In the video they forgot to add that Max's mother, Sophie Kumpen was an excellent karting racer. She even race at that time with Jenson Button(F1 World champion) Christian Horner Max's boss at red Bull and she won against them all. She was SO good, but then she had Max and stopped her career. So Max have the racing ADN from both parents. And watching her race you can see a lot of her influence in Max's racecraft, a lot more than his father.

Max is Dutch, he has a Dutch passport/nationality and grew up with his Dutch father. His mother is Belgian, but Max does not hold a Belgian nationality. (He also speaks with a Dutch accent rather than Flemish)

He developed a new technique for safety car restarts, in which he forces the car in front to take a suboptimal line. In Dutch language, words with letter 'a' are not pronounced with an 'e' sound as is usual in English. The sound of the 'a' is like in the words 'car' or 'bar' in English, not like 'hat' or 'that'. Interestingly, in this video the name 'Verstappen' is pronounced correctly, but 'Max' is pronounced as 'Mex' while it should have the same 'a' sound as in Verstappen.

Max was living nearby. For me Belgium and Germany is just 15 min driving by car😂 (south of the Netherlands). You should search for orange army max verstappen 😉 In Austria every year around 80.000 max verstappen fans travel from The Netherlands to Austria. That's 1000 km or 11 hours driving by car😂

I am Dutch and can tell you this video is not correct in a few ways, i come from the south we all grow up with max in the cart even at the age of 9 you could see he had a rare talent. Yes Jos was tuff in the training of max but never unfair. He talk about the cold, but in fact Jos said to max if you want to be in F1 then you cant stop when the wetter gets bad, you have to keep on pushing (a line witch max still juse). In the cold and in the rain, drive and find lines were you can be fast, if you want to be a truckdriver then we can stop now, Max choose to stay outside, thats the real story behind that. It paid of as he is driving lines in the wet witch no1 else can. And Yes he got max out of the car at a gas station in Italy after a bad drive but did not drove of because he knew his mum was behind him an should arrive soon, when she arrived then he drove of. Max lived not with his mother after the devors, he went to his dad his sis stayed with his mum. And he is dutch has a dutch passport. we are very proud of him especialy in the South were he is from.

The rules have changed. Now the minimum age is indeed 18, but when Max started they could get into f1 earlier.

Correction: i'll forgive your ignorance but Verstappen is as much a dutch name as a belgian one. 60% of belgians are native dutch( flemish) speakers and live in the north, 39% french and 1% german in the south. Ignorant americans just think belgium is french speaking coz the capital brussels is mostly french speaking and that is all they know. Quite annoying honnestly. 1. I'm as much a fan of Max as i dislike his father. Off screen a guy with a very short fuse. Assaulted his wife ( max his mother) , other girlfriends and broke a mans skull at a kartingtrack ( thogether with his own dad) ,.. etc. I'm his age and Never liked him, and still dont. That nose bleed 😂, not coz of stress 😂 2. His dad may have trained him rigourously, but the talent comes from his mother, arguably the better driver of the 2 parents. Not kidding, others in her family ( Kumpen) are succesfull drivers as well. Moneywise max never would have had any worries in life anyway. Dont know about Jos his "fortune", but the moms family are some of the richest people in Belgium. 3. Max is Dutch, grew up in Belgium tho ( where he was home) , never lived a day in the Netherlands. So that part is wrong. But i agree he probably feels more dutch as he spent most time on the road with his Dutch dad. BUT the main reason for picking the Dutch nationality and race under a dutch licence is in my opinion just a smart business decision. Better and bigger sponsors, a much bigger population that easily passes by the giftshop and is always pasionate about its sports heroes. It would be very hard to get a Belgian crowd as hyped up similar to the Orange army, that is something special, and even as a Belgian i very much enjoy their presence at Spa or anywhere else . So yeah max is dutch and hardly mentions his belgian heritage, i dont really mind it. Lando Norris on the other hand has never lived here, but his mother is Flemish ( dutch speaking Belgian) and he mentions it t every possible occasion 😂. And i do like that , also cool that him and Max are good friends. Lance Stroll his mom is also Belgian btw., not that good of a driver, but still .... so we basically breed f1 drivers, but arent recognised for it 😂 🤘❤️
