TheDarkwing76 the flags are moving because you can see that the craft is flying in an atmosphere during those frames. it seems to me that the video creator wanted to show the power of the warp nacelles by showing that they are also able to land and takeoff from the earth, Wich makes the space docks shown in other frames a useless spectacle too.
Imagine if you can make radio transmitters bend space time? But in that current era they might have to just rely on plain old messages for the job, bye bye internet!
Yes it has! And the poo gets released to space where it travels 5-7 times the speed of light. Eventually hitting a planet and destroy everything on it.
Not really, the video clearly states at the beginning that this was a proof of concept of what they believe a warp capable ship would look like. Nobody even knows if an Alcubierre drive would even work, or how it would even work. It'll be a very long time before we'll know that.
The only way we know to warp space is with mass. You need enormous mass, like black hole generating mass, to warp space in a way that would create a warp drive. Since that much mass would also crush the ship and its occupants, we are going to need to master some kind of new physics we haven't even guessed at yet.
The latest unified field theories would disagree with you. Spacetime can be manipulated far more easily than the Church of Einstein would have you believe. This is at least partly due to the errors Einstein made in his incomplete general relativity theory, and partly due to new physics unknown to Einstein that has been discovered since then. For details, see upitec.org and get caught up to current with the physics.
this is why we never see space aliens. It is impossible to travel at even 10% of light speed. and if you could a speck of dust would liquify your ship if you hit it.
Klint shayler The detections of gravitational waves is a great achievement, however they were caused by two giant masses merging, supporting my original post. Black holes and neutron stars would either spaghetify you or flatten you and your ship to a paste. Just because we see it in nature doesn’t mean it’s applicable on a human scale. Warp drive is a couple of centuries away at least and may never be possible. It’s just something we must live with.
@Klint shayler Please, include more links to conspiracy, alien invasion and other videos with absolutely no proof of these things ACTUALLY EXISTING IN REALITY!
Space, the last frontier. These are the voyages of the starship enterprise. Its mission is to discover new worlds, search for new forms of life and civilization, and boldly go where no human foot has ever set foot."
That looks impressive, although I won't live to see it happen. And when you arrive, are we going to send a message back to Earth, and how long will it take for them to receive it? 0:50-Flags waving in space, that's a new one
Caveats: Warp would be forbidden inside solar system for obvious reasons of collision with objects, including avoiding destroying the earth. 2. You have to worry about colliding with objects out in space. 3. What if there's a breakdown, how do you come back?
I would like to live long enough to see a viable warp ship become a reality but alas I don't think one will exist for at least another century...Possibly two.
@@EnoEshk these interplanetary wars did not involve humans. the first contact humans make in star trek, is with the vulcans, in about two thousand one hundred AD as vulcans seen humans develop their first warp drive and begin their exploration, so the vulcans deem humans worthy of first contact. all the wars star fleet/humans are involved in with aliens, is at least one hundred years from our present year. so star trek timeline is quite realistic.
Warp field math works out easier if the ship is moving at high velocity before the warp drive is engaged. Also, pulse the fields rather than make them continuous during forward motion the momentum is very difficult to overcome otherwise.
This starship should really be the spaceship in a star trek series. It is my favourite space ship ever. As the person below says it looks Vulcan, or in other words from another world reality. It also looks very heavenly :)
Lost in space filming crew:let’s make a fake spacecraft,we'll call it the resolute. NASA in 2018:Hey that's my spaceship design from two years ago,DAMN YOU NETFLIX
Okay...sure. I doubt this is even conceptual at this time. We have not even sent men to Mars yet but we are talking about sending people in a theoretical ship to Alpha Centauri. I am all for thinking big but this is way down the road and thats if we figure out how to navigate some huge question marks. I think about a large star or black hole when I think about bending space. Both have an enormous amount of mass. This is click bait at best.
This is the Alcubierre white warp drive ,nothing to do with NASA the newest paper was written on the Alcubierre/Froning warp drive the effect of this drive includes conditioned photonic drive which serves as a deflector shield and possible accelerated time warp a must see.
Oh come on. A-the propulsion system would require more energy each use than humanity can produce globally. That's a significant engineering challenge. B-it wouldn't be able to fly in atmosphere, so why bother animating it flying around like an airplane? C-Where the hell did the "two weeks" part come from?
We will have to do a better job in reverse engineering all those UFO crafts we have collected over the last few decades. Then maybe we will get the drive sooner, otherwise we won't see in our children's life time.
White's chief discovery is that by reshaping the warp envelope to a donut shape the energy requirements could be drastically- and I do mean drastically- reduced. Hence the rings. It's still far more than it would be humanly possible to generate. Yeah, there's a whole lot of hype involved in this. But the point is that if the energy requirement can be reduced so much just by changing the shape of the envelope, there is no reason why it can't be reduced even further.
Robert E. Waters look up emdrive, nasa has peer reviewed it and confirms that it works, along with multiple different organizations testing it and confirming it does in fact work. The emdrive could potentially reach speeds of faster than light as it accelerates unlimitedly, it could run forever. NASA is testing within the next coming month or two.
Machiavelli2pc This is not the EM drive. This is the Alcubierre Drive. Which is also theoretically possible, but takes an enormous amount of energy and works by warping space.
Brendan McMonigal, Geraint F. Lewis, and Philip O'Byrne have argued that when an Alcubierre-driven ship decelerates from superluminal speed, the particles that its bubble has gathered in transit would be released in energetic outbursts akin to a sonic boom shockwave; in the case of forward-facing particles, energetic enough to destroy anything at the destination directly in front of the ship
This is fantastic, especially since the referenced star is located over 4 light-years away; -accelerating to a speed greater than the speed of light; making the mass of the ship infinite' and completely defying our understanding of physics as related to the theory of relativity. Keep up the great work. Live long and prosper.
Anyway the concept of warping space is an old one. It's the basis of the Judaic concept known as "kefitzatz ha-derech" or "jumping of the path" where it is described in numerous accounts of a person traveling a very long distance, over every bit of that distance, yet somehow the time traveled is almost nothing. for example, a 5 week journey by horse, the person travels the entire road, and notices that it takes about half an hour to do.
No, it is only 0.2 light years from α Cen A and B, and is gravitationally bound with the other two stars. It is most definitely a member of the star system (α Cen AB-C).
This is absolutely breathtaking! Still I'm satisfied in knowing I won't live to see it come to fruition. Having lived to see the ISS launched and the rise of social media and who knows what else to come is more than enough. Not to mention the first actual proof of a black hole! I'm truly grateful.
I hope that will work, I still have faith in it but at the same time, I wonder how would the hyperdrive thing function to cause the space to be bent around the ship. You know this is getting really exciting.
No. We won't even travel to Mars, as humanity, including the American people, are bored with space travel. And face it, the costs of even TRYING far exceed any return we would reap.
If you're a young boy you COULD experience going to alpha centauri when the apocalypse arrives. I'm not sure if you want to live on a planet with a different atmosphere, animals, metals, and air you breathe in.
Yes Joseph Robinson travelling to another planet is going to be real very soon. Check out this computer site to see pictures of the first people who will be building a new city on Mars ! community.mars-one.com/last_activity/ALL/18/82/ALL/ALL/5/3 Sign up for their website and tell them you would like to go to Mars and they will review your application...no kidding!
I must say that this is a really cool looking ship. I also hope NASA, along with private enterprise will achieve such a journey in the distant future. The quest for knowledge in the Universe is paramount. We are a curious species, intimately, connected to the starry heavens.
@@commonsense2322 yes Proxima, a red dwarf, revolves around the twin stars Alpha A and B, each with similarities to our own sun, at quite a distance from them, but it is the third star in the 3 star system. It's not an "independent" star system, like Barnard's star, another nearby red dwarf (6 light years away), from the other two stars, being gravitationally influenced by them, but may be a "solar system" in its own right with planets that are independent of Alpha A and B, which may be two other "solar systems", each with planets, as well. Basic Astronomy 101.
PRESUMING that all of this comes to pass and a space craft could reach the Alpha Centauri star system in "two weeks" Is that Ship time or Earth time?? How much time would past on earth relative to the space-craft??
@@keithshackleton3173 it is. By bending soace and time with a high mass object like a black hole, you can bend time and created a sort of worm hole through space ans travel faster than light and feel like a 1 year yourney is just a few days long.
Not true. From NASA.gov 6/2016: "Is Warp Drive Real? Ever since the sound barrier was broken, people have turned their attention to how we can break the light speed barrier. But “Warp Drive” or any other term for faster-than-light travel still remains at the level of speculation. The bulk of scientific knowledge concludes that it’s impossible, especially when considering Einstein’s Theory of Relativity. There are certainly some credible concepts in scientific literature, however it’s too soon to know if they are viable. Science fiction writers have given us many images of interstellar travel, but traveling at the speed of light is simply imaginary at present. In the meantime, science moves forward. And while NASA is not pursuing interstellar flight, scientists here continue to advance ion propulsion for missions to deep space and beyond using solar electric power. This form of propulsion is the fastest and most efficient to date. There are many “absurd” theories that have become reality over the years of scientific research. But for the near future, warp drive remains a dream." The video says it's based on Einstein's theory of relativity, when in fact NASA states the bulk of scientific knowledge state it's impossible', "especially when considering Einsteins theory of relativity." But i have hope someone will figure it out someday. A great deal of science fiction has become science fact. However, this story is a complete fabrication. I really wish people would verify info at credible sources before they share. Just go to NASA.gov.
@Goldsword Animations it is even said that due to Einstein's relativity breaking the speed of light barmier is impossible as that would mean you are all over the universe at once and you are as big as the universe when you active the speed of light. now science fiction says otherwise and yes science fiction have been proven right a few times maybe this time they will too. let us all hope that ultra light speed is possible, as it stands we are constrained by the slow speed of ligh considering the distances in the universe the speed of light is ant speed
Keep in mind that Einstein is not the last word on how the universe works. If he was, no quantum theory would have been needed! And quantum theory is incomplete as well. So, the naysayers must concede that their negativities come from their assumption that Relativity is not only complete but correct, and we already know relativity is incomplete in Einstein's own words.
The idea of warping space to quicken space travel has been floated for a while but it still hasn't been attempted. Obviously a very small version could be sent out into space to test it if they really thought it could zip across the galaxy that fast.
fun fact do you know which ship can travel at the exact same way this ship does the ship in Futurama travels faster than the speed of light by moving the space around it it's a trip how now this is going to be possible
Nothing more than an artist’s conception. We have no clue how to build and power an Alcubierre drive or any other “warp” technology. Crossing 4 light years of space in 2 weeks is about 100x light speed, or warp factor 4 on the Star Trek TNG scale.
I wonder how this distortion would affect the passage of time within the ship relative to earth? Would they return a month later unaffected, or would we all be 15 years older?
the field would HAVE to be fully outside the ship, containing the ship inside a "bubble" so time passage shouldn't vary, the bigger concern is exotic particles and things they may exist within the bubble as space is bending around it, atleast thats what I remember reading when Nasa first discussed this concept.
Ok let's say there is a craft capable of doing this my question is how are they going to avoid meteors and other space debris..if you travel at speeds you need an avoidance system in place
So NASA is now taking scenes from Star Trek and making them come to life with Warp Speed ships and ships that look like they came from Star Trek itself.
I mean at that speed, getting around our solar system would be literally instantaneous. Planet colonization and research would be routine. It most likely would be faster than some long commutes back and forth to work.
Unfortunately the "exotic materials" this ship would require are not known to actually exist. In fact it would up end physics if we discovered they existed. Alcubierre warp drive works on paper but it is probably impossible.
Come on guys.. NASA doesn’t even have a mock-up of the new space station that gonna replace the ISS. If anything, this’ll come to fruition in about 1000 years, if humans are even around then to do this.
We haven't even figured out how to bend space nor what we will do with massive radiation. Hell, bending space around the ship would cause so much disturbance around it could even affect celestial bodies like our own solar system.
Even if it would be built, it would need loads of antimatter as fuel. Which right now we can only produce with the Large Hadron Collider. But the amount needed would take us hundreds of thousands of years using the LHC. If we wanna go Faster Than Light in our lifetimes we need an accelerator bigger than our solarsystem.
