Thank you everyone in the last video for commenting nathan fielder breaking character momments! I used all of them and read everyone's comments. I'm so glad all you liked my video :) 🍒
"Wait, a ghost choked you in Switzerland?" has to be one of the most out-of-pocket things I've ever heard him say/write. The undisputed winner is "It's days like this I curse the Chinese for inventing gunpowder."
i think he's in character for most of these, he just breaks into a giggle but it's in line with what's going on. i will say that he seems to not play a character in finding frances. he interacts with bill in a very down to earth way and also with maci. i think it's the closest you could get to seeing him be "normal" and candid
@@recroomproductions3547 he said in an AMA that was a time he broke character, it’s not clear from this clip but he was like so dumbfounded he kinda chuckled in disbelief
@@scavengertag i still think the average viewer wouldn't think hes breaking character he acts confused a lot for comedy. I didn't see the chuckle but if Nathan said so i guess.
I thought at first she didn't believe in ghosts because she seemed shocked that 50% of people believed in ghosts only for her to talk about being choked in Switzerland lol
I remember accidentally hearing him be the real him on the Bill Simmons podcast and I was positively shocked that footage of that existed. Kind of broke my brain a little bit, because like everyone else, I had been so innately curious what he was like in real life, but once I had it, it was like the Ark of the Covenant.
@@simplyher he was actually on that podcast three times! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-MbMzCEUSXKw.html&ab_channel=SillBimmons ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-qfGUDuZMWIw.html&ab_channel=SillBimmons ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-FjuntnfIm9c.html&ab_channel=TheBillSimmonsPodcastNBA
This was so much fun to watch. I think I'm now realizing that all those laughs in Nathan for You is what really made me a big fan of his work. There's this deep authenticity to everything he does, even when he's trying to parody it
not every one of them needs to be laughing...there's a moment near the end of finding frances when they are at her place, outside, in their car and Bill isn't going to go in and Nathan is encouraging him to go that feels just very natural and like a genuine moment of encouragement
Yeah, but insane like a fox……right? Or like bad insane? Because that would be bad for me, if I was just going around making insane comments and having no knowledge of it
As a jewish person it seems like the only time he sorta breaks character, at least in The Rehearsal is when he can't stand the antisemitic comments and he makes it part of the show but you can tell it bugs him. Because people say a lot of stuff and he remains unbothered. Both with these two men and the Angela's satanist extreme christian antisemitism. He pushes back and it seems legitimate
The episode where he marries the taxi driver without his knowledge by having it entirely done in Mandarin at a Chinese restaurant hes trying not to smile hard
@@autokrator_ “A skrunkly is something you love, hold dear, or otherwise enjoy greatly that is kinda- funky looking.” It’s original meaning means something you think is cute and a little ugly or weird looking, but a lot of people just say it to mean something or someone that they like. That’s how I meant it as.
For those of you in this comment section unaware, his character is supposed to be deadpan. He is breaking character by laughing or even smiling. Its the antithesis of the deadpan style. If you love Nathan as I do, it's a pleasure to see a glimpse of the real him enjoying what he does. Thanks for the compilation.
I think he also broke character when he showed his show on his laptop to that escort girl. it's in the last episode of the show, on 46th minute. And also the dance on 52th minute
@@dorianlajoie9423 he was interviewing the TV executive or smt. And the TV executive was talking about how great Nathan's show was but it was very vague. So Nathan asked him to tell him what his favourite episode was. And the tv exec gave a very vague answer again. And that's when Nathan realised that the tv exec was just bullshitting Nathan. And hence the natural smile that Nathan has at the time.
@@coffeebean. no babe there are several clips throughout your part one and two where a live audience is clapping and laughing in the background, not at an awards show. one example is when nathan is interviewing another dude and he says, “have you seen my interviews?” and the guy goes “yes of course” and nathan says “name one” and an audience is laughing as this is going on, it’s definitely a show but not one that i’ve seen.
there is one missing, the one when he was talking to two brothers who used to share the same girl in bed. I think (dont remember pretty well) he broke when the brothers started yelling outside, in the middle of the night
nahhhhh in the situations outside of nathan for u / the rehearsal he was not in a position of power / influence to choose what goes on screen. the nathan for u and rehearsal stuff was produced by him so he def had creative control and allowed us to see these short instances of him breaking character, but theyre so quick that most would not notice. his attention to detail is almost psychopath level but he clearly is fine with us seeing him break character for a couple frames.
@@kg7219 it’s like Gilbert Gottfried. He’s always in character. No matter where he goes, he’s that character. It’s in his whole contract. If you bring him to YOUR project, he’s gonna be his character. You don’t bring someone like that on if you’re gonna ask them to do something else
0:09 Imagine what had to be going through that woman's mind when she went to the tattoo parlor and asked for the non sensical, ugly tattoos be put on her arm.
@@coffeebean. Nathan is clearly on the autism spectrum lmao, that's the entire appeal of Nathan For You and the Rehearsal. The Rehearsal is basically an autistic person's fantasy of engaging with reality
