Lovely Natalie. I don’t suppose we will ever see justice for her. But we can remember and enjoy her talent.

Great images of one of the most beautiful but somewhat bitter and melancholic films in which Robert Redford acted. There is no happy ending, but he and Natalie Wood are perfect and in the prime of physical beauty. At the time, their career was on the rise. They formed one of the most beautiful couples in the cinema, alongside Romy Schneider and Alain Delon.

@trha2222 I don't have the answer, but Alva was a young woman who barely disguised her sadness and conflicts.

That scene of his hairy chest pressing against her and the door sends me to the ice bucket.

I could go on hours listening to Mary talk not just about Natalie and the movie but about Mary's life, she seems so honest and friendly. Its so sad that after the film Natalie and Mary didnt become closer and get to know each other but I guess their age was one reason but mary always seem years ahead, ive seen most of her work over the years and always admired her.Jon Prevost was so good in his small role and would have liked to see more of him in this film.Kate Reid was another great lady and such acting,so real.Ive really seem this film over 200 times if not more.

Mary Badham-, You have always been my connection with this movie, your song has been in my head, the song you sang, your sweet voice, I have only heard it, and felt it through you. Years past I have tried to find just who you were, because your character and heart moved me. Wish me a rainbow still gives me Goosebumps. It's your song, which I have been singing all my life of 56 years now. You are what I cherished most, for me a young girl to remember for so long, you. It's bothered me your name not mentioned for the shine of others. Please know how important your brilliance was and still is to me, Julie Boyce

Thank you for this! Natalie is and will always be the best ... certainly in my eyes. She has it all, I can't think of any other that measures up. I was however very disappointed when Robert Redford did not even mention her when receiving the 2002 Lifetime Achievement Award. As mentioned per his own interviews she was somewhat instrumental in helping his career. Nice phone interview, but just one thing and this is more only a pet-peeve of mine, but I hate it when an ACTRESS is referred to as an ACTOR. One is not better or worse than the other.

Natalie Wood was the most beautiful to me & an great actress as well. She was so touching & vulnerable on screen. This woman who brought so much to the world was left behind dead by a man she trusted & loved Robert Wagner. From all the details of what happened that night, he losted & kill her. RR left the boat captain in charge of identifying Natalie. I can't see a decent man doing something so cold. He & Christopher Walken just took off. All that beauty & talent extinguished by a narcissist she should have never remarried. Such a tragic end.

good movie...tough and gritty. too bad nat didn't have more of that grit. she let the critics get to her.

How so, Tom? I always thought she was inspirational in being the first person to turn up to accept the Harvard's Lampoon Award for Worst Actress.

Exactly how did Natalie not have grit? She was the first, and to this day, one of the only child stars to go on and become an adult legend. She also staged a successful strike against the all-powerful Jack Warner which resulted in contractual freedom for not only her, but for every actor/actress that came after her. She ran her own successful production company at a time when no other women did. Natalie was as gritty as you could get.

She must've had plenty of 'grit', to marry Wagner for a second time. Obviously, we all wish she hadn't. Bastard.

She was not a very good actress. She could give a great performance but it took a lot of direction. This in not to discredit her. It's like saying she's not a natural liar. And you gotta be in the movies. It's based on it. No doubt about her beauty though. VERY curious of how she would look in old age.
