Yes, I agree 100%! I also remember singing this in school, for me this is the True version of the Canada I grew up in, I still sing this version during the anthem🎉

I think the lyrics and song are good, but if we merge O Canada lyrics with the Maple leaf forever and maybe add a few more lyrics, it would sound insanely beautiful.

About 20% (roughly) of Canada is French. Not only in the prov of Quebec, but also particularly in New Brunswick and Manitoba. Also, significant portions of Canada are Native tribes. These folks are really quite definite that they are separate nations within Canada. So if you wanted to say that Scotland and Wales were like that... Well, maybe.

Maybe because that is literally what happened... ???? Canada is the part of North America that decided it wanted to stay as a British colony instead of be independent. Technically, Canada wasn't "fully" independent from the UK until the 1980s!

@@puppetsock The French number is a significant, I wouldn't really say the 5% that are natives are to be honest. Especially considering that the number is self identified (there is a decent amount of people who identify and by no means should) and how little effect their population actually has on anything going on politically when there isn't a temper tantrum going on over them doing something or something happening to them. The French are only relevant because they are a massive majority in Quebec (85%) and other eastern provinces. Hell, they have the opposite of the whole non-natives identifying as natives thing where they actually have a sizable population has chosen to identify as just straight up Canadian in studies outside of Quebec. Also, put frankly, at this point in time they wouldn't be able to sustain themselves independently in any way shape or form. Not just because of the government in the past either but also because of how their land is organized, due to the lack of oversight and enforcement capability even when given money to improve things rampant corruption from their govs suck it all away. Not like it's even internally fixable either. It's a blight on them and everyone else. Let the Inuit keep governing as they see fit cuz frankly that land doesn't matter but frankly it would be better for everyone if at the very least the natives elsewhere got a bit more oversight and centralization.

"Sons" was added before WWI in 1913. Prior to that it was "thou dost in us command."
