I am back! Thank you to everyone who has checked in over the last month. Hopefully you will understand after watching this video why I took a short break from RU-vid. Can't wait to share more content with you soon! Barry
Love the dark finish. It may not be what you originally wanted but sometimes beauty comes from necessity. Regardless it now has the chance to be loved for many more years!
It's great to see you back, Barry! Your booth at the antique mall is fantastic! The chest of drawers turned out really good. If you want to really darken oak but still allow the grain to show, lye, (if you can find it), is a good way to do that. Of course, it needs to be diluted. Lye reacts with the tannins in oak, and it actually burns them. The longer it is left on the wood the darker the wood will get, but it still lets the grain of the wood show. You did a fantastic job on the piece! It is definitely MUCH BETTER than the way you found it! Looking forward to your next video! 👍
I always appreciate your reasoning for doing projects like this - to save these pieces from utter doom. And that you did. This dresser looks rather masculine and could work in a multitude of spaces - living room, dining area, entry, office, place of business, and yes, even a bedroom. Very nicely done as always, Barry.
Потрясающие преображение комода. Великолепная работа.Черная морилка,это блестящая идея ,видна текстура дерева, это намного интересней,чем краска.Просто супер. Комод заиграл новыми красками. Очень стильно, красиво ❤❤❤❤❤
what a pleasing feeling to see that woodgrain appearing under that horrible grey paint.....i used to find it very satisfying when I did anything like this, I wish I was fit enough to still be doing this.......baeautiful job ...I love it.
Came out nice! I would like to see your journey with opening the shop. Some inspiration for you: I rented the ugliest room in the town and opened My furniture shop! First day of my new furniture store! I gave 100 dollars to first client to buy something! :) Difficulties makes a good drama for videos.
This turned out very differently than I'd supposed. But beautiful. Your workmanship, your mesmerizing voice! So glad I found you! I wish I could join your Patreon support, but alas, I'm crippled and trying to live on, not even regular SS, but Supplemental Security Income and Medicaid, which is impossible. So I cannot help you except with fervent admiration. So glad you came back
I really like how it turned out. I’m fond of dark colors & the espresso shade is dark without being black. I would have hesitated to use a shade that dark. It’s so lovely I’m going to order that 4 a family piece I’m working on. I live how u are always so patient working on things.
I don’t know how or if anyone else has ever become “Unsubscribed” but I was from this channel. I couldn’t figure out why I wasn’t getting current or notifications. Boy is that maddening. I’ve resubscribed and we’re back in business. Hope not to miss anymore. This was a nice surprise with the finished piece. Beautiful
Even though this wasn't what you'd first envisioned for this piece, it still looks really good, it's very saleable and you learned a few things while on this journey. Win, win, win👍
Glad to see you are back! Totally classy piece with nice hardware. Would love to see a close-up of the desk where you keep your sander- it looks so intriguing as to its design. You have a unique workshop filled with treasures!!!
Wow, I think you did a beautiful job on this dresser. I know you said it isn’t your style but you would never know by how much love you put in it. I would buy it any day of the week! Lol
So weird. I have your notifications on but didn't get it. I was just sitting here wondering why you haven't been around. Glad to see you back. I have the low boy dresser of this set. It belonged to my mother and unfortunately my daughter destroyed it. I salvaged as much as I could but my aunt wants to turn it into a workspace for her. So its alive and well but not in the original condition. Nice that you're back!
the dark is actually chic looking I think it was a good move. the only thing I don't like about you working in the winter? your arms are covered up! :) congrats on the shop hunk!
(Me at the end, after listening to him say it's a practice piece, and that he's not happy with the overall results) "...but it's gorgeous!" It really is beautiful. The dark stain makes it look very elegant. 10/10.
Even though you knew it couldn't be restored you made it as beautiful as you could. Cause you love furniture:) Love the new shop and wish you all the best :)
Glad you’re back. It’s been ages since you did a update on your postcards and amazon wishlist. Maybe a short? I love seeing all the different postcards!
Wow! That looks super, yes it’s dark but lovely, in the right atmosphere with that hardware it will shine for many more years to come, well done for saving from the landfill
Wow! This was different with a great result!!! 👍 To watch this, as you said it was a practice piece, is reassuring in the way, that we have to practice and learn skills. 😉 Thank you!!!
I would call that a huge success given the original condition. It looks great. The stain choice is perfect and adds some wonderful character to the piece while working well to hide all of the veneer issues you had. Great work!
It may be dark, but the grain of the wood is still visible. I think the colour was a good choice, considering the amount of damage to the veneer. The drawers are absolutely beautiful.
