Born and raised in Karachi, Dr.Zeeshan received his schooling from BVS, a Parsi School in Karachi, then proceeded to attend Commerce College, securing first position in the whole of Karachi, at Sindh level. He went on to IBA, and then MBA in 1995. He spent 2 years as an HR, Accounting and Financial consultant. Then he completed his CFA, and upon pursuance from his dean, went on to do phD in his academics. Therefore, gaining a full scholarship and stipend to the US, he completed his phD in Accounting and Finance, and since his entire family consisted of intellectual chartered accountants, they pushed him to also get enrolled and do CPA, which he successfully achieved. It was due to his aunt in 1998 that he gained the courage to pursue what he wanted, breaking the toxic chains of society and their expectations. His father was a Director of Finance and CFO at Pzifer.
Running on the tracks side by side, he joined the local madrassa and pursued his religious studies while studying in LUMS. Completing his Dars-e-Nizami in Karachi, he went on to do Daura-e-Hadith as well from there. He gives much of the credit to his mother who had instilled religious cultural values within the household he grew up in, teaching and exercising the basics of deen. His teenager years were a bit carefree, grabbing attention from his beloved mother, who had to tighten the ropes a bit and hence, she became the major turning point for him, dedicating more of his time to the deen of Allah. He started reading the Quran with translation and tafseer at the age of 16, and started practicing deen with increased interest, to be met with no resistance from family. In 2007, he started teaching Islamic Finance Economics in LUMS.
