Most anthems sound like military march calling to war. This sounds like the song a patriot would sing before dying or a patriot woman would sing to lull his child
It’s why my favorite version is the one sung by Bergen-Belsen survivors upon liberation. They literally began to sing it when the soldiers arrived, and thankfully it was recorded. (It’s on the song’s Wikipedia page)

I think the song is more related to the long history of Jewish diaspora before the state of Israel was declared in the mid-20th century. Jews have maintained their identity without their sovereign kingdom or empire for more than two millennia, which I believe is an unique case in the entire world history.

A lot of perople dont realise that the Czechs saved us in 1948, as there was an arms embargo on all berligerents of the war. However, The arabs had a much larger arms industry that Israel's almost non existent one. If the Czechs hadn't sold weapons, then what could have happend, wont bare thinking about, if the IDF had been defeated, and the more extreem arab leaders had their way.
