rin died; you will see "why" in the "I am in hell" episode.
oh my....Chris on the episode where Tobi was explaining to Naruto, Kakashi and Yamato the past of Sasuke and said while looking at Kakashi : I want to become a complete form....Chris face was like loading...............88 % when i first wacthed i was thinking Tobi was Shisui
