They likely saved Wendell Scott's life that night the fans would have killed him. IMO it was a good choice Sad that we had racism but thank goodness he got out and paid(albeit a bit late)
I believe Lefty is an NR2003 painter that has designed cars for cup teams, including the Ally 48. Jeff Burton's win at New Hampshire was also with restrictor plates, because of Adam Patty's death at the track.
I’ll always remember that Digger appeared in Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Squeakquel. Even as a kid that loved Digger and legitimately thought that the live action Chipmunks movies were good, the first thought I remember having was, “Did I just see that?”. And thinking about it now, it makes even less sense.
8:51 Carl Long bought the engine from Ernie Elliott, who had built the engine initially for Ganassi Racing. It was all an honest mistake. Carl had enough faith in Ernie that he wouldn’t have intentionally sold him a slightly oversized engine. The real bad guys here were NASCAR, of course. Everyone knew Long’s team was just small time and there was no way they could pay $200,000 worth of fines and continue operating. Compare this to Richard Petty having a comically oversized engine in ‘84, yet all he was fined was the race prize money and points (the win stood cause King Richard).
That was a used engine ok Carl bought it had miles on it. Crazy rumor I heard if NASCAR measured the pistons not the bore the piston diameter x stroke it might of past
This is the first RU-vid channel i've seen that even hints at Dale Jr Daytona race being rigged so thank you. My brother in law was a fabricator on the Jeff Gordon rainbow warriors team and swears there was shenanigans going on in their pit. NASCAR used to come around with a cardboard box handing out the restrictor plates for teams to install themselves, and seems they had a plate with slightly larger holes to give him an extra 10-20 hp. Its my belief they are doing the same thing with the tapered spacer plate giving Bubba Wallace an advantage ever since the "noose" event. Please look into all the plate races just before and up til recent with him. It is my contention that they screwed up by giving him the larger plate and not factoring in the extra use of fuel with extra horsepower and the long green flag at the end of the "noose race" causing Bubba to run out of gas (NASCAR desperately wanted him to win). He then subsequently won the next years Talladega race and has had a car that could drive to the front with zero help in almost every superspeedway track, and I can't confirm which superspeedway race he was sent to the back but I watched him drive from 43rd to 1st in 10 laps at the beginning of the race which is basically impossible with that generation of race car. Cheers..! ✌🏽
@reluctantprophet fucking speaking the truth would anybody be shocked??? Including the first black winner would be huge for NASCAR let's call it what it is, DEI and it's literally fucking going down the line even to nascar
Kevin Ward incident with Tony Stewart hits close to home as the track is I shit you not, 10 minutes away from my home. Of course, the parents think their son was innocent in all of this. Toxicology reports came out he was higher than a kite behind the wheel, no reason to even be driving, but they let the kid anyway. He got out in a dark area on the track when he was hit, more or less raging under the influence. Unintentional and more or less unavoidable. His parents seem like they're just trying to get $$$ rather than accept their son's idiocy led to his downfall these days though.
know tony personally and also know the ward family...tough position to be put into but tony is a really good guy. i'll try to keep this short but one year he gave me hot passes to the glen. mind you under rain delay i try to get Kyle busch's attention but he kept walking. a few seconds later my mom gets my attn and he's standing there...i have ADHD, cerebral palsy, and autism...anyways i hesitate for a second and Kyle says "come on man! hurry up i've got shit to do!" after tony found out (no we didn't tell him) the 20 crew surrounded kyle and tony backhanded him. it should also be noted that i know tony through a children's charity organization
My brother in law used to work with David Stremme when he was an up and coming late model driver in the 90’s in Indiana. He kept up with a few of the NASCAR guys that he’d met over the years. He knew Tony Stewart from making the rounds back then and said he’s about as normal and good of a guy as you could be for someone like him. He also said that Kyle Busch (and Kurt too) were really good guys as long as they weren’t at the track. Now, I’m 3rd and 4th party to these stories so take them how you will, but try not to judge these guys too harshly based on a bad experience. They spend nearly all year away from their families and then have tons of distractions at the exact time that they’re trying to focus on making a living with their performance. I met Ryan Hunter-Reay through a mutual friend at a BBQ restaurant on a Saturday night before an Indy race here in Alabama and he was a really nice guy. We talked for about 10 minutes and he kept asking me questions about myself. Almost like he was trying to get an idea of what life was like being normal. I got VIP passes to the race the next day and the guy barely acknowledged my existence. If I’d have only met him on race day, I’d have said he was an asshole who dismisses his fans. Fortunately, I met him the day before and I can say that he’s nothing like that. You may have had a negative experience with Kyle Busch, but he is also the same guy who set up a foundation and has given millions to people who cannot have children on their own.
Man he had a little weed in his system , anyone not in love with Tony stewart can see and hear he rev the car up when he got close going a little sideways hitting the guy , not saying he ment to hit him but he atleast tried to scare him .A big time driver like Stewart shouldn't be out with weekend warriors anyway
BK Racing was never sponsored by Burger King Corporate. The Burger King deal came from team owner Ron Devine's BK franchises, this is also the reason for the name of the team.
NASCAR has a loud minority of fans who are extremely reactionary and will hate anything new just because it’s new. Causing them to do things like not watch because of a cartoon gopher.
I like Kyle Busch BUT that incident with Hornaday cost Ron a shot at that years championship, he shoulda been suspended for a few race weekends across the board not just one weekend...
Digger, The Quick Version: When NASCAR installed cameras inside of the tracks themselves, Fox originally called them "gopher-cams" with a non-CGI drawing of a gopher. Somebody came up with the idea of naming the gopher "Digger" and developing a series of shorts called "Digger and Friends." The problem is, there were only five of them, and one aired only once, so the same ones were shown over and over again. While the shorts were pulled after one season (and note that only Fox aired them), the characters hung around for at least one more season. I don't think Digger had that many fans in the booth, either; a few years later, when a car ran over the spot where a camera was located, somebody (I think DW) asked if Digger was OK, to which the main commentator quipped, "Digger's retired."
It was most likely the diamond grinding on the track. What also killed the 05 USA GP. They did this to crating a smoother track, and to also attempt the create better racing. But the side effect was it chews tires, as it makes grooves in the pavement. It is the fist time NASCAR went with the COT. So Goodyear, used to the 4th Gen car. Didn’t get hard enough tires for the loads. Like what Michieln Did in ‘05 But NASCARS “05 event” is probably the 69’ (nice) Alabama 500.
I highly agree on the Digger one, like whats the point of trying to kinda make it more kid friendly when older audiences are not gonna like it whatsoever, it just does not work
3: 30, Dick Trickle was never considered one of the best short track racers, he was known to be the #1 most successful short track racers of all time. He took his own life because of years of suffering from very severe pains in different places in his body which the medicine industry could not heal.
Didn’t know that Eric McClure died. Damn that breaks my heart. Always liked watching him and his Hefty cars. Can’t believe Jon Wes did that. I feel bad for his ex. I hear she was accidentally shot by her current boyfriend and killed in the confusion. Poor thing.
12:36 using the term “bad public outcry” to describe something that the newspapers and news media tries to whip up support against, while most NASCAR fans wouldn’t care about is stupid.
Weird show cars. Go check out the car that sits in the parking lot to talladega’s only gas station. It has been sitting there since the mid 90’s it was originally a rusty Wallace #2. Then it got changed to sterling’s #40, then got changed to brad K’s #2. Idk what is painted now or if it’s still the same gen 3 or 4 car.
The kid that was hit by Stewart had enough THC in his system to declare him legally 'high'. He exited his car in a dark spot of the track with poor lighting while wearing a black fire suit to confront Stewart. Its clearly Ward's fault... his parents just wanted to get rich off the situation.
If he didn't Tony Stewart should have sued his parents for defamation...almost any time Tony Stewart gets brought up some DARF jumps in typing "murderer"
The owner of BK racing owned a Burger King franchise. The actual direct "Burger King" never had a sponsorship deal with them. The team owner basically just slapped on the Burger King decal because he owned one.
Can you call Shane Hmiel a bust? Guy went on to win the 4 most iconic USAC races. It’s not like his talent wasn’t there just had things that “chased” him
Had he not gotten badly injured he was gonna eventually switch to IndyCar or at least attempt the Indy 500, wish he could've done it would have been a great redemption story, especially if he became successful after NASCAR blacklisted him.
Technically for #lettimmyrace Brad Keselowski already wasn’t going to race due to scheduling errors instead it was Austin Cindric after getting permission gave up his seat for Timmy Hill
About Eric McClure: That 2012 crash at Talladega most certainly was the main contributor to his death, but between that crash & other crashes, injuries, & illnesses he had suffered throughout his entire career (& there were a lot, & I mean a *LOT),* it's tragically likely that he also suffered from CTE. How his death happened is still unclear, but to me his death was 1 of 2 things: Either his body shut down in his sleep & only he knew it would, or the pain he suffered from throughout his entire body coupled with CTE clouded his already damaged mind so badly he took his own life.
@@KellieLeigh48 I know that he has had kidney problems from as far back as 2013 (Hospitalization for Acute Renal Failure), but the fact that he was found at his home & was at his fiancee's home playing with her daughter literally the night before hours before he died tells me there is much more to the story. I feel like if it was directly kidney failure, he would have been in a hospital instead of being found at his home. I can buy it being a contributor, but not the primary cause.
Wasn't "Digger" a tribute to the groundhog that got hit at Pocono? Or, at least the inspiration for the camera itself? I could be entirely wrong, but I seem to remember the two being linked in some way.. I always wondered when and why Nascar got so interested in lightning near the track. Unfortunate that it happened, but kudos to Nascar for being overly cautious to prevent it from happening again.
For darkest darkest, you should cover Jason Jacoby, once a iRacing streamer to becoming one of the WORST RU-vidrs and human beings that ever exist on the platform.
I’m gonna list all of the 49 (which there is only 48?) I jus won at Indianapolis leading 160 out of 160 laps on NR2003. Surprisingly the race was 2:30:00 without a single caution. I am proud of that because it's my rookie season and I have 10 DNF's but somehow have 1200 laps led and only 4 wins.
I don’t say this to defend Danica, but her first attempt to qualify (and made) the Daytona 500 was in 2012. I always hear everyone say 2013 was the first and cause this conspiracy to start. I don’t knock that was the first case to start the conspiracy but the fact is it was not her first attempt, it was her second but first full time season 🤷🏻♂️
I remember watching that Talladega Busch race live when LePage pulled in front of the field coming off pit road, I honestly thought he did it on purpose cause like HOW could he not have known the field was coming at that moment??
About the 2003 Ford 200: Ted Musgrave, Travis Kvapil, & Brendan Gaughan all entered extra trucks. So that argument is nulled. In addition, contrary to popular belief, Tyler Walker & Marty Houston both slid in oil on the track, which resulted in Tyler hitting the wall & Marty spinning out the following lap.
I mean that this is just speculation, but I am 110% sure that had the DC Solar ponzi scheme never happened, Chip Ganassi would've never sold his NASCAR teams to Trackhouse Racing...
If I had to guess, the Lefty entry has to do with the Jimmie Johnson Pride scheme that he created, which led to idiots harassing him online for it for no damn reason, which led to things that I won't specify in this comment (basically, if you know, you know) but they weren't good. Luckily, Lefty is still with us, he's still making awesome paint schemes, even having some ran in NASCAR itself, with one being ran by Jimmie Johnson himself at Texas in 2020 (you know, the race that WOULDN'T FUCKING END). What sucks is that he still gets harassed, whether it be people still shitting on him for the Pride scheme, or basically shitting on him for no reason. He's a great dude who has been through a lot, but he has a lot of support behind him in the community.
The popular assumption is Kyle Busch was suspended after 2011 Texas only because Ron Hornaday threatened to buy out a lower-level ride in Cup to retaliate against Busch.
