NASCAR Iiks a $7.7 billion TV deal. This deal looks to be a landmark deal for the the future of the sport, but that future is certainly in question. There will be more cable, more streaming, and a lot less free network TV that NASCAR fans live off of. While the money is nice, we look in depth at this deal and how it will change the sport forever. Will this help or hurt the fans???

It was never going to be on one service. No network wants all the races. Fox will do anything to keep the Daytona 500, but they would never take the fall races with how deep they are in with the NFL. That leaves CBS out too. NBC and ABC/ESPN were the only options for the fall because they only carry one NFL game per week.

@@tcjohnson3437 but at the same time, I doubt the diehards wanna pay for multiple services to see the races. Cause if you need 4-5 different platforms, that adds up. Most people can afford only 1 or 2 platforms. So for streaming services especially, needing 4 or 5 different ones on top of an ISP bill, that gets expensive over time. I'm on the fence. If all NBC/ USA races get simulcasted on Peacock (like they do for Indycar / IMSA), then I'm leaning on liking it. I agree with the video's sentiments that they needed to either do more of a status quo tv / cable deal or go heavier into streaming. If the NBC affiliated races get simulcasted on Peacock it then it becomes a better deal.
@S.K.R.E.Inc.
@S.K.R.E.Inc. 8 месяцев назад
Basically, Fox becomes more CRINGE and leaves us antenna viewers in the dust, TNT will ruin themselves for the 3RD TIME IN A ROW, and NBC may ace it if they have everything simulcasted on Peacock, because for us antenna viewers, this is degrading. Only 9 races we'll be able to watch, 19 if you have any streaming service (Prime, Hulu+HBO addon, Max, Peacock), this is just abysmal. Streaming has become the new cable with these price hikes

Even with these new network deals, you could turn on the Nascar network and watch the race broadcasted by Fox, TNT, NBC, etc. I get it, it takes a lot of money, but in the long run it would create so much content for Nascar and would give fans ONE place to turn to for all of their needs!

Coverage is confusing enough today, and now they're just making it worse. You made so many great points. I think one thing that people seem to dance around is the negative impact FOX's terrible coverage has on the sport overall. Long time NASCAR fan, but I don't watch races on FOX anymore. And when you don't watch the first half of the season, your interest wanes for the second half. Overall, NASCAR doesn't understand their issues or their fans, and is more concerned with short term profits than providing fans with a positive experience that will lead to long term success.

If Nascar hasn't been gaining new fans (the ones that are now exclusively on streaming platforms), then they'll simply have effectively no fans left when the older ones are gone. I know older fans may feel like they're being ignored, but the truth is, nascar has to prepare for when they're gone and this means they have ti cater to the younger generation instead. So in summary, not moving to streaming would be the most sure fire way to eventually kill of the sport.

Well I’m not American and I don’t find much value in prime streaming alone (also what I have access to watch is much different than the majority) and I’m not eligible for any of the shipping benefits since I live outside the Americas. I still get most of the US cable channels, except fs1 which has an international channel called fox racing.. which ironically doesn’t actually air any races. I do understand why they chose Amazon.. If streaming was so inevitable, then I think Prime was gonna be the best option. It's easily among the cheaper streamers (at least in 2023 anyway) likely because it's more than just Prime Video, and of course there is the free Twitch option. And TNT's return, along with the integration of HBO Max (or just Max, I guess) will certainly be an intriguing factor. That said, having 22 of the 36 races on cable going into the 2030s is absolutely ridiculous, at least from a fan's perspective. I actually think that putting a more significant stretch on streaming would have been way better. In an age in which cable is on death's door even with all the live TV streamers like Fubo and Hulu (which is what I use), going so cable-heavy could very well end up as one of the dumbest TV decisions in racing history. Also I know it was pretty predictable, but FS1 still keeping Trucks just feels like the nail in the coffin (Was honestly wondering if NBC would try it after losing Xfinity). Who would have guessed that the Xfinity Series, the series now on The CW of all channels, would be the one getting the best deal?
