I cherish the Nashville of my youth. It's no longer a town but a city. With that brings diversity and change. Some good, some bad. I still love this town. Lots to do, eat, see, and experience.
Nashville born raised. Watching Nashville changing is painful. Grew up as singing neighbors became celebrities. Nashville has several Universities. Parks boating / picnic areas. Etc., Therefore more to offer than hotchicken.
yes, as a native Nashvillian for more than 50 years I miss Nashville. The idea of Nashville is what people are visiting and moving into - Nashville is gone - it has been destroyed. We fleed just over a year ago and I couldn't be happier. The libs/dems have taken over and will soon turn Nashville into just another cesspool like so many other democratic/liberal cesspools. Sad but true
I would say one of the best museums that wasn’t listed is the National Museum of African American Music. If you’re not a country person like me, but want to learn about jazz, funk, rock, and R&B, this place is so great!
Thank u ❤ I want to appreciate everyone’s culture but I also wanted to see a lil of my own.. so I’m so happy u mentioned this because I’m thinking is there anything for me to do 😅🙈 again thank u ☺️
I live in the area, and I must add that those of us who attend church more than likely benefit from outstanding music there. The choirs, orchestras, praise bands are the best almost everywhere you could land.
The churches are everywhere. And you have be careful of the people who smile to your face and stab you in the back. Everyone’s a Christian but they don’t act like it once the facade wears away. I’ve only met 2 people here I’d consider a true Christian.
@@Superduper666 Thank you for mentioning this. I am a native Nashvillian who moved away some years ago. That is one thing I absolutely do not miss about Nashville, not even a teeny, tiny bit.
That is the gospel! All the church music here is amazing; wonderful musicians! It spoils you so much that visiting out-of-town relatives and attending their church is a shock.
As a native, I definitely recommend getting outside of Nashville during your stay. All the surrounding towns have their own history and great places to visit. Though even further out there are many great state and national parks, great rivers for canoeing/kayaking, and some amazing hiking trails are all over the state. Civil war battlefields and Native American sites can be found all around the state as well.
@@kecleonboi as a native. It's super hard for me to recommend anything to anyone because it's normal shit to me like going to stone door, fall creek falls, or Burgess falls isn't special I grew up here I've seen all the nature and civil war battlefields.. shits boring
@@Superduper666 I disagree, malcontent person. I've lived all over, including NYC (1980s), Tampa, San Antonio, Dallas, and LA county. ALL cities have negatives. Nashville has so many wonderful positives, plus beautiful, down home bonhomie.
Hi melonyligon 7727wanted to give you a shout out from capital records here on music row couldn't agree more on so many outher things to do outher than drinking down town, if you get cot they will burn your vacation to a chrisp, good luck tourists ,
As a Nashville raised person, omg the traffic is so annoying. But it’s mandatory to smile here. We smile and we have open friendly conversation with people. Keep Nashville nice 🥰
The food assembly hall is one of Nashville’s newer installments and I love it! I do a lot of work on Broadway and go there all the time to eat at one of their restaurants. They also have some cool shopping options at 5th and Broadway. I make videos on my channel about living in Nashville and this was nicely done!
I’ve lived in Davidson, Rutherford and Sumner county. Donelson, Smyrna, and Hendersonville to be exact. I liked living in Hendersonville the best, way more chill, basically no druggies/crimes, and more nature/less super populated.
@@andreaguess9718 it’s fine if you moved here. Just don’t try to change anything about it. Be it politics, restaurants, culture, etc. that’s what native nashvillians hate is when people move here then try to change it in to little LA/Chicago/NYC. Nashville is starting to lose what made Nashville so amazing.
I live very close to Nashville and go there all the time. My favorite hot chicken is the original... Princes hot chicken! I get it all the time and I would recommend it to anybody. Other favorite places to eat are Slim and Husky's (Pizza), Itz a Philly Thing (Philly Cheesesteaks), and Riddim n Spice (Jamaican) :-)
@@marquitamoore5974 Slim and Husky’s, Metro Diner, Johnathons, The boulevard, the alley on main (Murfreesboro) Hickory falls, legends, Karen’s kustards (Smyrna)
@marquita sims Kool Runnings (Jamaican food) in Lavergne is really good!. I would call ahead to make sure their actually open because they’re weird about their hours
Also DON’T think you need to get wasted when visiting all the bars! I can’t count how many people I see throwing up and passed out on the streets by 10:00. Take it slow and pace yourself
I went to Nashville when I got out of prison. I got so drunk I literally couldn't see straight. Puked out of the side of an Uber all the way back to the hotel. 10/10 would do it again
Born and raised in Nashville. Locals don’t have a favorite hot chicken spot because it’s only been famous for it for like a few years. It’s for tourists.
You're completely right. Hot Chicken may have been in Nashville for decades, but it was a small thing, mostly unnoticed. Suddenly everyone was talking about Nashville Hot Chicken, and most locals were like, "Huh? Maybe I should try some...?"
i’m a born and bred native who works downtown at the ryman. i love nashville and i think its the best city ever! i think this video is very well-done and i think everyone visiting should watch this before coming! great job of highlighting everything that makes this city great!
As a Canadian who is married to a Tennessean, we love Nashville! We live an hour south and drive up for special dinners and concerts. Been here 5 years and I love it. My fave city in the US by far and I've been to many. These tips n' tricks are on point. 😍
I was truly amazed at the amount of people that didn't stop for a funeral procession and was cutting it off. Born and raised in Nashville but I dread going there now😕
I was born and raised in East TN but visited family in Nashville all my life. The city was entirely different when I moved here two years ago. Unfortunately, a lot of neighborhoods have become gentrified due to the tourism and mass influx of people moving here. Overall, Nashville is a great city to visit, but please be respectful to its history and the people who made Nashville what it is at its core. Thanks for the video!
I don’t understand the narrative of gentrification. No one is forcing no one to sell their houses and no one is choosing someone to buy houses in the area. Black, White, Asians can buy houses in the newly developed areas. Expand your intellectual understanding and narrative in the “gentrification” thing.
@@createinmeacleanheartohgod6871 I live in Nashville and well... the housing is no longer really affordable, then old buildings and some land owners are selling their building under the buissnes owners.
Also in regards to not passing up the history while here in Nashville, tourists should also consider visiting Fisk University (HBCU & home of the Jubilee Singers), & Meharry Medical college (HBCU). Jefferson Street is full of African American history. There’s also an African American Music Museum that’s located on Broadway as well.
THANK YOU FOR MENTIONING THAT CAUSE HONEY THERE ARE AFRICAN AMERICAN PLACES TOO... NOT MAD... JUST SOUND LIKE HE ISN'T WELL CULTURED. BUT I HOPE ONE DAY YOU WILL VISIT THOSE PLACES TOO WOLTERS WORLD. YES, ADVENTURE OUTSIDE THE CULTURE, SWEETIE! GOOD VIDEO THO!
Local here…The Nashville Scene is the essential source to find whatever type and genre of entertainment or food you’re into. They have a full calendar of the city’s events and do reviews of local artists, restaurants, and shows. They also have local articles and investigative reporting, etc. which gives a good idea what the culture of Nashville is really like and where the locals hang out.
I lived in Nashville for 36 Years. I’ve lived 15 min from Nashville for another 22 years. Nashville is no longer “Nashville” but it is still a really cool place. So many things to do in and around Nashville. It would easily take a couple of weeks to take in the wide variety of attractions. Prince’s Hot Chicken Shack was the original before “Nashville Hot Chicken” was a thing. Had my first hot chicken in the early 1990s. While I would say that Nashville probably didn’t have the greatest drivers before, the massive influx of out of town people has made the commute to Nashville a living torment with all of their aggressive driving. If you’re visiting, enjoy your stay and ya’ll come back to see us. If you’re staying, you are a Nashvillian now. The charm of Nashville is based on kindness and respectful interactions with others. In other words, leave the out of town habits where they came from.
As someone who has lived in Middle Tennessee 32 of my 38 years alive. I gotta say this is pretty spot-on. You nailed it with the music part. My favorite band is Anti-Flag, a punk band out of Pittsburg, PA and I've seen them 3 times now in the last few years! So I'd say, one DO in Nashville is to just look up some of your favorite artists/bands and see if they are playing nearby. I'd say another DO is to go to a Nashville Predators game. I'm not even a sports fan but MAN do I love going to a Preds game! SO fun and entertaining! Also, you touched on public transit.... It's pretty much nonexistent throughout all of Middle TN. BUT Uber and Lyft (not to mention DoorDash, Uber Eats, etc.) are EVERYWHERE! It's so prevalent that if you don't want to stay in busy downtown where prices for everything is outrageous, stay in the next town or a few towns over and just make day trips to the city. That leads to one DON'T though... DON'T GO TO ANTIOCH!!! Nashville is a relatively safe city, at least by big city standards... Antioch is not. The same used to be said about East Nashville but in the last 10 years or so it's been very... Eh... How do I put this... "Gentrified".
Dude you did a great job with this video. 5 daughter's donuts are AMAZING!! The food in Nashville is SO good! Parking can get pretty expensive downtown. Love Nashville. ♥️
@@davidslocum9536 I would also listen to the Nashville Daily podcast. Those guys are great at all things Nashville. They also have a damn good RU-vid channel. I found out about the lot R thing after I paid $30 to park downtown near the library. After that I was determined to know where the locals park….lol The other good lot is the Nashville public library. If you get the parking validated before the library closes I think it’s like $1 or $2. Plus there’s an Oscars Taco Shop right across the street. 🤩
@@twentyoneplusvideo0472 Oh man, you're a wealth of information! I have paid outlandish fees for parking downtown. 🙄 Thanks so much for this buddy! 🙏🏻👊
@@davidslocum9536 I hate, hate paying for parking. I used to live in LA, and I hated it there. Parking downtown here is just as expensive and I hate it here also. You can also park at the Wal Mart in Berry Hill and Uber to downtown and it will still be cheaper than parking downtown.
Nashville native here.. Hattie B's for hot chicken, Jack Calhouns for BBQ, and 2 places for your down home cooking... Monell's and Lovelace.... (EAT IN AT BOTH!) Also yes please visit the Parthenon, it took quite a bit of time to restore Athena and the Parthenon so we are very proud of them!!! Also the Frist museum features a lot of our local artists, so even if there isn't a huge exhibition going, you can see some of our art culture there. Also... Cheekwood is known for it's historic and cultural gardens and artistry as well... last DON'T for your list... we are a sweet hospitable town, but please don't continually comment on the accent... if you are able to find a local downtown... it is annoying to constantly be commented on about the way we talk...
So happy to hear Loveless Cafe get a shout out! I went there 4 years ago when passing through, and have been talking about it since! The biscuits are amazing!! 😋😋 They have a biscuit with fried green tomatoes and pimento cheese that is too die for!
Unfortunately the biscuit lady died a few years ago, and they haven't been the same since :( That said, even since she's been gone, they're still definitely among the best
I have lived in Nashville since I was 8. It has changed a lot, but during the spring and summer and Christmas time there are so many fun festivals and things like that to do and a lot of outdoor music like musicians corner for free during the summer. The green line goes through the gulch and a few other places for free, which is pretty nice. I enjoy big shake's hot chicken, hattie b's mainly because of the red skin potato salad and greens, and party fowl is such a great hot chicken place; it has a lot of interesting adult drinks that are unique and they are well known for them and their mac and cheese. Bishop's in franklin is very nice meat and 3 as well. It is near the cool springs mall, and they also, serve hattie b's hot chicken, and they honestly have better side choices their and the wait is a lot shorter than at hattie's. Martin's bbq and jack's bbq are very good. I prefer to go to the Martin's near belmont because the wait is not as long. Five daughter's is worth a visit, and I recommend donut country it is a local place in Murfreesboro. Their apple filled donuts are so so good. Franklin has a lot of history and is great for elder and children in my opinion. Overall, Nashville is good for all ages because of the food, music, festivals, shopping, nature, people, etc. It is a nice place overall. DO NOT WEAR COWBOY BOOTS!!!!! It is somewhat insulting if you aren't from the place and try to "act country". I am from Arlington, Texas, and I have grown up around farm life and rodeos, etc. Most people just find it annoying, and this makes you an easier target for robbers and scammers tbh.
Thanks for visiting our home!! Having called Nashville my home for decades, don't miss the East side of the river.. that's the cool side btw.. and get your chicken at Bolton's Hot Chicken and Fish. It's a hole in the wall but you will not find a more original Nashville hot chicken experience. Also, you mentioned the Greenway which goes through Shelby Park( also in East Nashville). Our park is a fantastic urban retreat for hikers, bikers, families, dog lovers, and just about anyone. East Nashville, especially 5 Points, is a great spot to make your base and still be close Uber (or even walk if the day is fine) to Downtown. We are a walkable neighborhood with lots of character, restaurants, shops, and fun.. and of course the famous Tomato Art Festival!
I always tells my friends visiting from out of town to cross the river and hang out in East for a day. I'll take Five Points over Lower Broad any day. The food scene in East Nashville is easily the best in the city.
@@StormGod29 So true. Lockland Table, the Pharmacy, Mas Tacos, Once Upon a Time in France and a dozen more. Even our casual eats at Hunter's Station is awesome.
@@kwaggoner2494 Yeah Hunter's has been a great adaptive reuse. Don't forget Margot, Butcher & Bee, Smith & Lentz, Edley's, and I Dream of Weenie. It is an embarrassment of riches on the East Side right now! Food on Lower Broad is pretty meh.
Prince's was the first and by far the best hot chicken anywhere. Be careful though, it's a bit hotter than most in the area. The white bread on the bottom of the chicken soaks up all the good stuff.
I was a transplant who lived there from 2018 to 2020, and loved my time there (aside from the bugs, storms, and roads). One of the best non-southern places to eat in town is Khans Mongolian. I am from California where we have a lot more Asian food than Nashville, but can confidently say Khans is by far the best Mongolian place I've ever been to. Also, Biscuit love is a great alternative to loveless cafe if you can't drive out to loveless. It's about 20 minutes outside the city while biscuit love is in it.
@Best RU-vid channel ever! A really good field position opened up at my company in NorCal. It's closer to my wife's family and she didn't know anyone there other then my coworkers who all relocated to Nashville with us. So it's was bittersweet, but being closer to family and having a better job was worth it. Stupid Cali taxes though almost offset the raise... Lol
@Best RU-vid channel ever! Yup I know all that. I love Tennessee and other states for those reasons. The taxes here are becoming crazy, so I don't know much much longer we will stay here in my current position, but there is still a lot to love and a lot of family here. Also, not everyone in Cali is a "commiefornian", I certainly am not. We have the most conservatives/republicans of any state in the country, just also a lot more liberals in LA and bay area. Most of those moving from the state are conservative or republican and are leaving because of the politics, so please don't assume we are all blue or are leaving to turn other states blue. :) That's false 90% of the time, and the conservative Californians that are finally getting out and going to states they have idealized are now being met with false stereotypes and prejudice. Treat the CA transplants with a little love and maybe you'll make converts out of them if they aren't already! Treat em as if they are all the same, and it will make them second guess their politics and then they will tell everyone going to whichever state is a mistake since the locals are mean. Seen it happen dozens of times in a bunch of states, and now people who leaned conservative or were on the fence and strongly against it because of the rudeness they met in other states due to them simply being from Cali. We definitely had that against us in Tennessee a few times, but we know better and just shrug it off. A couple of jerks doesn't offset the tons of nice people we met there. :)
@@chrisa.9938 Colorado, Nevada, Arizona, Texas etc. have gotten a lot of lefty Californians along with plenty of New England's finest radical leftists so it is a rather well earned stereotype unfortunately as those states have all changed a lot from it and original residents have been left very unhappy with the results. Nashville has lost a lot of its unique local flavor with so many hordes of people from all over moving in. It is natural for folks who were born and raised in the area to be upset as they see their culture begin to disappear and be replaced by totally alien mindsets. Nashville has turned into a very blue lefty city so no denying the results. So while you might not be a lefty it seems most of the transplants are and it is not going well as so many of the lefties literally attack the natives culture and try to transform it into where they came from. These transplants have done a great job destroying a lot of New Orleans culture I can assure you.

Loveless Cafe, Cheekwood Botanical Gardens, and Belle Meade Plantation should Eve visited as well. Go to Princes or Boltons for hot chicken, Jacks or Martin’s for BBQ, and try Yazoo, Bearded Iris, Jackalope, or Southern Grist for beers. Great video! Support live music!
Word to the wise: The name "Music City" does NOT just mean " *Country* Music City". In fact, it actually predates the entire genre's existence! There is something for everyone depending on your personal music tastes: plenty of jazz lounges downtown, always big rock concerts going on, and so on and so forth

Prince's is by far my favorite hot chicken in Nashville. The advice about eating the white bread under the chicken to soak up the heat is REALLY bad advice. It's there to soak up the oils from the chicken, so the chicken isn't sitting in a puddle of spicy grease. Often times, the bread ends up being hotter than the chicken itself.
Hey! I'm a native and live in Franklin. Thanks for the great review. I enjoy your videos very much ! Big Shakes is a good hot chicken place in Franklin. They also have a great whitefish sandwich. If you want Hattie B's chicken while in Franklin and also want to skip the lines in Nashville , a meat and 3 in Cool Springs called Bishop's serves Hattie's chicken there. Downtown Franklin is a great destination as well. Hope you enjoyed your visit : )
I can 100% second both Big Shakes and Bishops, 2 of my favorite restaurants in the world. If you go to Bishops and are sick of eating hot chicken, get their grilled chicken, you won't regret it, it's so good!
One of the best parts of our trip to TN was visiting Franklin. We visited on a lark, only because we live in Franklin in another state, and thought the kids would get a kick out of it. Came for the T shirt, and were surprised by a great time!

Born, raised and current Nashvillian here...Prince's is absolutely the best hot chicken. Often imitated but never duplicated! Don't go for hot chicken in places that specialize in something else. Get it in places where the primary product is hot chicken and you won't be disappointed. Also, please leave the celebrities alone. Musicians, actors, hockey players, whoever...please treat them like average people and don't bother them.
As a local here is my personal DONT list: 1) Don’t try to drive down Broadway. If you need to get to a place down Broadway go down Demonbreun instead to find a parking garage. It’s the next street over. 2) Don’t try to find free parking. Just don’t. It used to be easy to find, but now it’s like a hyper endangered species. 3) Don’t forget to go to Cock of the Walk if you want to enjoy the best fried catfish and fried chicken around. 4) Don’t use the main entrance for the Opry Mills mall. Go around the back by using the Opryland Hotel exit off of Briley Parkway. 5) Don’t think the Opryland Hotel is just a hotel. You can park in the Opry Mills parking lot for free and walk a few feet to the hotel. They have a TON of attractions inside and hold events year round. I think they even installed a water park in there. 6) Don’t walk down Printer’s Alley at night. It can get super sketchy. I hear it’s gotten better since the influx of tourism, but I’m a local and I won’t even do it. 7) Most important of all DONT ignore the rest of Tennessee. There are so many areas in TN that are worth visiting from Memphis to Gatlinburg and everywhere in between. There is something for everyone whether your a foodie, a ghost hunter, musician, or a nature goer. I was born in TN and wouldn’t live anywhere else.
I was born and raised here in Nashville, and I love my hometown. The traffic is a pain, but you can get around okay if you are mindful of the time of day. Ya'll come back now, ya hear!
As a native, no native would say “Ya’ll come back now, ya hear” We don’t talk like that. You’re as bad as the tractor party wagons downtown… you’re making a mockery out of us. Shameful!
Don’t miss the Country Music Hall Of Fame is right! The Trans Am from Smokey And The Bandit was there when I went! So was Elvis Presley’s limo! It is a place full of cool surprises! Your so spot on Wolter! Even if you’re not really into country music, it’s still very fun! Nashville as a whole is a real blast with crazy good food too!

Born and raised in Nashville and Princes Hot Chicken Is the original and it's BEST hot chicken you will ever taste!! Not only is it actually hot, but it's packed with flavor! Lifelong local of Nashville here. Very well done video. In addition to not drinking too many bushwhackers, don’t come to Nashville thinking you can drink unlimited amounts of alcohol without consequence. We have many tourists that come here for that and end up in hospital or jail or worse taken advantage of.

I’m one of the few natives left in the city, and I’ve got to say: Nashville hot chicken wasn’t a thing here. It was within the black community, and then as per usual, it was appropriated by hipsters and became a thing. I never ate it growing up, and I never heard of it until about 10 or 15 years ago.
Well, if it was a thing in the NASHVILLE black community, then hot chicken was a thing here! DOH! Was it okay if the white Nashvillians "appropriated" it.
Nashville belongs to black people. The same people who built and made Nashville all of its wealth. So if it was a thing within the "black community", it was a thing overall. All I heard you admit was that non blacks became culture vultures. P.s. your comment was so ignorant.
@@Sincerelyshawny I'm sorry if you think so... and that you are interpreting what I am saying the way you did. When I say it wasn't "a thing," I mean it hadn't become widely known outside of the black community. All I'm saying is what I observed (or in this case, didn't observe) growing up here. I am angry how white culture appropriates black culture, period. Gentrification and tourism has killed what Nashville once was, and this is a part of that. PS No need to be insulting. It makes you look bitter.
Another tip if you bring a car, Parking is free in state lots after I think 5 pm and on saturdays and sundays. There’s also several golf cart business you can call to pick you up and get your to Broadway. Won’t be right to Broadway because they aren’t allowed to but close enough where you don’t have to walk. Some of them are a bit sketchy but I used them a couple of times by myself and it was fine!

Can't forget Boltons when it comes to Hot Chicken, I've been here for twenty years and I love Nashville, I do miss the scene before it became so popular, everybody knew everybody downtown and it was so fun. I feel like the only true Honky Tonks lefts are Layla's and Robert's, the Wheel was great before Alan Jackson bought it. he was right when he said that when people come here they won't meet locals cause most of us don't wanna come down to the tourist attraction that has become broadway. I remember meeting Miranda and Blake at a spot on 2nd and they were hammered, oh the good ole days.
I’m one of those mysterious Nashville natives, and I’ll tell you, the hot chicken thing is most definitely a tourist thing. I mean, it’s delicious in small doses, but nothing to go crazy about. Our food scene is legit though. So many options all over the place. Your suggestions were spot on. I hate those party busses/tractors. They’re the absolute worst. Don’t do it people. It’s trashy and such a nuisance.
I've lived in the Nashville area all my life and didn't know we were famous for hot chicken until maybe 2 or 3 tears age. Sounds like something the chamber of commerce came up with
I live 30 miles from Nashville. I've been here for 9 years. I'm originally from Philly. I love the city and I consider myself a local now. After almost a decade here. A few years ago I saw Chicago at the Ryman. It was legendary.
Princes is the original Hot Chicken if ya didn’t know… Prince’s was hot - I mean hot… 20 years ago I got a 3 piece. It soaked through the bag and dyed my leather seat red… It was freaking hot… Now, because of it popularity the heat has been dialed back… The first location burnt down… Hattie Bs is good and popular but Bolton’s Chicken and Fish is the real deal…. The Loveless Cafe is over rated… No one eats there but tourist… Hardee’s have a better biscuit… For a great breakfast or lunch try Monelles… One secret Nashville has no one talks about… PIZZA!!! Nashville has some of the greatest pizza in the USA…. 5 Points Pizza, Desanos, Pizza Perfect, Joeys House of Pizza…. Those are my favorites… Joeys Pizza is family owned and ran. They are only open for lunch Mon thru Friday… Get the Gladiator!! If ya wanna see what life in Tennessee is really like don’t go to Nashville….
I was born at Baptist hospital 56 years ago and it has changed so much that it's not even the same place, but still a kick ass place to live. Go to Smyrna,or spring Hill to go to eat or drink because downtown is high as hell.
Most comments are on food. Ok I got my picks but I’d love a few more recommendations on smaller bars with great undiscovered talent. Hate noisy bars full of drunk tourists. Steer me right y’all. Visiting next week Monday to Thursday
Walk downtown but it’s just not the nice hometown it was 20+ years ago. It’s very commercial. I hate driving downtown and avoid at all costs. As to smaller bars, many downtown have closed but you’ll see some. The small ones are the ones the hipsters avoid, they’ll be easy to find. The big ones are flashy with multiple floors. Visit Opryland. Park at the OpryMills mall (free parking) snd walk over to Opryland. It has beautiful indoor waterfalls. OpryMills Mall is a nice place to visit as well, I enjoy the Rainforest Cafe when there.
Do yourself a tremendous favor....make reservations (as early as possible) for the Bluebird Cafe! Great food, full bar and everything from Open Mike nights to undiscovered talent and Singer/Songwriters. You could even luck up and have a music legend show up for a jam session! Steven Tyler has been known to drop in for an impromptu performance!! Whatever you do, without reservations get in line by 4pm!
I was there in June for the new food court. We tried our best to sample everything and also tried other restaurants elsewhere. I am from Chicago a major food town and the food there was extremely underwhelming.
Waterfalls are the best part of living in Nashville for me and recommend almost EVERYONE. Rock Island, Fall Creek Falls and Greeter falls are my most frequented and some offer kayaking ;)
Born and raised in Nashville, moved away in 2007 and moved back last year and I have never had this hot chicken lol. I don’t even know where that came from. It’s a new thing. It’s changed so much. I left bc I thought there wasn’t anything great about Nashville, in the meantime it got popular. And my dad does wear cowboy boots sometimes, so I guess I need to get out more! I could be a local celebrity with all the transplants lol. I always enjoyed the Opryland hotel, especially at Christmas! So if you are coming down soon, go visit Opryland hotel, it’s beautiful and amazing. And lots of walking, but plenty of restaurants and food! Have fun!!
One of those rare Nashville natives here - Prince's is the original and definitely the best chicken! Just make sure to go to the location on Nolensville Rd. It's a bit larger and can accommodate more people.
I live in a small suburb outside of Nashville.I’ll definitely agree with him on the heat thing, but I wear cowboy boots every day. Most comfortable thing to wear in my opinion.Zanies comedy club is a good place to start if your looking for humor.Jacks Barbecue is really good and it’s right off Broadway. Nashville is alright, but if your visiting TN you have to go to Dollywood or Gatlinburg. That’s where the real fun is.
04:20 those prices are quite sad for Nashville, I was expecting $2.5-$3 the most. It seems like its becoming a New York or a Los Angeles in price now...
Yeah everything's gotten so much more expensive in the past 5 years, especially in downtown, 12 South, all the touristy areas, honestly better to find the smaller local restaurants than the super touristy ones nowadays
In 2010 you could drive through downtown, during rush hour, and stay above 45mph. Now... well that's why I moved out to Columbia, TN. Side note: The white bread isn't for the heat. It's for soaking up extra oil. So it won't help with the heat.
I've been all over the US but essentially I'm Tennessee born and bred 😅 specifically Clarksville but I've been all over Nashville.. it's kind of neat hearing an outsider perspective. Also I have a buddy that works security for the Batman building your shot glanced over, haha. Technically it's the ATT building but.. ANYONE here knows it as the Batman building.
AT&T sold the building a few years ago, and they lease it now. US Bank has a couple of floors in the building, but the local laws won't allow them to put a sign on the building.
@@jeffrielley920 Say waaaa! Dang.. also screw you US bank lol I was supposed to have overdraft protect and my measly ten bucks in gas money turned into like a hundred dollars in a matter of days lol.. least that's how they used to run it
Born and raised in Nashville and we do not wear cowboy boots and hats. One thing that will get your feelings hurt really quick is a tourist and transplant thinking they know more than us Nashville natives that are actually born and raised here like myself! Oh and hot chicken wasn’t a thing growing up it was just chicken lol prince’s chicken!
My favorite place to get BBQ especially ribs is in Gallatin and the place is called Top Hog also its a cash or check only place no credit or debit cards.
Also a native to Nashville. Honestly our city has never been strongly known for hot chicken. That was all built off Prince's Hot Chicken(total grease bombs). Then they started saying "Nashville Hot" and marketing it as a thing. Most people who grew up here will look at you like you're a preprogrammed transplant if you ask them what their favorite hot chicken place is.
I’ve lived here for 40 years and the restaurant scene is more than the same dozen restaurants you see over and over again on the Food Network. There’s a French restaurant, Once Upon A Time In France that any Francophile would fall in love with. Primrose Table in Murfreesboro is worth the drive. There’s a wonderful Indian place by the airport, Sindoore. If you’re staying out there, it’s worth a visit. Joey’s and Manny’s pizza is some of the best in town.
I agree, too many people I know visit the city and don't rent a car. It's not all about Broadway. Loveless Cafe, Jack Daniel's Distillery, Grand Ole Opry etc are a a drive.
Beacon Light Tea Room in Bon Aqua TN, 30 minutes west of Nashville has much better food than Loveless with almost no wait and half the cost. For what it is worth, locals no longer eat at Loveless. New ownership commercialized it and ruined the food.
As a long time Nashville native most of these don’ts are pretty much on point. But with that being said as a native one thing that would be greatly appreciated don’t treat Broadway like bourbon street. It’s becoming a massive issue. Have a good time but don’t get shit faced. So have fun responsibly.
To many Homeless and pan handlers hanging out on Broadway and 2nd Ave nowadays just totally ruins the fun experience when they are aggressively pan handling or you have to walk around/over passed out drunken homeless people on Broadway and 2nd Ave... That's the Real Nashville Now...
I’ve just moved here not too long ago and the tourists are some of the worst (something I did not anticipate). Part of it I think is that they come here for the same reason people go to Vegas and New Orleans-that is, to get drunk and act dumb. The other part I think is because they view Nashville as this small, quaint Southern town and take for granted that residents are going to just be okay with their shenanigans or will be too polite/mild mannered to do or say anything.
Yeah we were there in 2016 at Christmas time and spent 10 days there absolute bliss no issues no crime no nothing, out at the honky-tonks till way past midnight most nights we were there drinking eating and listening to great music and the people were amazing! However all the comments here are sadly true the crime has absolutely taken over and it’s not just Nashville same thing over here eight hours away in North Carolina nothing is the same as it was a few years ago the homeless the crime you just have to be so careful now and you cannot enjoy yourself the way you used to be able to even five or six years ago.
No native Nashvillian, Tennessean frequents any tourist trap in the downtown area...... Loveless is a overpriced scam and the only thing they really do is breakfast at 16 bucks plus.... Princes invented Hot Chicken. The rest of old Nashville is gone, long gone..... Everything and where to dine is new, chain, and mush..... The main thing is come, visit and go back home.......
