Why do democratic countries always have garbage anthems

This anthem was always meant to be for a democratic country

This has been the anthem of Germany from the Weimar Republic to today (unless you count East Germany, which had its own anthem) The anthem of the Nazi Party itself was Horst Wessel Lied

How? Deutschlandlied was a democratic-republican call to unity for the Weimar Republic.

The song existed before the Weimar Republic so this song cannot be about tyranny. The weimar government wanted to outlaw the first verse because they saw it as "dangerous" which is ironic because there's nothing wrong with saying you prefer your country over all others.
