⟪Anthem⟫
"Боже правде" transliterated "Bože pravde" in English "God of Justice" was the national anthem of the Kingdom of Serbia (1882-1918) adopted in 1882 to 1919.
After the assassination of Prince Mihailo, Milan Obrenović came to the throne in 1872. He commissioned a play to the manager of the National Theater in Belgrade, Jovan Đorđević, who promptly wrote and performed the play "Marko kazuje na kome je carstvo" (Marko Appoints the Emperor) , aiming to glorify Serbian history and the Obrenović dynasty, and Bože pravde, composed by Davorin Jenko. . Đorđević's song quickly gained more popularity among the people than the piece itself, and in 1882, on the occasion of the enthronement of Milan as Serbian king, Đorđević reworked the text and thus his new version became the first official anthem of Serbia. . In 1903, after the May coup, the Obrenović dynasty died out and the Karađorđevićs came to the helm of Serbia. The new Serbian king Peter I wanted to change the state symbols, even the anthem. The Austrian composer from Vienna, August Stol, composed a song for the Serbian king. Pedro I did not like the composition. Various contests involving many Serbian poets (Aleksa Šantić among others) were also unsuccessful. In the end, in 1909, it was decided to make the hymn Bože pravde official again, with minor changes to the text. Although it was the national anthem of the Kingdom of Serbia, it was occasionally known as the "Serbian National Prayer".
⟪History⟫
"Краљевина Србија" transliterated "Kraljevina Srbija" in English "Kingdom of Serbia" was a country located in the Balkans that was created when the ruler of the Principality of Serbia, Milan I, was proclaimed king in 1882.
In 1882, Serbia was elevated to the status of a kingdom, maintaining a friendly foreign policy with Austria-Hungary.
Negotiations between Russia, Serbia and Bulgaria led to the Serbian-Bulgarian Alliance Treaty of March 1912, which was aimed at conquering and dividing Ottoman Macedonia. In May, a Serb-Greek alliance was reached and in October 1912, a Serb-Montenegro alliance was signed.
After the First Balkan War of 1912, the territories of Kosovo and northwestern Macedonia were internationally recognized as part of Serbia.
The old disagreements regarding the territory of Macedonia between the members of the Balkan League and mainly Serbia and Bulgaria, led to the Second Balkan War. Here Serbia, Greece, Romania, the Ottoman Empire and Montenegro fought against Bulgaria in 1913.
The final borders were ratified in the 1913 Treaty of Bucharest. Serbia came to control the land that became known as Vardar Macedonia, and today remains independent as the Republic of North Macedonia, but landlocked Serbia was prevented from accessing it. to the Adriatic Sea by the newly established Principality of Albania.
The assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand of Austria on June 28, 1914 in Sarajevo brought tensions between Austria-Hungary and Serbia to a head. Behind the assassination in Sarajevo was the secret organization of Serbian officers Black Hand.
The political goal of the assassination was to separate the South Slavic provinces from the Austro-Hungarian Empire. The assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand set off a chain of international events that drew Russia and the major European powers into the conflict.
On July 28, 1914 Austria-Hungary declared war on Serbia.
In 1915 Serbia was occupied by foreign troops after a combined invasion by Austro-Hungarian, German and Bulgarian troops. The 135,000 Serbian Army soldiers withdrew through Albania and were evacuated to the Greek island of Corfu, and in the spring of 1916, became part of a newly formed Thessaloniki front.
At the end of the war and the collapse of Austria-Hungary, Serbia experienced a loss of 28 percent of its pre-war population and went through radical changes after liberation, all in a matter of days. On November 28, 1918, it absorbed the Kingdom of Montenegro in the Podgorica Assembly.
On December 1, 1918, Serbia united with the newly created State of Slovenes, Croats and Serbs to form a new South Slavic state, the Kingdom of Serbs, Croats and Slovenes. The new country continued to be ruled by the Serbian monarchy when in August 1921 Prince Alexandar I became king.

the song has nowadays no value at all as Serbia is a republic not a kingdom and the crown on the flag also is useless.

the crown represents sovereignty nowadays and many republics still use crowns

This is also current anthem of the Republic of Serbia with change in one verse only, where we used to sing "God protect, God save, Serbian king, Serbian kin (folk)" we now sing "God protect, God save, Serbian lands, Serbian kin (folk)", which is in my opinion more historicly accurate, because there were always serbian lands that were not united with Serbia proper both in the dark age, middle ages, through 18th, 19th and 20th centurie all the way to today. So this is relevant anthem as is our current one, but before this one we had "Vostani Serbije" or "Arise Serbia" which was anthem during the Dukedom of Serbia (Knjaževstvo Srbije) and even that song has great relevance to us not just as historic song but also because it represents development of Serbian political tghout and development of modern Serbian national concencues. We also had in WW2 period song "Oj Srbijo, mila mati" or "Oh Serbia, dear mother" as an anthem of a German puppet Gouvernment of National Salvation which was created after fall of Kingdom of Yugoslavia to the Axis powers in 1941. song as such is older then WW2 so it also represents a moment in our history where we had only hope andd nothing more as a nation while we were suffering genocide by the Croatian ustashe and their genocidal state of Independent State of Croatia, Bulgarian army, Albanian Bali Kombatar, Hungarian army, German SS and Wermacht, while we were fighting a three sided civil war between chetniks supported by the West, partizans supported by the USSR and later also the West and Gouvernment of National Salvation reluctant puppet of the Nazi Germany and parralel with them a collaboration army create by Serbian Nazi ideologue Dimitrije Ljotić as only true ally of Germany in Serbia, because Gouvernment of National Salvation was under constant survelance by Gestapo and the Germans because of their refusal to send Serbs to fight for Germany in the USSR and their refusal to destroy chetnicks. So every anthem has great importance for us and gives us the political climate of hope for brighter future in case of "Vostani Serbije", or the glory of the monarchy and Serbian Kingdom in case of "Bože pravde", or in the case of "Oj Srbijo, mila mati" great sense of dispear and existential dread with hope that dreadful suffering will soon end. As for "Hej Sloveni" message is unity, strenght and peace between brother nations and the curent anthem of the Republic of Serbia tells us about our glorius past, lost unity and hope that one day unity will be once again achived. So nothing is meaningless to us Serbs and every old song has its value to us.
