Remember watching this live, absolutely hysterical - and made even funnier when the game got going when, after one ball on commentary, one of the players left one and this was the exchange: Atherton: “That was a *good* leave.” Nasser: “It took you one ball. Wonder if we’ve got any examples of bad leaves somewhere.”

I think that's a little harsh, look at Beardsley,Atherton, gatting, to name just a few and Vaughn and Straus were only slightly better, and if you take away gooches 333 against a third class indian bowling attack his average would have been in late thirties as well.

Nasser Hussain was one of the finest batsmen in his era. It’s harder to bat in England than anywhere else in the world. Nasser got some jaffers and most of the time he had many things to think about other than his own batting. He has 14 test centuries none the less. His 207 against Australia in 1997 had 38 fours which means that 152 runs of his came in boundaries out of 207 that’s like 75% boundary percentage. One of the best captains England had. He was born in an era where Aus and Westindies were dominating and India was also on the rise which meant that he was often in the receiving end. I would say he is one of the best cricket pundits going around with the late shane Warne also on par.
