I rang that bell many a time in Old Oak Common shed when I was a lad in the fifties.

It's lovely how No.6000 kept her American bell all these years. It would be like if No.4079 Pendennis Castle kept her Australian headlamp into the present day (it didn't, but would've also been nice).

In 1973 while on holiday in the west country my parents took me to the Bulmers site assuming we would be able to see the King. Unfortunately on the day we visited the museum was closed. Nevertheless a kind soul from the company took pity on us and gave us a guided tour of the facility including a visit to the King and allowed access onto the footplate of the King and a tour through the Pullman coaches. My parents left that day with a very happy 13 year old boy with a camera full of memories!

One year later, KGV became the first engine to break the steam ban (other than Scotsman which had special dispensation, but was stuck in USA at this time).

Ivo Peters and the Rev Teddy Boston were there at Bulmers and were told they could stay and watch the filming as long as they didn't get in the way and that they kept quiet. The sound for the film was done by Peter Handford.
