Mega murdered this. Nas was nice too. Nas was laid back and smooth and was painting pictures but Mega was straight spitting darts. I wish they would work today.
Cormega is well underrated and will forever be one of the Illest MCs. However his whole flow is raw where as Nas is smooth and glides over the tracks and his delivery is on point.
Nas never hated on Mega. It was the company that both of them kept that fed them bullshit. Same with Prodigy. A lot of so called riffs could've been solved by eliminating certain people in their circles and actually hashing shit out face to face.
You can tell that Nas was bent at the time。He learned from his past mistakes。Plus he was not freestyling。He stepped back and let Cormega shine。Mega is talented and I love all of his work。But Nas is Nas。Nas has the complete package。
nas was jealous of mega and got mentally thrown off when he ran out of writtens. mega's intelligence is unmatched, though i bet he was just trying to shine...not knowing he would OUTSHINE
Axel Minani nas learned from mega and mega helped him get better... thats why nas gif mega the most props on that cd... and that time mega was in.jail thats why they didnt make a song on illmatic
the term freestyle was meant to reference the context of the raps, freestyle just meant "not a song". Bars or verses that are taken out a song and rapped on to another beat/BPM, losses its initial context of being part of a song, making it more a showcase of their random lyrics and style, hence the term. In the 90s until the 2000s rappers did "freestyles" during press runs for their albums and most of them used verses from their upcoming projects.
Alec Waniak I know bro I'm really trying to figure out how he never blew. No one knows him down in dallas but whenever I show someone his music their blown away. I'm guessing his problems with nas had something to do with it
I rapped every Nas verse cause it ended up on an album...megas shit was off the top without question cause you never heard it again...Nas mad talented no question, but Mega heart stronger
that's not true, check out cormega "62 pick ups" you just dont know all the Mega verses because they aren't as iconic as the verses Nas spit from The Message that every hip hop head knows
Cormega was already a legend in QB before Nas came out. Nas is a master lyricist but he is still mostly a studio rapper. Just check out that other freestyle with Nas and Akinele and you be the judge.
Mega never stumbled one time.smh the game over look how ready he was.Nas had the fire 🔥 too I got a long list for Queens.south side/ NC Curtflow_Dollaz
Gregory Ashley For real man like if every song ruining Foxey Brown verse was replaced by a dope Cormega verse the Firm's album could potentially be the GOAT
James Walton foxy kills shit listen to both unreleased firm la familias....shes dope...but I see what yall r sayin still about just the dudes in the limeup
At this very moment I just realized they incorporated the storyline from Nas-The Message & put the character Black in the movie Belly then played out the scenario through the barbershop scene🤦🏿♂️
Cormega is one of my favourite mcs. This wasn't his best work, he comes across alot more poetic on his tracks, go listen to the saga remix, endangered species, fallen soldiers and definetely"I want it back" one of the best testaments to hip hop culture. But he compared himself to al Pacino 3 times in this freestyle.
