This kept popping up into my recommendations, so I was like "Alright! Fine! I'll watch it." But this is actually really well done. The 2022 season was just a cavalcade of bafflingly bad decisions that stretched on and on for 36 weeks. So long that we just became numb to it and forgot how bad it was.

How certain are you that it's not a symptom of a super speedway problem? AJ Foyt 'using restrictor plates is like putting blinders on a race horse' circa 71'. My comments get censored for pointing out the obvious, yet the 95' D500 is a prime example. All cars were impounded after qualifying and smaller restrictor plate was were installed to race. This increased Hg", faster speeds and more problems.

Between 2021's "unique" calls in F1, the WEC and DTM and 2022's NASCAR's season (and IndyCar apparently had some weird ones too), I have to say following motorsports can be exhausting at times from how things are relegated and enforced. However, you're right in saying that next year is what matters and I hope next year will be a lot more positive for NASCAR and every other motorsport as well. Nice vid man! Also that second Texas race was pure agony. I seriously hope it's removed from the 2024 schedule and onwards unless they can fix it...if that's even possible.

"That" call in 2021 F1 was some proper jank.
@dragance9995
@dragance9995 2 месяца назад
@@OskarasNauseda It definitely wasn't the only one but it was BY FAR the most controversial: Abu Dhabi 2021. Context: going into the final race of the season, Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton were tied on points. Max took pole but Lewis took the lead on lap 1 (which was also a bit controversial, as when Max repassed him Lewis just cut the whole damn corner without a penalty or even being forced to give back the position, also Lewis should have been starting 12th and not 2nd, but moving on). Lewis led for most of the race thereafter and was set to win the race and the championship. However, on lap 53/58, Nicholas Latifi crashed and brought out the safety car. As it took a while to clean up, people thought the race wouldn't restart. And by lap 57 the race still wasn't restarted, and at this point even if you wanted to restart, you needed to wait for the lapped cars to unlap themselves all the way, and there was no time for that. The race director, Micheal Masi, ordered only the lapped cars between Max and Lewis to start unlapping and restarted it anyway before they could even have a chance to unlap completely. And since Max pitted under the safety car and Lewis didn't, Max had a MASSIVE tire advantage, overtook Lewis, won the race and the championship.
@duffman18
@duffman18 Месяц назад
@@dragance9995 and Masi was eventually fired for that decision, yet Max still gets to keep his championship. Now I'm just hoping that Ferrari can get their shit together and give Hamilton an 8th championship to cement himself as the greatest of all time.

@barneyward6448

To be fair, he never said he was done racing entirely, just that he was stepping away from doing a whole season, as we could still see him doing part-time races this year as long as he's cleared by his doctors. But I do agree that we could have seen him fight for the title again. It is sad that got cut short for him, and all those hard hits he had taken previously in 2022 didn't help either.

This video makes Brian Barnhart (former IndyCar Race Director) blush and rather join NASCAR instead of IndyCar. In all seriousness, the current state of NASCAR in the past god knows how long regardless is just painful to watch due to horrible officiation and other terrible reasons. I’m glad I’ve been watching less NASCAR races since Fall 2019. All I can say is that The Split is the last thing NASCAR needs and they better pray so hard to NOT have a Split. If so, I wonder if the “potential new stock car series” will have better officiation if it ever happens.

@DreamstoRealityAutomotiveTV
In the past I’ve seen races where jimmy Johnson got sideway and maybe lost a spot or 2…..caution, not hitting the wall, not another car, no debris, nothing. I’ve seen 30th plus place drivers slam a wall roll back into the pitlane and nothing. In nascar it matters who you are or who your owner is. I wish nascar was an actual racing series like it used to be when men built cars and racer them. But in racing overall, that’s pretty dead. Everything is shelf built
@theKashConnoisseur
@theKashConnoisseur 17 дней назад
Motorsports is at it's best when it's teams trying to build and race the best and fastest cars possible. But I guess it's hard to market a team, and easier to market just the driver. So now motorsports is largely about which driver can become the best at driving the carbon copy cookie cutter cars. This is why I mostly watch drag racing these days.
@DreamstoRealityAutomotiveTV
@DreamstoRealityAutomotiveTV 17 дней назад
@@theKashConnoisseur drag racing is a totally different racing product, it’s more machine against machine, obviously drivers play a role but there isnt any three wide slide jobs into a corner. I don’t know much about drag racing but I’m sure there’s a rule book that makes it another cookie cutter series, how much of what the teams use is bought? Honestly the days of building race cars to beat your opponent is absolutely dead
@theKashConnoisseur
@theKashConnoisseur 17 дней назад
@@DreamstoRealityAutomotiveTV It can seem like machine on machine, but the teams of mechanics and the skills of the drivers play an equal role to the raw performance of the cars. When you have races that last less than 4 seconds, even thousandths of a seconds difference in reaction time can decide who wins and who doesn't. And of course, the engines basically self destruct with every pass and require a near-complete rebuild between races, so the team behind the car plays a crucial role in whether they get to the starting line or retire in the pit lane. As far as homologation goes, in certain divisions they are trying to make things more same-same. But there's also plenty of races where hand-built drag cars just get sorted according to certain categories (big tire, small tire, turbo/NA/nitrous, etc etc etc). As far as how much is bought vs built, nobody is making their own turbos at home. But there's plenty of shop-built chassis running heavily modified, purpose built, one-off race engines.

I think the issue with nascar officiating is the fact it has always prioritized entertainment, headlines and great stories over consistent rules. And while of course not all bad calls are based on that, it leads to a poor work ethic where officials are not trained to make good calls under stress. Comparing it to a factory: if there is one guy at work ho does a shit job, he might be the problem. If all of them do a shit job, its the managements fault. If you have a history of changing rules per customer, you cant expect your teams to deliver consistent quality.
