Nathan Gerbe's journey to the NHL has been one of hard work and determination. But the friendship he has developed with four-year-old Ryder Kopacz is truly inspiring. Ryder was born with fibular hemimelia in his right leg, but has not let it get in the way of his love for the Sabres and Gerbe. Watch as Kopacz and his family travel to Chicago to be fitted for a special prosthetic leg that allows him to skate, and then see him test it out on the ice at First Niagara Center under the watchful eye of his hero Gerbe. (Season 1, Episode 8)

that's so awesome Nathan Gerbe is a class act, It would be amazing to see that lil guy make it to the NHL one day.

This is why I'm a huge gerbe fan. He has a great personality and is unrelenting on the ice. What more do you ask for of a hockey player?

Well he has only been in the nhl for 3 years.. and if memory serves he got the playoff clinching goal in 2010-2011. And besides he got those 31 points in only 64 games...

he may not be anywhere near the best player on the team but he gives it 110% every shift which is somthing you can say for maybe a few dozen players in the entire league

Im not comparing him at all. Im just saying people have cold streaks and Vanek has had them too. And since Vanek is top in the NHL for points right now its good Regier didn't use your logic in the past just cause he wasn't producing at the time.

I dont think you can blame Gerbe for not getting alot of points right now though. Almost the entire boat is in the same boat as he is, very few points and struggling.

gerbes wheels are amazing..hopefully the dump and chase is dead...lets get back to being that speedy team that can carry the puck and get it to the net.....you sure as hell can't score if your shooting it in the corners!!...luvd ya lindy but time to change..kudos to gerbe and his young inspired friend hope everyone is doing great!!

for a third liner that is actually pretty good.. And if everyone on the team was there to get 30+ points per season i dint see why you arent complaining about everybody except the first line and ennis...

Ya but Matt Ellis never had Gerbes speed, hands or shot. Why people hate on Gerbe is beyond me. Everybody has cold streaks. Hell Vanek is known for them. Would you have traded Vanek in the past during one of his many cold streaks? And keep in mind he did have back surgery in the summer, not an easy thing to bounce back from

I still think you are unfairly judging him. Sure he doesnt go out there and get Vaneks numbers but he has good hands and speed. And to be honest he needs to be put on a line that he can develop good chemistry with. Cause the VHP line knows where the other is at all times and the SEF line showed off there talent last year. I would love to see Hecht go and Grigorenko or Porter in that spot. And "on pace" means nothing. They said Vanek was on pace for 90 points, but now he will be lucky for even 70

thats 5 out of 22 players. I really dont see what that proves other than like the rest of the team Gerbe is struggling right now.

I dont think its his fault. he is good with ott but Hecht is just dead weight. They need grigorenko back

Nathan Gerbe makes us all feel good, but enough is enough... the guy doesn't have the talent to be in the top 6 and doesn't have the size to be in the bottom six. He shouldn't be playing in the NHL.
