Nate was a coward. He had all of these opinions of a life that was different from the one he knew, but he was ultimately too scared to leave his privileged bubble - even after his struggles due to his father’s arrest. Remember how fast he abandoned his summer plans w Vanessa ? I also think this quality is why he stayed w Blair so long. unlike him, she’s someone who knows exactly what she wants AND does everything to get it. It makes sense that he ended up doing exactly what was expected of him

he is the mayor how is that irrelevant? i think he was sleeping around all the time and being single is kind of a development for him..also they were just out of college by the end of the show or still mid twenties and people often get married later in life

@@MissFreakinLOL Who tf cares that he became mayor lmaoo irrrelevant is in the sense that he didn't do anything worth remembering and no one really cared about him by the end of the show so yeah he was irrelevant but then again the show always treated him more like a side character so it wasn't really surprising, still upsetting tho. And no it wasn't character development that he ended up alone just because he was sleeping around most of the time, that was just another way the show didn't care about his character - he was dating a seventeen year old when he was a whole adult but back in the whole Jenny mess he stopped pursuing her because she was three years younger? Lmao no sense at all. Btw if that was the case then Serena should've also ended up alone because she was also sleeping around/constantly having a new boyfriend throughout the whole show so I'm sorry but miss me with the "character development" arc. They weren't just out of college, there was a time jump where Blair had like a whole 6 year old with Chuck and I'm well aware that people can get married later in life, this isn't real life tho this is a show and in shows each main character has their endgame by the end of it (and yes I know that there are also cases where characters end up alone but that's rare and it's usually not a main character either) so it didn't make sense or was any fair for Nate to end up single while everyone else got their happy ending.

yeah i see that! i was just thinking that with the harm of politics, it would be cool to see him stray away but it makes sense for nate to feel more motivated to bring change after what he witnessed.

Honestly, Jenny was one of the most innocent characters on the show. Yes, her making moves on a guy in a relationship was a bad move and disrespectful to everyone involved. Selling drugs was bad too, but I can’t hate her for the Chuck thing. Chuck was the adult in the situation, with a 16 year old girl who was clearly upset and emotionally fragile. He should have known better and he shouldn’t have slept with her. Jenny gets mistreated by fans and by Blair for that one mistake, but Chuck gets off because he’s a man and people think he’s hot. Jenny was actually interesting because she wasn’t afraid to criticize her own behaviour and the other characters. Overall, she had the most self awareness out of them all and with the environment she was around, it’s no wonder she acted out and made so many bad decisions.

I'm totally with you on this. Serena didn't deserve Nate. To me it never seemed like she actually fell in love with him to be honest. She got with him because 1) Serena loved being loved and Nate had been worshipping the ground she walked on for years, 2)she knew he was the guy everyone expected her to be with. Nate and Jenny always had great potential. Apart from Serena she's the most "consistent" love interest of his; from that kiss in the pilot when he mistakens her for Serena, to the friendship that grows between them, to Jenny falling in love with him. Nate had feelings for Jenny too but 1) she was too young at the time for him to allow himself to properly embrace those feelings, 2)he couldn't let go of Serena without giving it a try first. Imo if Taylor Momsen hadn't left the show they would have ended up together. They could make a great couple as grown-ups.

finallyyy someone with the same opinion but i think carter and serena could have been a great couple too (an even better one) if they got more attention by the writer

I’m of the opinion that at serena and dan’s wedding, Jenny and Nate reconnect and this time, there’s nothing standing in their way from becoming the power couple we deserve

you are 1000% right. i def should have added a note there but i think said it that way because with breaking it down by season, the audience's knowledge when watching season 1 is that nate/serena affair was the reason she left. i definitely should have made a note that later on in the show, we find out that wasn't the actual reason. great catch!

@@negnatrepsej2903 the thing is, I didn't bother watching as I tried watching through a couple episodes and got a feel of the show. Also, when it comes to multicultural-ness, they could have done better. I mean, hollywood in general has been so focused on blackwashing what about other races? I think they could have explored with the real actors and actresses backgrounds if they wanted to be so woke. Isn't the actor who played like Filipino Hawaiian? Luna La's character got that Mexican background right, at least I was glad of that but u know, I feel like it was just ' progressive for the sake of progressive' to the point that it almost makes you miss that all white gossip girl + multiracial minions of blairs but with stronger stroylind and better fashion game.
