Here's an idea to stay within your budget: skip all the tile, granite, marble etc and stay more 'builder grade.' Those are easy things to upgrade down the road if you still think they are important AND you can afford them. Sometimes you can't have your cake & eat it to.

I have seen so many videos where you both have so many homeowners 100s of thousands of dollars for free when you add all these remodels up you had to have worked for free a lot! You are great human beings and in the world we live in today that is almost unbelievable. Thank you for all you both do!🙏

It’s disheartening to know that all of the DIY work the newlyweds did in the beginning against the price to just restore everything they did-but brand new-is 98,000. It’s like that is the value of what they destroyed in their DIY work. So sad. 😢 BUT! Such an amazing miracle for the couple to not only be able to gather 82,000 to get their home back to where it needs to be, but for Nate and Jeremiah to pull from all of their contacts and give them a home so amazing and fitting for them…words cannot describe the kind of turnaround that was pulled off. A 198,000 dollar turnaround! I’m so happy for this couple. They unfortunately made a lot of mistakes. But they’ve been blessed beyond belief with both an amazing home for them and valuable, valuable lessons that can make their lives so much better.😊

Far too many people with ZERO construction/remodel experience take on fixer-uppers as though it will be easy and cheap because the tv/internet told them they can do it. I'll never understand this mentality.

I saw 3 doors that they didnt show us what there was behind it. I'm guessing two of them were closest or pantry but there were french doors off of the living room...really wanted to see the whole thing because it is so beautiful!

A very wise choice of décor. Sophisticated French country and all light tones make the spaces look as large and airy as possible. People grumbling about some of the luxurious finishes used don't understand that they were likely gifts to the project as favors called in, as he mentions. In exchange the items would be shown on TV in hopes of generating interest in buying them amongst the public.

It's insane how much things cost as an adult. As a child with no concept of money all I heard my parents say was how expensive everything was. Now as an adult I hear 50,000 and I know it's a lot of money to have but know that floors alone can cost 10,000 I understand.

195k spent, with favors! They scraped together 82k. That means there is 113k spent that they don't have. That's more than their planned, scrounged together budget! Was this excess OK'd by the client before it was spent? Where is that $$ going to come from? Does that 195k include all of the furnishings? Can they refuse those? How much would that save them? LOTS of unanswered questions on this one! And all at the expense of the client! 🤔🤔

Granted they had to redo EVERYTHING in the house due to the homeowners making dumb decisions, but still 192K for a tiny one bedroom seems like a LOT. Imagine if it had the normal number of bathrooms and bedrooms.

If you are on a budget, actual wood floors are ridiculous. So many other floors can go down that look similar.

Open floor plans are great for giving a house flow, but sometimes they feel like the kitchen has a couch, or the living room has a stove. It can turn out looking more like a huge efficiency apartment instead of a house. This is a beautiful home.

Thought the house looks very nice - who buys a white sofa, I don't understand why a newly married couple expect to move into a newly and completed renovated house. Most people (with common sence) prioratise the work they need to do with the £$€ they have. Electrics, dry walls and floor boards (not finished floors). Then put in a basic kitchen and bathroom and buy cheap simple furniture until you can afford to put in a new kitchen/bathroom. A house can be fully renovated within 4-6 years, if you can only afford to spend £20,000 a year!! This need for instant gratification is whst gets young people in to debt with NO saving and safety net.

After watching Erin and Ben Napier's makeovers, I think I'm in culture shock to see someone spend $8.8K on tiles which is like ~1/8 of the entire cash box. They are beautiful, but come on....a feature strip with subway tile could have saved enough to come close to netting a powder bath. Then they go and spend >$190K. I know materials and labor are more expensive in different places, but a lot of the overages were a matter of choice/decisions. SMH.

Is this the couple who had an extremely expensive honeymoon? When I saw this episode on TV I was like.. wthecck.. how could anyone feel sorry for you? You spent money frivolously and then want help? Soooo many hurting people out there. I just couldn’t believe Nate and Jeremiah..whom I adore.. would agree to do this.

i m sorry but the planning is terrible..a sofa right next to the door? all the money seemed to have gone on "stuff", who spends almost $10,000 on tile IN BATHROOM? 200,000 final reno budget is INSANE!!!!! and in the end, a tiny master bedroom, a tiny living room, ostentatious kitchen..

before marriage should be seriously discussed choose a honeymoon or home renovation.

$82K budget to rebuild the interior of a house & you spend $10K on bath tiles? I get that it’s a tv show so they want a wow factor but it would have been cool to see them pull off the project by working with the money allotted to them. Solving design challenges is what makes a makeover show interesting.

The wife looks like she is about to commit suicide from worrying about all the money they carelessly lost. The husband doesn’t seem concerned. This is such an odd couple and choice. How the heck did they end up there. How could they make such bad decisions to renovate and tear down walls without the proper budget. It’s beyond bizarre.

The entrance is not very well thought out, with that couch immediately there. It needed some direction, some casing, maybe a shelf to create a little division. She sound mighty spoiled 🤪

i think, even if they need to take a loan for this, it is still by far the most worthed expenses, imagine how much you will spend on a top notch interior designer itself, in reality.

Not a good use of money. Maybe the UK likes this, but i dont. The barn door is a waste of wall space. The bamboo is a BAD idea.

So they botch their property - couldn’t live there. HGTV come along and throw money at the problem. Basically these idiots scammed.

Beige everywhere. And if you didn’t get the point that everything is beige, they even thatched the ceiling with beige to almost literally beat you over the head with it. And what’s with the budget? They told them it would cost $98k, but they only had $82k, and then they said they spent $195k. You could build a whole new house for that, AND give her the powder room she wanted. This show is such a sham.

What years WAS this? The makeover seems dated. When you're replacing a recliner, you gotta get the guy a comfy chair----big with arms and a big ottoman to put his feet up with. They didn't listen to her: "I don't like dark leather or dark furniture......BAM, they get them a dark navy(ugly) sofa. The kitchen looked great.

They know that N&J do the most for free that’s why they called them out! Horrible couple! Sorry for N&J because people use them for their kindness

Privilege is amazing. Thankfully the Bible states, the first shall be LAST and the last shall be FIRST. There are no gated communities in Heaven. No systematic racism. No banks to deny you a mansion with streets of gold. In the end, so many people with parents that if they could, would give their children money for a renovation, but they are paid less with higher degrees. I have an MBA and as an Executive Director, I am offered way less than white men and I do so much more to build my team and run my facilities. My father an Logistic engineer and mother a nurse, never made what their white coworkers did. My father had to write the city because the contractors never wanted my father to buy our childhood home. The banks suggested a poor area of town.

I hated that one! They are just using Nate and. Jeremiah for free! They knew that they have no money and rolled their eyes! I wouldn’t do anything for them! They just wanted everything for free! N&J are just to good to them! Stop letting all those people use u!!!
