5:21 Perfect donuts - this is Kalle Rovanperä, WRC Champion 2022. Driving on a Toyota Celica ST185. No wonder why donuts are good as Kalle is doing some Drifting as an "side hobby" also. ;)
I was there it was in October, It is a 4 days dream really ! Everything is so awesome, I can't even describe the feeling and the ambiance, everytime I watch a video I get shivers. the people coming from all over Europe to San Marino just so see these fckg awesome legend cars (because they're all EXs from years ago or just cars you don't see nowadays 'cause they're extremely rare and expensive) and drivers (there was even the 2022 WRC champion Kalle Rovanpera in the yellow Toyota celica, miki biason, Latvala, Walter Rhorl, markku alen...) the big Porsche you saw is a Porsche Dakar from 1986 I believe, the Audis are rallycross wrx supercars, the equivalent of wrc in rallycross with 600bhp !! This is an event like no others, a big show where the stages are timed but it's not important for anyone, just spectacle and crazy atmosphere so I'm really glad you reacted to this 😄
Hi Ian Have been to Rally Legends for the last 6 years with my husband Frank Kelly in Baby Blue (Fast, Sideways & Mental). It’s based in San Marino and it’s a must do & see. Fantastic place & the fans are wild.
The Audi s1 is a rallycross spec car.. hence why you wouldn’t have seen it in other rally videos. It technically doesn’t/is eligible to enter WRC (FIA) rally events but this is rally legend so they do what they want. 👌🏽
That Porsche is a 911 Baja, this year the Porsche mothership announced a Dakar version straight from the factory. There is one company in the US that can do the conversion from standard to Baja but it costs a pretty penny...if I'm not mistaken Hoovie from Hovvies Garage gad the intention of morphing his clapt out Porche.
Love your channel mate. Cheers from Tasmania. Hope you have a great Christmas. 🎄 Went for a drive with a rally driver back in the 80s still haven't gotten over it. Brave drivers.
Rally Legend is insane it’s just a rally party for 4 straight days. I’ve been 6 times now. The fans are crazy, the fireworks, flares, flags, air horns… you name it they have it. It’s as close as you’ll ever get to stepping back into the Group B days from the types of cars you can see to the crazy people running out onto the road to cheer on the drivers the whole thing is just nuts! And San Marino is a beautiful country I always stay an extra day or two and explore the old town. It’s really cool on the Friday night they bring all the rally cars up to the old town at the top of the mountain for a regroup. It’s so cool seeing rally cars drive through a historic site. The racing on Friday night can go on until 3 or 4am! If there was one rally event I would recommend it would be rally legend because of the amazing atmosphere, the freestyle nature of it where a lot of the drivers are just driving for pure fun (hence all the big slides and donuts lol), and for the sheer variety of cars you will see. You get everything from the group B cars, modern WRC cars, kit cars, modified cars, even some drift cars are allowed to take part it’s so cool!
@3:05 it's a Peugeot 106 (a gen2 16V I believe), the smallest car of the brand between 1991 and 2003; The blue Renault just after is a Maxi Megane; @4:30 that's a Hyundai Accent WRC from the early 2000's; @5:00 Fiat Punto/ Edit: nope, it's a Skoda, thanks GiorGiiTV 😅 Love your Rally reactions ^_^
i was at rally legend 4 times and i must said its fantastic to see all thoese car the legend cars of wrc and some of the best driver that was once at wrc and its a must to go event and i am from europe so for me its easy to go and salut from europe (slovenia)
have you seen any of Sebastian Loeb's onboard videos? he makes it look so easy.... it would be nice to see you react to one of the greatest WRC champions ever stage drives, like this one from Rally de France 2013: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-NUauZ9UX7J8.html
In some Slavic countries theres a Meme about Skoda Octavia (Škoda sedan) We call it Škodilak ( basically Škoda+Cadillac ) You can probably Import that one Ian since it's basically a Jetta at a reasonable price XD
Already been 6 times in 10 years , not far from south of france, a dream for any fan of rallye and old group B . A pleasure to see all the car in a huge stage , take photos, vidéos and meet all drivers .
There are many Hungarian flags outside. We have a similar madness here in Hungary, but what we really look forward to every year are the Santa Claus rally(write: Mikulás rally) and the New Year's rally( write: Szilveszter rally), look for it, I think you'll like it!
hi from im damo from south australia. thats bloody awesome rally. i love most motorsports but rally would have to be one of the best....ian ive been watching your videos from the start and love em all. wishing you and your lovely family a very merry christmas and a happy new year god bless
08:00 The Focus is 4 cylinder, but I owned a couple of Mk2 STs and a Mk2 Focus RS.. they all had the IL5 2.5L engine. My RS was the ultimate green colour, much like the front end of the rally car. Epic car and much missed.
1:57 Toyota Celica GT 3:12 Peugeot 106 GTi 4:05 Renault Clio 16v RS 5:59 Porsche 911 modified for the Dakar Rally 7:07 BMW E30 8:35 BMW E36 10:36 Subaru Impreza, same spec as the late, great, Colin McRae drove
Something else! 👌🏼✌🏼 Ash Sowman Americans Want You to Forget About This Race (Jeffrey Herlings vs. Eli Tomac) ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-R-BleZkNdEU.html
Italy, San Marino. Its hell of a time. its a show more than a rally, with all the historic cars and the craziest drivers having fun. Party all day and all night.
The Renault you see is known as a GT Turbo 2. It was based on the standard GT Turbo, but for rallying, they moved the engine into the back of the car, and switched from fwd to rwd, hence the wider track. They added a second turbo to the 1.4L four cylinder. Not sure if this is the right video, but now you know.
I have been there... For real, the best rallye event in the world. I had thé chance to meet lot of old World rallye champions, had a round with a pilot in a delta HF integrale.... So much fun and nice meetings. If you love rallye, it's a place where to be in your life. Greatings from France...
8:00 ford focus wrc with 4 cylinders they are very rare to find, we have 1 here madeira island where i live.....portuguese territory.....our main rally used to be in the european championship but unfortunetly we're no longer there, we have rally legends too but we had only 2 so we are way above that rally.....still learning and trying to bring some of those precious cars....thanks for your videos and thanks for liking rallies....
08:05 If i remember correct you were able to get inline 5cyinders as road cars in the St and RS version of that Focus generation, but the rallye cars always were inline 4's because of the rulesets that defeined 4cyl and the displacement.
Besides of the glory days in the 80's with the Group B cars (you know what I mean ;P) the 90's and early 00's were by far the best ages in rally history. :D I'll never forget me sittin' infront of the TV at around 6 or 8 years of age watching the battles between the Subaru Impreza WRX STI (from GC8 to Hawkeye) and the Mitsubishi EVO (IV to X) and the Toyota Celica WRC (T16 to T18), Peugeot 306/206 WRC, Citroen ZX/Xsara WRC; with slides and screaming pipes. :) Such a joy.^^ Today I'd only enjoy/watch the Classic Rally Events where the 'seniors' come to battle again. The new class isn't my type so far but I go on pushin' my thumbs for Toyota/GR with the Yaris GR WRC. :P
@IWrocker That Focus mk2 facelift is a RS - 306hp fwd stock, in rallye trim waay hotter and 4wd. The engine is indeed a inline-5 - made by Volvo. I own it's little brother, a 2006 pre-facelift ST with "only" 226hp. A bit more comfort and not as expensive as a RS. Those go for crazy money.
I actually met the driver of that first Audi while in a queue at a burger joint, really nice and cool guy, apparently he lives just an hour away from where I live😂🤩
Rally Legends, yes it's still a competition, but not so seriously anymore, but it's already a show for old fans who remember the years of rally. Legends are driven all over Europe, in Germany, Italy, Great Britain, Spain, the Czech Republic, Poland, Hungary... simply everywhere in Europe.
the yellow toyota celica (second car in this vid) was Kalle Rovanperä, the youngest EVER WRC champion. he started driving mopeds and ATVs at age of 2-3 years. YES. its true. also he drove his FIRST rally car in age of 8 years. there is also video of that :D... his first ever rally event was in 10-11 years old, some rally-sprint event in europe, because finland wont let drive as he was so young... lol. in 15 years he was dominating in european rally championship, then he moved to WRC2, 4wd cars, he killed it too... annnnd not too long, few years of WRC and he is already world rally CHAMPION in age of 22.
A nice spot, some drinks and food and you can have a great day. The Small white car was an Audi A1 or more likely based on a RS1. It is an amazing small car in the class of a mini.
Hi Ian i see you like fast an good sounding cars so i have 2 recommodations to you the fist one is "Grabfeldrally 2022 higlights" (good sounds and cars) and the second is "Sabine Schmitz's Nurburgring Van CHALLENGE" (fast driving) Sabine was the queen of the nordschleife before she died cause of cancer.
Check out some Hunsrück Rally it´s in my Region in Germany and Parts of it is on a German+American Trainings Ground for Tanks and other Vehicles just a Mile from my House away between Idar-Oberstein and Baumholder in the Staate Rheinland -Pfalz south-West Germany
i recommend watching ken block in his rally or gymkhana videos (Gymkhana has 10+ vids) as well as travis pastrana and his rally cross events or his gymkhana events (2021 and 2022).
I so want Perth Western Australian government to bring back WRC Forrest rally, Western Australia has some of the best ever tracks and the best ever pea gravel roads.
