Do you think the 2lb sawn off would be any good for ledgering for perch or would it be to stiff?

looks awesome!!!! I'm looking at getting a set of three of these for my Carp fishing setup. I lyrically on fish small park lake waters. would you consider these for that or would you think ill be better off with my 9fts? whats the biggest fish you've played on these? Thanks
@TheFishingBloggers
@TheFishingBloggers 8 лет назад
+Komplete Carp I use them on water where i know I'm only needing to fish up to 50 yards max. I have fished further than this but only on occasions. It's more the enjoyment from using a short rod, it's so much more fun! I've caught fish up to mid 20's so far! I wouldn't like to advise you, it's all down to the style, range and tactics you use on these park lakes...only you know what is required from your own fishing! I've been carping for 20+ years now and it's put another level of enjoyment into my fishing, to top that it's also so much easier to stay mobile - which is my approach! They also double up as awesome lure/jig rods!!!!!!

I've just got an sonik 6ft 3lb extractor and it's an awesome bit of kit tbf, I'm only using it for stalking ovs but yea it's a great, and I've got a pair of sonik extractor 9ft 3lb and the reels I'm a bit sketchy about? When winding in my spool wobbles and it doesn't feel good, it's as if there's something loose but I've had them both in bits and it's got to be something they all just must do tbh, I'm a bit stuck about what reels to get to go with all 3 extractors

I use the Prologic Element 6000 baitrunners on my 10ft rods now, they are perfect for smaller venues.

Hi, good review! Just wondering, how would you say the cork handles deal with everyday use, dirt etc... are they ok to clean and does the cork slip or chip at all??
@TheFishingBloggers
@TheFishingBloggers 7 лет назад
MJAngling I've not had any issues with the cork. I do look after my kit though - always keep them in the rod bags. If they get wet I open up the rod bag and air them out so the cork doesn't soak up the water - think it's down to how Much you look after your kit as to how long it lasts. The only issue with the scope rods is that grit can get caught in the butt section - which if not wiped down can scratch the blank!

Thinking about getting something like this or the balck ops sawn off, what do you think. How does it feel playing fish? How big a lead you feel confident casting? How far can you cast? Sox footnsawn off seem a great idea and would love to have but dont want to fork out so much monwy if not worth the pros cons ?
@TheFishingBloggers
@TheFishingBloggers 7 лет назад
Kevin Bayliss I don't like to advised other what to use, it should be entirely your own choice. I have found the rods to be a joy to play fish on, it puts the 'fun' back into fishing. There's a huge 'fad' with big rods and reels - the sawn off steps away from this and puts the fun back into the sport. If you need to fish at range, then these are not the rod for you. They are designed for staying mobile and moving to fish, not casting at them! In the right conditions with balanced line, then I have hit 70yd. I have used leads up to 5oz when fishing short range. Casting I have only had to use a 3oz Max so far - the rod handles these easy!! I can't comment on the black ops range as I don't use them, but they are a stepped up version on the original. Hope this helps, anymore questions- ask away!!

Union Pacific tbh. Had a few breakages with these rods. Tip sections are not great. Look the part but not reliable enough for me. Bought some sonik xtractors in same size and tc and theyve been bombproof. Had river carp to 27lb

Hi mate seen many of your reviews and made good purchases based on them like my beloved recon brolly. I only fish canals and a tidal river. I’m looking at downsizing and do fancy the 6footers. There are carp to mid 30s max where I fish. Do you think these would cope in my kind of venue and fish size?? Cheers bud keep up the good reviews
@TheFishingBloggers
@TheFishingBloggers 6 лет назад
Justin Steel Glad they’ve been helpful. I’ve had fish up to upper 20’s on the sawn offs. The 3lb sawn-offs are powerful little rods, easily tame most carp if fishing under 50yds. Don’t worry about the size of the fish, if the tackles all balanced then you’ll have no problems. Tight Lines 🎣

Me again sorry. I’ve bought a 2lb sawn off and have now decided to go for a second and ditch one of my 12ft rods. Problem is I can’t decide whether to get a second 2lber or go for the 3lb for a bit of a change up. Do you know if there is a vast amount of difference bearing in mind I will mostly be fishing small to medium venues with fish going up to 30lb? Thanks again dude.
@TheFishingBloggers
@TheFishingBloggers 6 лет назад
Andy H I’m not sure to be honest, I’ve not used the 2lb sawn off. The 3lb sawn off it’s a powerful little rod, I’ve cast solid bags with 4oz leads inside to 60yd. The 3lb is definitely the best all round option

@TheFishingBloggers
@TheFishingBloggers 8 лет назад
+Michael Smith Hi mate, Thanks for watching the video. I believe you mean you'll be using it for ledgering? I own three of the sawn-off scopes in 3lb test curve. I use them as a multiple rod setup while carping (in a normal carping situation - with alarms) and I use them for stalking if I need too. I have also used them as lure rods when piking as the short length works well with jig-baits and shads. I wouldn't recommend using the 3lb tc rod's for ledgering as they would not have the tip sensitivity needed for the job, but the 2lb tc rods might work well for this....this is only speculatively speaking though as I have not used the 2lb tc version (yet). Yes I do still use these rod's, all the time on small venues.....I love them as they add more fun to my fishing!!! Hope this answers your question! Tight Lines.

Hi - would the rod pouch be able to house a normal carp reel or are they for small reels onlyl? The skins on the 9ft and 10ft rods dont really fit carp reels in and are a big mistake from Nash.
@TheFishingBloggers

Stephen Young you need to buy the ‘big pit’ rods sleeves, they will fit then 👍🏼

@TheFishingBloggers
@TheFishingBloggers 6 лет назад
Stephen Young You’re right mate. Sorry, I’ve had an influx of questions this morning and I’m confusing myself. The sawn-offs are designed to be compact with small reels. I have Shimano Exage 4000 on mine, which are the perfect size. Anything bigger than a medium bait runner and it won’t fit in the rod sleeves.

I am sorry but I am not that familiar with carp fishing - how do you fish a reel with no baitrunner and still be able to do other things like sleep(as you mentioned in the video), without getting your rod/reel pulled into the lake by a carp?
@TheFishingBloggers
@TheFishingBloggers 8 лет назад
Hi, I loosen the drag on the reel so when I get a bite it allows the fish to take line, no different to when playing a fish with the drag. If night fishing I use a bite alarm which emits a sound which alerts me to a bite. When fishing shorter sessions, I lay the rods in the ground and place a stone on the spool for a visual indicator...it flys off when a bite occurs.
@lewishd1234

What is the action like as I am considering buying one for stalking ?
@TheFishingBloggers
@TheFishingBloggers 8 лет назад
They have been designed for use as a fishing rod, not just a stalker rod. They have a lot of power in the butt section, I've put a 3oz lead 70 yards! The tip is forgiving under the rod tip, but stiffer than other short rods I've used...depends on situation u will be fishing, they also do a 2lbTC...hope this helps.
@lewishd1234
@lewishd1234 8 лет назад
+effortequalssuccess thank you for the reply, im gonna get the 2lb version as my dedicated stalking rod as I already use the 10ft scope rods 3lb and where I go fishing most often the swim that is best for stalking is best accessible through some trees and the 10ft rods are much to large and I have been using spinning rod and it is to light to cast a 2.5oz lead so I thought that an upgrade was in order thank you for the information.

@lewishd1234
@lewishd1234 8 лет назад
+effortequalssuccess would you recommend getting 2 or 3 of these a pose to just 1?
@TheFishingBloggers
@TheFishingBloggers 8 лет назад
+lewisHD123 depends on your fishing. Most of 2015 I used my little Swan offs as I was fishing Small venues - max maybe 10acres. I have different setups to suite different venues I fish, allows me to be more mobile. I enjoy the mobile/hunting style of fishing, not the 'camper' type! It all leads down to if u think u would use a set regularly to make it worth the cost of buying them....I bought one to start with and found it so much fun to use that I wanted a set so I could use them in more situations!
