Beautiful and underrated song. One of Natasha's best songs ever. Love this touching song. Such a damn shame that this wasn't a bigger hit in the UK charts . Brilliant 2005 song.
The imagery in this video is amazing. It's showing a woman who has masked her emotions, because she's been hurt one too many times. And she's now taking that mask off and showing her true self, even though she may get hurt, she's happier now and nothing will take that from her.

А самое потрясающее в этой песне, то что передана атмосфера того чувства, когда ты понимаешь что влюблен, но чувствуешь что вместе с этим и очень уязвим. Тебе вроде и хорошо сейчас, но ты понимаешь что боли всё равно не избежать. Я не очень хорошо знаю английский и толком не понимаю про что она поёт, но когда я слушаю эту песню во мне всплывает то, о чём я написал выше.
Она об этом и поет. Вы все верно описали. Удивительно, что не зная языка вы прочувствовали смысл песни. Значит она гениальна и бесподобна в своем роде.

I forgot about this song, until I heard it again. I wish there was a teleport button, where we could go back in time to feel a few things twice. I miss my old life, with long gone family. These songs take you back to a totally different time.. oh how I wish I could go back.
i listen to a lot of different music, but what is most important to me is the feeling some artist can create when tey're writing a song. Natasha bedingfield makes me feel every single note of a song and i really love this song for that!
WOW - forgotten gem. I haven't heard this in this in so many years. Forgotten how amazing it was. Back then, great songs were drowned out by other great songs. We were spoiled for all the talented musicians back then.
I have to agree about the Geisha look, it shows how she's hiding herself from being hurt again but maybe also how much she has opened her heart for the person she loved (friend or lover) trying to be the best for that person. One of the better videoclips...it shows that there's no need for outrageous outfits or special effects..this is so much more down to earth and real. And right now i'm not even talking about the song. Amazing lyrics sung by one of the greater artists!
I guess we can all relate to this song.. The heart can be broken.. and you feel you need to protect it. Then comes a time to take off the mask and be brave to start again.. love it.

Everyone sees something differently in this video.What I saw was a woman wearing a disguised heart towards the one that loves her, cautious of the damage that could be done to it. Eventually, she pulls a way the layers and shows her true self, despite the chances of severe pain and scarring.
I see that she took her 'safety net' off and started to face the world :). She used to be frightened to show who she was, and faked her feelings, opinions, etc. Then, the stopped caring and took the 'safety net' off to show who she really was and how the really felt.

Lyrically, this is one of my favourite songs off all time... I used to listen to it as a kid, and I could really relate to the lyrics, as much as you can as a fragile thirteen year old; but now I'm older and have learned so much along the way, still, I truly find resonance in this song.
