Best track I've ever watched a Nascar race at. Great access to bathrooms and concessions. Also, the drive to the track from the small town was easy in and out. We need Rockingham back.
Hey Brett - Thanks for watching. I used to watch Rockingham races with my dad and we both just loved this track. While it was open, I never got to go there, so now going and seeing it in disrepair is sad. But they are slapping some make-up on this thing and fingers crossed it gets back on the schedule. Based on what I am hearing about Fontana, there won't be a track there for several years. I was just out at Fontana this weekend and have some great stuff to share. Stay tuned... thx...
I wasn't sure what I would find when I came back this time. My last visit was rather depressing. The track was in terrible shape. I am so glad I went back, the ground crew went to work and has made great progress. This track will be ready for the 2025 season. It would be a GREAT addition to the schedule. Let me know what you think. I will be going back again in a few months to see how its going. thx....

The memories of my younger days. I moved to Rockingham in the spring of 1987 on orders from the State of NC Attorney General. The memories of the drag races and the spring and summer races at the Rock brought what was normally a pit stop for beach bound travelers on US 74 to life. An avid lover of aircraft, I was fascinated the CAP operated a sort of tower operation on the drag strip for landing aircraft across the road from the speedway. In my late 60’s, the memories of my time there are still fresh in my mind. Rockingham is mostly avoided by most travelers taking the 74 By Pass and economically I know it has suffered. I hope to return for a NASCAR race before my own race is run. Prayers for the people of Richmond County and all involved in bringing racing back there!
Hey Stephen - The Rock was my Dad's favorite track and I used to just love watching races there as a kid. I am heading back out there next month, so I will bring an update on the upgrades. I am hoping this track gets back on the schedule, maybe to replace Auto Club. thx...

North Carolina has made a substantial financial commitment to this site, so we can only hope Nascar is smart enough to bring it back. With Fontana out for at least 2 years, this would be a great substitute. I will keep following the progress on this track, so stay tuned. thx....
Hey David - Thanks for watching. They seem to be focused on taking down the grandstands and "Cleaning" the facility at this point. The infield is cleaner, but not resurfaced in any way. There is also what looks like a 1/4 mile track right behind the speedway which has been cleaned but not surfaced. I think they were focusing the majority of effort to get the Drag Strip open (which they did) and should now shift to full effort on the track. With Fontana out, this should be a no brainer bringing this track back. Speaking of Fontana, I was just there a couple days ago and full demo is underway. Video to follow along with my unexpected feelings about seeing it turned into a parking lot. Stay tuned thx...
Hey Donnie - Thanks for watching... I agree 100% Now that Fontana is gone, Rockingham should get some love. They are obviously fixing up the facility in hopes of landing a race, so I will keep following this track to see if the upgrade pace picks up. Hey CR - I am heading out to Fontana next week and then off to Rockingham en-route to Wilkesboro. Weather in Fontana looks good for the first time in months. Warm, dry and low wind, so I hope to get some good stuff. Also looking forward to see the progress on Rockingham.
