Nas STILL Relevant?!?! | NAS Thun Reaction 

I (Casey) was talking to Court about my "pen game" comment earlier today and I realized what my mistake is. I have a completely different definition of Pen game / lyrical game. I see pen game as bending rhymes into double and triple entenders (Eminem specialty). I now understand a lot of people see it as story telling Pen game with bars and entenders Imbedded. So I can see why people are upset with what I said. I meant no disrespect and in what I call Story telling Pen I would wholeheartedly agree Em does not touch Nas in that aspect. Hope that clears it up from my end. My mistake, words matter, definitions matter. 🙏🍻

Nas pen game is unmatched. Em has his own style of writing which is unique to him. No one raps about what Nas does in the way he does.

Remenice, Beef, Micheal & Quincy, Once a man twice child, 30, I'm on fire, etc. Honestly can't go wrong on this album. It's all quality.

The “Queens keeps on caking it” line was a response to KRS-One back in ‘86-87 saying “Queens keeps on faking it” on “The Bridge is Over” during his beef with MC Shan. That took Queens out of the conversation until Nas brought the city back (Hip Hop-wise) when he dropped Illmatic 7 years later in 1994.

Em has wordplay But his Bars never are as Impactful as Nas not even close!!!!!!

Those bars going over my man's head. A lot of people miss Nas word play because they are too worried about simple punchlines. His music is way more complex than dude realizes. It reads like poetry and he uses many literary devices all while having substance.

Thun is amazing and I love the Title because it brings you into his world where the inhabitants speak what's called "thun lingo". "Didn't take a couple albums, people said it from day one From wings with hot sauce to tuna tartare, driven in RRs From hidin' from robbery victims in back of cop cars Tatted from my neck to abdomen Almost gettin' shot was averagin' once every two weeks Blessed what I had to been". Em's a lyric beast but Nas' lyrical depth is on another stratosphere. Em's lyrical abilities as a wordsmith are fantastic but they are completely devoid of depth, soul and content/subject matter. They are either very morbid, trashy, violent or silly or a mixture of all 4. And most of his songs today just sound like he's doing lyrical Olympics... just rhyming anything with anything lacking germaneness and without resonating with the average sane person. Nas is Shakespeare, Langston, Poe, Kipling, if not greater. His lyrics and concepts are something to behold.

Nas is always disregarded simply because he doesn't do basic nursery rhymes that even a 10 year old can dissect. The average hip hop listener is either not smart enough or simply inexperienced enough with hip hop history to follow most what Nas raps about. His storytelling is forever laced with layer after layer of past events relating to present circumstance and future outcomes. His rhymes aren't static at all and always, I mean always build up to a specific cohesive narrative. Em will drop crazy punchline but at the end of the 3:30 of the track you realize he's said absolutely nothing relevant!
