I would put this at the top of the tree. I simply adore these recordings and I wish they would show them nationally just before screening the latest so-caled talent shows, just to underscore the point of what real artistry is all about. As one great comment below so wisely says: "Twenty minutes learn - a lifetime to master". What is so beautiful in this is that it avoids completely the temptation to sentimentalise, relying on exquisite control of dynamic shading and quality of vibrato. The pianist is wonderful, too; he was one of the most highly respected accompanist musicians of his day, contemporaneous with Gerald Moore.
