I still have it somewhere at my parents house with my ps2. Problem is i could never bring myself to play it in years with such grainy graphics. Felt like I was driving blind
Dead Viking Nascar Heat Evolution Had Not Bad Damage’s But Nascar Heat 2 Had Ok Damage But It Was Weird Nascar Heat 3 Had Good Damage But When Nascar Heat 4 Maybe Has More Damages And The Tire Can Come Off
I want the option to play around with the playoff format. I want to be able to choose how many drivers make the chase or go back to the old points system. I think that would be cool
I really would like to see them add driver swaps like F1 2019 where drivers swap other rides and maybe even have the Xfinity and Truck guys move up. Also random schedule in career mode would be nice like after you run a season the schedule switches and it's random at times
The last 3 min of the video are basically "Yes its fun, No its not a sim, yes its fun for console, no its not iracing, yes its a good game, no its not iracing" Like... I think... We... get...it....
DustyWarden i do because a new generation system game should be more realistic and simulation this game looks like a playstation 2 game on a playstation 4 system. With new gen technology the graphics should be as realistic as watching this race live on the TV. The damage is garbage no damage on the cars other than the hood. No black circles around the door panels when rubbing off the wall or other cars. EA sports did a far better job with the visual damage model. New generation system the cars should have engine damage, missing parts like hoods, fenders. There is also no DNFs in the game which makes it unrealistic. Sure it’s just a game but being on a new generation system it should be more realistic. Here is what this game needs in order to be a more realistic simulation racing game, and if 704 wants to just develop these as an arcade i surely won’t buy another. 4 games and they are all just a copy paste of the last one. Here is what these games need More realistic damage parts flying off the car like Nascar thunder Caution replay Driver introduction where the announcers call off the starting grid start of the national anthem and a flyover and fireworks Day into night transition that they said would be in this game yet it’s not DNFs rivalrys Sure it’s not Iracing but i have played other console racing games more realistic than this like Forza,Dirt 4,and Need for speed.
It's a valid thing to add in the video. I had those questions myself. I've wanted my iRacing oval fix for a long time, but I haven't been able to. Sadly there just isn't a replacement out there. I could tell just by watching the game footage though that this was another arcade racer. Still, it's free on Steam right now, so I may have to hook up my wheel and try it out.
NASCAR: Inside Line was an incredible game. The physics were just spot on. I did multiple full races at the toughest difficulties and I felt like I was driving a car after a few long runs. So great
Recently started playing Heat 4, liking it so far... One funny moment: racing at daytona, near the back of the pack, got hit in turn 4, started to spin, went through the grass, trying to recover before hitting the wall, straight-up rammed the pace car from behind! -Ooops 😄😂😬
I stumbled over your videos a couple of months ago, watching your career in NH3. That got me to watch a couple of real races on TV and I enjoy them tremendously. As I live in Europe though, the time difference can be a challenge sometimes. I will probably buy this game based on your review as Nascar racing seems very fun and intense, and the improved physics won't drive me insane like 3 probably would. Thank you for your videos. You and s1apsh0es got me into Nascar.
I just got this game, I’ve never played it before but I saw how good the graphics looked on an Instagram ad and it’s downloading now. Can’t wait to play!
I’m a huge NASCAR fan and love NASCAR games but that ping pong thing it Heat 3 annoyed the hell out of me. I’m so glad they fixed that but there are two things I think they need to put in the game that seems like it would be easy to put into the game. I’m no video game designer though so who knows. We need DNF’s. I hate how you can hit the wall at 200mph then go in the pits and have a brand new car. Have an option to turn DNF’s on or off for those people that don’t want them. The dirt series needs heat races and an LCQ and we need the duels at Daytona. Those two things I think would make the game feel a little more realistic and would make it a little more enjoyable for me.
Think you hit the nail on the head here man. 7-7.5/10 is right where I'm at. It is a ton of fun to play but if they could've given just that extra something to seasons and career it would be in the 9 territory. Still incredibly fun and worth the money.
Thanks for the review, I personally started playing with Nascar 2004 (or was it 2005?) when I was really young. Ever since I got into FM6, ive been wanting to play some Nascar and have some arcade Nascar fun! Thanks again :)
GREAT review!! Thank you for making this video! I'm still annoyed they don't have the Gatorade Duels OR the All-Star race..No reason why they can't have that in this game. The game looks and sounds GREAT.
The EA locker was awesome as well. Being able to share content i.e. paint schemes and setups. NH4 is a big step forward but still not worth $50. Also add the Whelan Modified series, hell I'd pay another $10 for that.
For me, the best Nascar game ever was Nascar 06 because the game was fun to race like you described and it had a great career mode. Just all the different elements like reputation, team ownership, contracts, car customization, and even little things like celebrations, autograph sessions, and drivers trying to punch you in the face after you crashed them gave the game so much character. It is the reason I never really liked NR2003. The game is bare bones. Trying to race with my controller and spending an hour trying to get it configured was not fun. I'm not a sim nut. I want a game with a lot to do and get that feeling of being a rising Nascar champion. As long as the physics appear grounded and the feel of driving a stock car is there, I'll enjoy it. I might check this game out if the career is fun. It looks great and people are saying the driving is fun. I held off on the last three. I'm just wondering if it is worth supporting 704 and grabbing Heat 4 or waiting for Heat 5 to see if that is any better.
I'm new to NASCAR in general and I really appreciate the detailed commentary on the game as it relates real life. I think I'll get the new one whenever it comes out.
What do you mean to change the settings to make it more of a sim than arcade? I haven’t purchased the game but went to Charlotte Roval race and now I think i want to buy this game.
your review and knowledge of nascar racing is very accurate. nice job. these companies need to hire people like you for consulting if anything. maybe they did this time around
At very least, K&N needs to be in. That's such an important part of so many drivers careers in real life that it needs to be in the game to improve career mode. Plus, K&N cars on short tracks would be a blast.
@@JBtheExplorer yeah, at the very least K&N should be included. But there's not much of an excuse if ARCA is excluded. The cars are similar and they have shared dates next season.
Cautions are still broken. Ive been flipped facing wrong way driving backwards half a lap in the dirt series on strict yellows and a caution dont come out yet an AI barely slows on a wall and it tosses a yellow 😂😂😂
I’m satisfied with NASCAR Heat 4 because of the SETTINGS, you can make it to where they act realistic and with the car feeling like it has weight and you having to watch certain things is enough for me to enjoy, also rate 9
They finally found the steering bug with this game. Basically you set steering sensitivity to ONE notch left of centre, to get a 1:1 ratio across the range, with no speedup or slow down across the centre.. Set in game wheel to 180 degrees (it's a meaningless number but this makes you lose the least lock of the left and right extremes compared to your real wheel). Never set it to anything other than 180. And set your real wheel to 540 degrees. Now you have a realistic actual Nascar rack and pinion and driving linearity. It is awesome to drive like this. PS: you really need the clutch to save yourself from some weight transfer issues when left foot braking over cambered corners on road tracks though Also set Brake and Throttle sensitivity all the way to the left for 1:1 linearity
@@ceeinfiniti1389 Don't let that one problem turn you away from the whole game. The AI and the physics are still improved, driving physics and crash physics are different. Game still looks fun. It's not supposed to be a sim
I did the same thing got one was gonna skip 2 but Kyle made the cover ended up buying it, then skipped 3 and so far with 4 i think i could have went another year or two.
I haven't really liked any Nascar games since NR2003 Season, however, after watching this review I am defiantly going to give this one a try on PC if I can get it on a steam sale, time to dust off the old steering wheel and pedals. (great review, thanks)
Test different swaybar settings on the setup screen. I play on controller and can make my tires last a whole fuel tank, play on hard ai with realistic settings
I'm glad Nascar Heat 4 is a good choice! Just downloaded a digital copy to my xbox one. Would love to play it as the Coronavirus has halted NASCAR for a least a few more weeks and I miss it!
I really like the improvement in graphics and car handling. It's a huge step up from Heat 3. That said, I'm so sick of NASCAR games that put zero emphasis on pit stops. Pit stops are the race within the race, and almost none of the games have made an effort to make them realistic. There needs to be competition on pit road, and it's so robotic and meaningless that you might as well turn fuel and tire consumption off. My crew is getting me out in 15+ seconds WTF. Nobody wins races in real life with 15 second stops. Why can't I hire, train, and practice with my pit crew? Instead of making me (the player) sit there watching the pit stop, why not implement a mini-game that allows you to participate in the pit stop? You could actually affect the pit time, and feel responsible for getting your car out first. You could actually be that tire changer pumping his fists with a loud yell after a race-winning stop. I want THAT.
I am interested in NASCAR Heat 4... I have been playing my 19 year old Sierra/Papysus Nascar Racing 4 (I purchased my copy two weeks before the passing of Earnhardt Sr.) for a long time now, because after NR 2003 (which I have been looking for years now), and the demise of Papyrus, there really weren't any more games offered for years worth purchasing that had the physics that even came close to what I have, so I just stopped paying attention to any new releases for the past 5 years... Must look into this now!
It’s a big improvement. Definitely different but the overall graphics and sound are way way better and the way it’s setup is better. I can’t tell if I like the new handling but it’s doable. Setups are all new. But overall it’s great. I do wish the paint booth was better but whatever.
Seems very different to NASCAR 09, haven’t owned one since then and I really enjoyed that game. This seems a bit more of an arcade style game leaning towards sim, is that the case? Tempted to get Heat 5
This game is still unbuyable, and saying this breaks my heart. Until they have a franchise mode like 2k or Madden there just is no real appetite for the game. Nascar Thunder 04 had a tremendous season mode, basic, but nonetheless made me want to play because of retirement and rookies that would come and go. Honestly they need to have where you can create your team and choose drivers and even play against legend drivers like you use to be able to. Unfortunately I feel that they only focus on trying to make the game feel good instead of actually trying to give us features and game modes. Last point I'll make, I am and Avid player of WWE 2K. Is the gameplay good.. it's enough to keep me playing, game modes... fantastic, why? Because not only am I wrestling fan, it tracks everything i do from champion regins and number of days held to how many times I've used a specific wrestler. NBA 2k is a prime example of a game of great modes. Why do I want to play a game where I dont get experience what I see in TV. For me I was always Earnhardt Sr. or Johnson and loved being my favorite drivers and going through season after season competing against the field for the championship. The only thing that Thunder really lacked was the stats category (which individual drivers had) but not a career stats category. I have given up on anybody making a decent NASCAR game and my soul hurts for me feeling this way.
Christian Dutch ..... So you want features over actual gameplay improvement?... And did you seriously compare it to maddens franchise mode? Which has been so stripped down and destroyed, that it’s hardly even playable anymore?
Its a arcade racer marketed to suite console players who are Nascar fans if you play on pc don't expect a sim racer small improvements over the previous release and graphics are average. But if your a nascar fan your going to buy it anyway :-)
All I want from a nascar career mode is for drivers to retire, switch teams, move down a series or move up from Xfinity or Truck and take over real cars. They had that feature back on PS2 so idk why they can’t do it anymore. I’m sure it’s some stupid licensing thing but still. Just make it feel more real.
First i get the ease of a console based "game"to turn it on grab your controller and do some racing. This is for the people that are looking for sim racing and wanting to race with the best sim racers in the world, and no i am not one of them. You have to advance to pro licence to be able to do that although i was in a race this weekend where Bobby Hamilton Jr he was in the race with us. iRacing is the only way to go.I am no way affiliated with iRacing i am just a strong advocate of the PC based platform.I was a huge Gran Turismo fan,and all the nascar games. But once i found iRacing i never looked back. 9 year veteran in iRacing and want to say that please if your wanting to just screw around and not learn proper race craft dont bother. Now with the cost.It really is not bad they give you the cars you need and tracks to get started. Then it is up to you which way you want to go.I started out with a laptop with a HDMI cable running to my TV and already had a G27 wheel.I would love to help anyone interested on how to get started.Let me caution you this is no game there is a governing body with race stewards and a protest system in place.carless driving and retaliation is not tolerated. One of the coolest thing about iRacing is once you load into a room the game never takes over your car.You have to pit you have to pace and yes if you hit someone during this time they will not be very happy with you.Just check out iRacing .com and look at the testimonials these guys are not paid spokesman.I would go directly through iRacing and not steam if you decide to try it out.
The only thing I want from a nascar game is for the ai to make a mistake and cause a crash with other ai drivers. Even if it's not near me or anything like that, that added realism would make a game perfect for me
@@xavierp7783 Not really..literally everyone, including non biased fans, have said the game feels different and plays better. Maybe you should ACTULLY play the game before say some shit
I think we will definitely see it eventually. I hope so. I want to control the car at all times. It's weird when a caution comes out and AI yanks the car over to the nearest rail.
Nascar racing 2003 season, too many mods ;) any pc can run it just saying xD but it'll be too amazing if somethings of the nr2003 get back on the new Games, like the "drivers to your cars" and make a lap behind the pace car starting from the pit road, and hear the "drivers start your engines“ jajaja it would be amazing
Eric Young VFX Agree it is as bad as last years. I’m still experiencing the ping ponging from the AI the AI cars still run into you and spin you out. Also seems no matter how i set up my car the car fish tails. The car control is horrible
@@dareonanderson5388The game is good. Better than Heat 3 in many ways. Until 704 fixes a glitch with the "Optimize visuals for" setting, keep it on "quality" because "performance" makes the wheel jackhammer. The FFB is pretty good and the steering is accurate enough so you can place the car where you want on the track. I also found the throttle and braking very good. The racing and sound is fantastic and immersive, the graphics are acceptable. Tire wear is real and lap times will drop off. Pitting under green is still difficult but easier than Heat 3. I don't know the tracks really well but they all feel different and rewarding when I turn a good lap. The highlight for me is the close racing. There are many AI options so its pretty easy to get the game as challenging as you want.
I think the simulation-style racing will improve in a couple years, once it's on the new gen and they put more work into it. It'll get there, but I wish they had the ability to improve things a little faster.
I first have to say that I'm not a nascar fan. I just couldn't get into it but the games were fun as hell. Out of the games I've played, the nascar thunder games were the best in my opinion. I was never good with the paint booths and actually hated them since I wasn't that good with it. Nascar thunder made that simple with giving us a bunch of designs and then adding whatever colors we want. I also really loved the system of every season companies would pay you to put their logo on your car and you had more control over your car. I'm very disappointed that since then nascar games have gone away from that. On a different note, and I'm biased so please forgive me, but of the cool features with past nascar games was the legends..... so heat for we only get Gordon and Stewart? Now here's where I'm biased because when I did pay attention to nascar we had drivers like Dale sr., Dale jr., sale Jarrett, mark Martin, ect. Personally I want them back. I'm aware that only 40 drivers can race at a time, but I think it would be cool to race and have qualifying mean more. Meaning if they didn't qualify in the top 40 you couldn't race that race. So seeing different guys racing and seeing current roster vs older roster would be more fun. Also this would make owning your own team more fun since you could hire legends to your team which you couldn't do in thunder but I could see it going in that direction had they kept going. Again, I haven't played every nascar game so I only compare to what I know and these doesn't seem to add up to thunder in terms of features.
They need sprint cars. The late models are okay but it needs sprint cars. Knoxville raceway is my local track and it only runs 2 late model events at the very end of the season after the sprint car season is over. It also runs 410's 360's and pros and holds one race of the world of outlaws (which are all classes of sprint cars), all precursors of actual NASCAR instead of the late model crap.
This game is soooooo much better this year. The handling model is fantastic. Only cons I have are the A.I. needs to make mistakes or atleast act like there car is ill handling example worn tires or bad setup. And there are framerate dips, broken audio during longer races and occasional screen tearing.
Upfront Eric it also hasn’t been fully released yet (i know it has for gold). Like any game, the devs will probably fix the screen tearing and stuff like that
Only nit picks I have is that the A.I still stick their nose into the corner, plus they always just take the better lines off of the turns. Most of the time the user slides up coming out of the corner and loses so much time. Meanwhile, the A.I can just old the bottom no problem and carry speed no matter what. I find this most notable at Texas, Chicagoland, Kentucky, and Michigan.
That was always the problem on heat 3. At Daytona it’s a bit narrow. And when 3 wide one tap, the middle driver ping pongs off the 2 outside and inside drivers and spins out
The thing I didn’t like about heat 3 was no sponsor change. Would have been cool to have different paint schemes and sponsors to change for differnt races
Chase for the Cup was one of the best for one reason... MODIFIEDS! Lol. The physics arent realistic, no, but you have to remember a lot of people get this game for their kids. Most everyone I know that got this game got it specifically for their kids. They tried to balance arcade and driving sim to suit everybody but it seems to tick off everybody. Just enjoy it for what it is. Fact is it will never be perfect due to EA's lackluster attitude towards fixing problems. It just copy, paste, release, repeat, year after year. They change minor things to keep folks hooked. And forget the paintbooth. It would make their paint scheme DLCs totally redundant and take money out of their pocket which EA will NOT allow. Testing would be nice. Should be an easy inclusion. I mean N64 NASCAR racing games had it. What's the deal EA? And yes I blame EA not 704 for the game's shortcomings because they put so many restrictions on their developers companies and micromanage so much trying to keep costs down and profitability up. As long as EA owns the NASCAR lisence we'll never get the game we deserve... you know... Dirt to Daytona 2!
@@Supersonicspyro thanks for correcting me. Dang. All this time I thought EA published it. Regardless, they're using microtransactions and other EA tactics to make money without producing a lot. Vehicle skins is a poor DLC. Definately not worth what theure asking for it. DLC should be new tracks and cars at least. And they're basically copy and pasting releasing the same game every year with a little polish. The dirt cars actually had fewer tracks than Heat 3. That was a big let down. Anyway, I stand corrected. Thank you
@@Supersonicspyro theyre selling liveries instead of giving us any enjoyable content. And theres no real "paint booth" in game like forza or gran turismo sport. Literally the only dlc they offer is paint schemes for the top three classes. Dirt doesnt really get any dlc that I've seen. Yea you can customize your car to some degree but the fact they dont have the paint editor like most other ganes and instead sell you fixed liveries for the real cars is kind of a cheap move because it takes minimal effort on their part and it's usually. But people will buy it so...
Hmm! Yes I enjoyed the review so I can't comment on the play because I just purchased my copy. But I've enjoyed playing the previous versions. I'm excited to get into this version. nascar 4 👍
I had Heat 3 and have been playing Heat 4 a few days now... It's definitely better. But is it actually possible to turn off the guided driving line during race weekend practice sessions? I never worked out how to do it in Heat 3. I find it really annoying as I'd prefer to just do the practice session and tweak my car setup without having stupid green and red arrows all over the track!!! :-/
I don’t have where you can race at any track in all three series, I don’t have day to night unless they need to be full races. I don’t have all the car numbers
