I remember my parents got me this game for my birthday but let me open it a day early. I would always sit on the main menu screen to listen to Diary of Jane because I loved the song so much
I'm still confused why *Elliot Sadler of all people was even decided for the cover driver...* I mean its not like he's the most promotable guy out there lol
It may be hard to believe, since he quietly moved back to the Nationwide/Xfinity series, but throughout his entire cup career, he was a top 10 most popular driver. There was just something about Elliott that people loved him. He branded himself well. Was bizarre to me too. Not that I had a problem with him. He was also on the cover for the 09 game, although it probably had more to do with Best Buy being his sponsor more than anything.
@@ashketchumsdad Whoever drives the M&Ms car is usually a fan favorite. Especially with the kids. Regardless of his on track performance I think it was pretty smart to make him the cover driver.
@@cehamlet89 He went from the best, if not, one of the best NFL teams of all time to the worst, if not, one of the worst NFL teams of all time. Even if the New York Jets won Super Bowl III, they suck. They always disappoints. I'm a fan of them because my mom bought me a New York Jets beanie in my early teenage years, but I just want them to disappear because they are useless.
@@ziy.z0 Guess what, my mom also bought a New York Giants beanie but gave it to my brother who's not open-minded about sports. She made a huge mistake. BTW, my mom makes tons of mistakes.
He and Harvick should have switched game covers. Sadler should have been on the cover for NASCAR 2005: Chase for the Cup and Harvick should have been on the cover for NASCAR 07. Harvick had a quite good season in 2006. He won the Xfinity (Nationwide at the time) championship and would have won the 2006 Sprint Cup (Nextel Cup at the time) championship if NASCAR used the same format since 2017.
@@TheDarkEternalKnight07 I wasn't disappointed that day. I wanted both to win the championship but we all know that only one can win. I wanted Carl Edwards or Jimmie Johnson to win the championship. When Carl Edwards crashed with 10 laps to go, then I wanted Jimmie Johnson to win and that's exactly what happened. I was extremely happy to see my favorite driver winning a 7th championship. Jimmie Johnson was my favorite driver when I was a kid and I don't regret at all choosing him as my favorite driver because he never disappointed me. 😉
If EA wanted Elliot Sadler to be in their cover so badly, they should’ve done that 2 years earlier with Chase for the cup in 2004. (Fun fact: EA actually decided to have Jeremy Mayfield on the cover of Nascar 2005, however, EA changed their mind and went with Kevin Harvick, which actually made Jeremy upset.)
I always assumed this was a back office deal between EA Sports and Mars Candy we started too see a lot of candy sponsors pop up in Madden the next handful of years
NASCAR 07 was the very first racing game I ever had. I was already somewhat familiar with the big names of the sport like Gordon, Johnson, and Stewart, so I was like "who's this guy?" Lol this game is also the reason Breaking Benjamin is now my favorite band.
@@IanTheMotorsportsMan_YT Yes lol. Also, seeing as how you were young enough to remember Nascar 07. Please tell me you remember Nascar Rumble? Its easily the best Nascar/racing game ever 😍
EA had the same situation with Brett favre in madden 09. At least the PS3/Xbox 360 versions had auto roster updates and a printable new cover. If this situation happened nowadays it wouldn’t be that big of a deal.
Pepto Bismol is missing a HUGE opportunity by not asking Breaking Benjamin if they can make a "Diarrhea Jane" commercial. *Woman clinches stomach, leaves her cubicle and heads to the bathroom* (Nasty djent breakdown starts) "Ready to find your place? Start by NOT being in the bathroom all day. Try Pepto Ultra Coat!" *Woman smiles as she swigs Pepto* "NOBODY wants to be Diarrhea Jane"
Niel dying was definitely a tragedy, and he definitely died too soon for a human life expectancy. But he was also pretty much retired outside of the 6 (or was it 7) races he was set to races in 1994. I feel from a career perspective Gone too soon definitely hits more painfully with Adam Petty because he was 19 (and fun fact the first 4th generation professional athlete in American history), along with both Clifford (27) and Davey Allison (32). Im not trying to say Neil dying wasn't awful, it certainly was. Im just referring to the longevity of their careers and them dying much Younger/sooner into their respective careers is a bit more heartbreaking because of the talent that was cut short ya'know? Neil was at the end of his career (at 47), had won titles and was one of the greatest racers in Nascar history, and his loss was a tragedy. But Davey, Clifford and *especially* Adam were all at the beginning of their careers when they died, and we were deprived of them reaching their full potential and talent. At least with Neil, we got to see how phenomenal he truly was while we will forever be left wondering just how good Adam, Clifford and Davey would be. We got a hint of Davey's incredible talent, skill and toughness in 1991 and 1992, but we never got that chance with Adam or Clifford which is why *career* wise, i feel their deaths were a little teeny tiny bit more "tragic". You understand? No disrespect whatsoever to anyone. But if *I* was a professional racer, and I *HAD* to die in a wreck, I'd rather be at the very end/near the end of my career after all my accomplishments/dreams have been realized like a Neil Bonnet or a Dale Earnhardt. Rest in peace to every professional Autoracing driver across all forms of autoracing, your deaths are not forgotten and your impact on the sport culture of autoracing will forever be safer for the losses you all painfully made, and the hole you leave in the hearts of your closest loved ones. Your accidents have made racing around the world safer so you never raced, or died in vain. All legends deserve their championship, even if they have to get it in the afterlife 🥺. Thank you racers, for shaping the sport i love so much.
I am now far more glad that Chase Elliott conquered the curse last year and that a new NASCAR game isn’t releasing this year so nobody would be on it... for now at least.
@@LEGO_NASCAR There's actually not. I didn't originally plan to buy Nascar Heat 5 because it was already several months old and i had assumed Heat 6 (or whatever squeal) would be out soonish. However after looking into when the next game is being released, i found an article talking about how 707 Games is rebuilding the entire game engine from the ground up and thus wont be releasing another game in 2021 for Nascar. Unless a different company is making different type of Nascar game there isnt one coming out soon, which is why i actually got Heat 5 lol.
I’ve been saying this forever! ALL NASCAR GAMES SHOULD COME OUT BEFORE CHRISTMAS!! Then you could still sell a lot during the Christmas rush plus the BIG THING almost all paint schemes are out and announced for the upcoming season including the driver changes!
I think you missed the biggest reason they chose him. He had selling power. Many, including myself, bought this game because he was on the cover. Even though he didn't have stats that set the world on fire, he was very popular with the fans. Why put a successful driver on the cover that no one likes when you can put a fan favorite?
This just reminds me of how delightful Sadler was/is as a human being, and how he never really got a decent chance in Cup. Yates was already in a steep decline when he got there.
Johnson, Stewart, or Edwards should’ve been on the cover and Johnson probably would’ve been the first and only driver to not get the curse considering the season he had.
Elliott Sadler in NASCAR 07 was so weird in hindsight. And this wasn't a PS3/Xbox 360 game... so EA couldn't release a patch that would move Sadler to the 19 and put David Gilliland in the 38.
He’s just mirror drivin’, all over the race track. Uh oh Oh trouble, Elliot Sadler over once and a half and on his roof! Now the car tumbling hard on the pavement in turn 3, caution is out.
N2K3. The games are much better on a computer. Elliott did well in Nationwide/Busch etc. I wished RYR was still here instead of just Doug Yates motors. So weird that M&M went from Ford, to Toyota and a good southern racer to a California kid. Sadler just needed more time...kinda like Truex Jr. who was sucky for his first years from 2007 until like 2014. And Sadler was drinking hard at the time, according to certain inside sources that have to remain unnamed.
Damn, Elliott Sadler's cover curse was even predated Anthony Davis' cover of NBA 2K20 (when he was traded to the Lakers before it was released), at least the NBA 2K20 cover art learned from that similar situation by putting out a generic jersey.
I remember when they yanked the Yates 38 m and m car from in front of the Sadler truck stop in emporia Virginia. That quick! The week of the Glen, I run down the 95 and it’s there. I think it was Michigan the week after? It was gone.
